November 8, 200322 yr :D :D :D :D Brings back memories of my 1st Subaru. But of course, in ALOT better condition: I pick it up a week from Saturday. The only problem is I dont have anywhere to park it... From what i've heard, it needs a radiator and a CV Joint. Moosens, you know we'll be in touch. Think you can scrounge up a couple working CV's? and/or a Radiator?? There are alot more pix here: http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo14 What do you guys think? -Brian
November 8, 200322 yr Bummer. I just threw a '79 away. I didn't think I'd need any running gear, all I saved was the grille and the woodgrain dash. I'll see if the guy still has it.
November 8, 200322 yr Author Jeremy, if you are serious I might need to take you up on that offer. -Brian
November 8, 200322 yr Yeah I'm sure it will be ok. I'll have to talk to my woman first. But if it's just for a short time I think she will go for it.
November 8, 200322 yr Author short time? Hrm, not sure. Gotta find another place to park myself, and hopefully that place has room for 3 sube's Possibly 4. The car will most likely stay in Mendocino for a while until I do locate a place for it, but im still going up there Saturday to get it so I can drive it to my friends. -Brian
November 8, 200322 yr Nice car! That's exactly what I have been looking for. I just bought an immaculate 84 GL wagon 4x4, but there's just something about those Gen 1 wagons that looks so cool!
November 8, 200322 yr Wow looks very similar to Russ' beer wagon #3 just a slightly different color.... seats look in REALLY good shape for the age.
November 8, 200322 yr I just saw one of those (same color too) on the side of the road today with a DOT sticker on it. Not in near as good condition as that one. About a year ago there was a 78/79 wagon at my local u-pull-it. I pulled a push bar just like that one off it. It had the most immaculate black interior I'd ever seen for a junkyard car. Unfortunately they crushed it shortly after. btw...Nice score!
November 9, 200322 yr There's usually at least a couple of gen 1's in each of the two NV Pick-N-Pulls here. That car looks to be in better shape than my '83!
November 9, 200322 yr Author Dave, what are you doing next saturday?? Care to go for a ride to Mendo with me? -Brian
November 9, 200322 yr We'll be in touch..sounds like fun, but a loooong day. *edit*: You're off work on a Saturday??
November 9, 200322 yr Author Yeah, i traded my wednesday off for a saturday just to goto Mendo. Dave said i can keep the car up there until i find a place here to store it. -Brian
November 9, 200322 yr Author Well, i was thinking of using a EA81 radiator to get it to sac. Also breaking the CV Joint's in the front and using 4WD to drive the wagon back using the rear wheels. -Brian
November 9, 200322 yr Brian if you need to you can store the car at my place. I got the ok from my girlfriend. I'm sure you can leave it here as long as you need. Just buy a tarp or something to cover it.
November 9, 200322 yr Nice car! I'm so glad to see people starting to take a renewed interest in Gen 1s. I was beginning to think Paul and I were all that was left! Let me know if I can help with any parts. http://m2.aol.com/subaru3 Todd 79 DL wagon 78 DL wagon 79 GF 80 BRAT 95 Impreza AWD 95 Impreza coupe 91 Legacy Lsi 76 VESPA Ciao 77 VESPA Ciao 74 VESPA Ciao
November 9, 200322 yr Author Todd. My 1st Subaru (also my 1st car) was a '79 GL. I've always loved the Gen1 sube's, but could never find one in good condition. This has to be the best looking Gen1 ive seen to date, except for some of Moosen's collection. Cant wait to drive it. I'll definatly need some parts. -Brian
November 9, 200322 yr Very nice, nicer than my '75. Why does everything out here have to rust? =( Congratulations and good luck with the restoration.
November 9, 200322 yr bro - you gotta PM me tomorrow with all the details, who, what, where, when, how much, glass-rust-tires... I GOTTA KNOW!!! but man - nice fareekin score, I'll have to see this in person:brow: - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
November 9, 200322 yr NICE WAGON!!!!!!!!! I have to agree with most of you guys here. I really like my 82 Brat but I LOVE my 80 Brat more. Its just that more vintage look of the gen1s with their round headlights and stuff. I guess Ive always like them better because my very first car was a 79 Brat when I was in highschool many, many moons ago.:brolleye: Hey Brian you can keep it here in OH if you need to. Congrats..................
