kyotomojo101
So I have a 1996 Legacy Outback, and it definitely needs to go lower. I have not seen a specific set of coilovers or springs made, probably because the rear load is different. any points in the right direction would be awesome! carfreak85
An Outback is just a trim level, essentially. Any coilover or lowering spring that fits a 1996 Legacy will fit your car.
el_freddo
Do a “de-lift” - find a legacy of the same era and pull all the suspension mount bolts, struts and possibly the gearbox crossmember - you’ll need the steering extension too! With your outback you pull all the lift blocks out and replace the bolts with those from the legacy. From there other options are impreza struts (maybe, someone will know), coilovers, lowered springs... I’ve always thought it odd to de-lift an outback or forester but it’s been done many times before! Cheers Bennie
GeneralDisorder
Don't. You'll just look like a tool in a lowered 96 Outback. GD 3

GeneralDisorder
I mean if you are already a tool - own it. GD 1
logic23
yes just using existing legacy or impreza struts will work. Like they said youll need to remove the spacers. There are at the front cradle, rear transmission mount and rear subframe. The steering universal is also shorter.
