January 1, 200719 yr http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11648&cat=865 I didn't do it. came that way from LegacyMax. I think ShawnW helped do it, as he did it on his before....
January 1, 200719 yr Its not that hard of a mod, just time consuming. Basically, you just have to cut along the diagnols around the light cover and then trim the backside of the grill to clear the rest of the cover throughout its movement.
January 1, 200719 yr I was the first to fit a cyclops to a honeycomb grill. Here is the Hatch and the Brat I did it to.

January 2, 200719 yr You need the light. Unbolt the whole thing. The switch plus the plug and as much wiring as you can pull. The relay. Which is mounted on the passenger side strut tower and all the wiring from the relay to the light. You have to pull it from the harness. But it fairly easy to do. If any of the three things is missing it makes the install quite a bit more difficult. Also, the grill is needed for the pattern to cut out the other grill.
January 4, 200719 yr I was the first to fit a cyclops to a honeycomb grill. Not to toot his own horn but, BEEP BEEP!! Just kidding Ken, we love you!

January 5, 200719 yr Not to toot his own horn but, BEEP BEEP!! Just kidding Ken, we love you! Someone has to do it!! There is a wiring diagram for it in the manual I think as well.
January 5, 200719 yr You might want to take pictures of the setup and all the parts needed before un-installing them from the donor car, especially if you're sending those parts to someone else. It'll make it a lot easier to install on the next car. Also might be beneficial to someone that has found a donor, and wants to locate and remove the right bits (does that make sense? ). By far the most time consuming part of removing the bits from the donor car is getting the wiring..try to get it all, from the switch inside, to the relay, and to the actual light. Just my 2 bucks.
January 8, 200719 yr Just noticed this after looking through the first section of the real early Subys. SoobGoob I too am chasing a 3rd eye but i am in Oz, can you help?
February 21, 200719 yr Author sorry to bring this back up, but could someone take a good snapshot of cuts you had to make on the grill, i just got my light in, but i hacked the one of my grills, and i dont want to screw up the other one.
February 21, 200719 yr how'd the installation go? your grille adjusting will be a little different than Ken's as you have the big chrome badge on the front of your eye instead of the black cover..
February 21, 200719 yr I have the big chrome cover on my 3rd eye. Cutting the grill is fairly simple, but it takes some time to get right. Cut along the honeycomb pattern for the sides of the cover (Pretty easy). The hard part comes when you have to cut away at the back of the grill to clear the part of the cover that isn't seen. That can take a while but cut a little bit, hold it over the cover and see if it will fit flush against it's mounting brackets. If not, you need to trim more material. I can get you a few pics of mine, but not until this weekend.

February 22, 200719 yr I Like how those Subies Look! ... ill take that as a compliment that little 3rd eye is bright as hell too!
February 23, 200719 yr Author how do you adjust the the light as in left and right,it seems mine is off a little bit
