January 11, 200818 yr Author Backwoods, your buffer is bigger than mine. ;^) Found it at http://www.Salvagedirect.com Davebugs showed me the site, it's one yard is local. Look close that is/was an EJ25 How you say B-Gon
January 11, 200818 yr mmmm ...that'll buff right out. (whose is that?) You think everything is salvagable:rolleyes:
January 11, 200818 yr it should bring a priemium price at the shredder, since so much of the pesky plastic and fabric is gone. just quality metal. do the air bags explode in a fire like that???
January 11, 200818 yr I used to dig around at the salvage yards a lot when I was in high school. I was always perplexed how so many newer cars caught on fire and burned to a crisp. Then someone explained to me that if you can't make the payments on your car, you torch it.
January 11, 200818 yr Look close that is/was an EJ25 How you say B-Gon When the head gaskets go, they really go!
January 11, 200818 yr i've seen uglier paint jobs. leaving an oil cap off 'can' (not saying always) cause this as well (ask a firefighter), so there are some legit causes.
January 12, 200818 yr Also, it is said, when the gasoline waws refourulated with an adfditive (MMT or the new oxygenated fuels I dont remeber) back in the mid 90's then it attacked many rubber fuel componenets and there seemed to be a larger numer of car fires, esp in "older" cars at the time. could hardly make a run of over a hundered miles or so without seeing a car fire or fresh shell by side of road.
January 12, 200818 yr there is/was a forester in the Des Moines, IA Wrench N go that looked the same, but it was a different color on the back. Think the back shocks were all the were salvageable on that one. Looks like a similar fire to this one.
January 12, 200818 yr Are you selling that fuel filter in that last pic, seems like it has some life left.
January 12, 200818 yr Wow this must be truly bad.... no one has laid claim to any parts on it. nipper
January 13, 200818 yr Realistically the drivetrain should still be fine. Might want to reseal trans however. Rear diff should be fine
January 13, 200818 yr i wouldnt touch anything infront of the driveshaft you think a headgasket is bad? this is a little worse hehehehe im sure there is a lightbulb someplace that may be good To paraphrase smokey the bear (hey no groaning till i say it) "Only you can prevenet Forester fires" ok groan nipper
January 14, 200818 yr double, triple groan on that-I am the family bad punster and that even earns a bad groan from me, but I'll pass it along
January 14, 200818 yr I emailed the pix and description to my family along with the bad pun , and my brother replied- Yikes. Well, I see why they parked it “outback.”
January 14, 200818 yr I emailed the pix and description to my family along with the bad pun , and my brother replied- Yikes. Well, I see why they parked it “outback.” notice how its fire engine red, or is that burnt red nipper
January 14, 200818 yr TOAST = Temperature Obviously Above Something Tolerable ? -or for the cynical- TOAST = Tapped Out, Applied Some Torching ?
January 14, 200818 yr another Imp driver that can't make his payments?? Flame Red Underhood fires i can rationalize. Fires from the rear (gas tank ) are distrubing. nipper
