1983 Touring Wagon

Featured Replies

Thought I would put some pics up of my wagon. Ausubaru members would have seen this already.  I bought from an elderly one owner. it has 147000 kms on the clock. am currently rebuilding the stock ea81 and giving it a freshen up. Will stay stock and just use as a weekend cruiser. Its in too good condition to mess with. All I have done is paint up the white 13s I got and put some chrome wheel trim on them.post-48743-0-35860900-1377694456_thumb.jpgpost-48743-0-13448400-1377694577_thumb.jpgpost-48743-0-23892800-1377694618_thumb.jpgpost-48743-0-81121300-1377694648_thumb.jpgpost-48743-0-86667000-1377694700_thumb.jpgpost-48743-0-27768800-1377694743_thumb.jpg]

I should probably explain it is the australian version of the touring wagon.

yeah that sunvisor was added by the dealer as an aftermarket option for the original owner. pretty cool

Very Nice! I was just thinking -'where are all the Touring Wagons?'!

  • Author

Yeah I rarely see them where I am in adelaide Australia and if I do they are rough as anything!!

I wanted to get an overall idea of what it was going to look
like so I slapped the parts on. Apart from that alternator im pretty happy with
the blue I chose. The heads will soon be sent off and the carby is currently getting rebuilt

It's just a UHT engine enamel blue. I will see if it has a code for the colour when I'm out in the shed next.

Looks awesome! What color blue is that?

Looks a lot like Ford engine blue to me.

Dan

wow its immaculate,, wise to keep it original,  Had these in NZ as well, very rare to see them  now as most of them dissolved with rust, as anything of that vintage did.

had one of these as my first subaru 20 years ago a great car

That Subaru is Very Beautiful, I Like it!

Only for sharing information: The LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) is full of Touring Wagons, because people here prefered them over standard wagons; so you can see Touring Wagons of those EA81 (Leone) the EA82 (Loyale) and even Legacy.

What are your Plans with that Nice Touring Wagon?

Kind Regards.

Well currently rebuilding the engine. The carb is getting rebuilt as we speak and the heads are at the machine shop... Just keep it mostly stock and enjoy her

I don't know what it is about Astrial Gold met. and white wagon wheels that makes these wagons look so good.

Another color possibility for the proper type of engine enamel in spray can form for the valve covers/water pump pully is from this company in the states called Bill Hirsch Automotive: http://www.hirschauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=EEA-SPRAY&variation=BUI%20TURQ

The color: Buick Turquoise 1942-52 & 53 Specials

This color is really close and gives the stock appearance.

If you have a compressor and paint gun here is some in AUS: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Buick-Turquoise-1942-52-Engine-Enamel-Bill-Hirsch-Hitep-/230685541114

For the air cleaner, seen a few people use this and it looks great!
