  1. I'd Check distributor and cat. if veh its running lean (missfire) you'll loose power but it also will overheat the cat and cause it to break up and restrict exhaust flow. veh Just a guess 99.9% of the time i have no clue what im talking about.
  2. Or just go down to napa and get some simple battery post cleaner and battery protectant......I dont know that has always worked best for me (minus the yellow and pink stains left on the rag you wipe it down with)
  3. Is there anyone on here thats from around the Yakima Valley or Tri-cities area??
  4. I wasnt able to make it to NCSS7 and would love to meet some other scooby lovers. Gotta get my '81 all fixed but i wouldn't mind taking my 2wd '80 out to just putt around in.
  5. Axle are probably right "if it vibrates under load its most likley a cv axle!!" Quote from louie the mechanic
  6. Just hard wire a button directly to the starter, you still have to have the ignition switch in the ON position but instead of turning the key to start it with the button. I've never herd of an anti-theft that worked that way so i have no clue how to get the horn to stop honking, but im sure if you follow your turn signal switch wiring down from the colum you will see where someone has tapped into the wiring and then you sould be able to fallow that to the anti theft device!?!
  7. You could do what i did and bypass the whole ignition switch with a push button starter.
  8. If you didnt check your heads for warpage thats a BIG no no, i would assume that the head is warped and try it again. I have seen it a couple times (not on scoobys) and the result is never good. It seems like ever time you dont check it its warped adn ever time you do its okay.
  9. an AE81T motor in a 4wd hatch back?? anyone know???
  10. the only reson i ask is because i have a 1980 scooby hatch with 70,000 original miles and i want to swap the engine from the 1987 Gl-10 into it and give it a little more kick. i was also contumplating making it 4wd rather then fwd. mm mma mmmama sss said turbos anit da da debbil
  11. AA has some if thats what your refering too. Here's the link : http://alliedarmament.homestead.com/Wheels.html
  12. I have both cars and they are both automatic i just want to start a project with my 1980 HB and make it fuel injected, i do have and 1987 with an EA82T that i will be pulling everything from. Is there special parts i need to swap besides the power train and ecm??? aka fuel pump, steering colum, ect.??
  13. I did as you asked and requested production of a locker rear end and the response was : WE DO NOT OFFER ANYTHING FOR YOUR VEHICLE.SORRY Thanks, Michael Bolding Customer Service So is this guy really going to try and produce these things or what??
  14. The point being is that you can get the demension and then give the demensions to who ever the heck you would like and they can apply the demension to the shock you are lookng for!!!! the water boy
  15. Was the bearing packed?? and installed correctly??
  16. Thats a really nice wagon hope to hear more about it in the future.
  17. Thanks for the info i just know about the newer cars O2!
  18. They are both the same the napa part number for both of them is 874-sdf
  19. Your O2 arn't going to read correctly and you'll probably need to get some dummy O2 sensors depending on the veh. You'll most likley atart runny way lean or way rich because of the miss read. im not sure where but i know you can by dummy o2s that will give your car the correct reading all the time and i think they are probably like 20 bucks a peice.
  20. you can also use a "block tester" buy it at NAPA they are a tube and some dye that are very easy to use and come with instruction. They can detect if any fumes are in your cooling system (usually caused by a very small head gasket leak that is undetecable by an other of the usual signs)
  21. even with a small leak like that it can still allow air into your cooling system and cause it to over heat, even the smallest air pocket can be a pai in the @$$!!
  22. Holy crap is that just turning over 900,000???? that is insainly impressive!!!
  23. i know this may sound like a dumb question but is there a plastic Wal-mart bag in the way of the radiator????? LOL had a guy come in to the shop the oother day and said that 4 other mechanics couldnt figure out why his car was over heating, looked up and there she was a bright blue wal-mart bag. other than that hooziewhatsit has a great suggestion, if you not loosing any coolant at all.
  24. From what i've seen turn signal switches themselves are often at fault for the short. you have to pull your steering wheel and look for and smoked electronics or burnt circutry. another risky way to tell is to put a larger fuse and then look for smoke:rolleyes: . lol but keep your hand on the key and be ready to turn the ignition switch off.
