I'm hearing that a friend's new neighbor drives a rare lwb subaru brat. I don't know anything more than that. I will see it soon however, will try to snap some pics and talk to the owner. Apparently he's an eco-nut though, a high ranking TLC member (THE LAND CONSERVANCY, that likes to shut down access to public land using public dollars ) I still lament the loss of Harbourview Anyways, so I'm not sure what he would think of my monster sube.

yes long wheelbase, the rump roast end is about 10-12" longer than a normal brat.

I've seen pics of one before. Kinda cool I must say but a little to long for my taste....

ohh pics I cannot wait, that will be schweet, but maybe a little odd. I've never heard of one, was it custom or stock?

The wheel base is the same. The only difference is the longer bed. I didn't know they were available outside of Europe.

From that pic, it doesnt really look like its got a long wheel base. It looks like its got a standard wheel base, but with just an extended bed.

 

It would be much more attractive if it really was a long wheel base.. ie: rear axle moved a bit further back.

I hadnt seen it, but that is cool as a curiosity I guess. Too bad it isnt lwb but just long bed. Us canadians do get alot of european spec cars that never make it to the US because of the US's tougher standards and restrictions.

That would sure be lame as well. With the bed so far back you could stick sandbags in the back and have no traction to drive anywhere

it looks like if you put something heavy in the back behind the rear wheels, the front would lift off the ground,..

if the wheels were further back .... maybe it would be ok, but like that,...... nope

I remember putting a yard of gravel in my '85 Brat, front end lifted soo much, had to engage the 4wd just to get home, was barely able to steer good thing I didn't go far (maybe 3 miles) ps. one yard of gravel weighs about 2500lbs, what was the load capacity on our Brats? .........Gary

Had an 86 brat that i overloaded all the time!! You know your overloaded whem you have to use 4wd to get going and the front wheels pick up off the ground from the smallest bumps!

Hmmm...a long wheel base Brat? I thought the point of a Brat was how compact it was? We already had El Caminos and Rancheros for the long-loving crowd.

Looks like a good canidate for a small block chevy mounted in the bed. Then you just need to build a subframe and move the rearend further back.
