but need tires still!

need some center cap ideas... I don't like the large chrome things and I don't have them anyway

if anybody knows of something flat or slightly domed that fits I am all ears!

Check at a local speed shop or someplace that sells aftermarket wheels. They should have a selection of center caps. You'll just need to know the diameter of the center hole you're trying to cover.

yeah, some tires would probably be good if you plan on going on the street... looks like you're ready to hit the train tracks right now!

I agree on hitting up local tire shops for a generic center cap...

those really fill the wheel wells nicely...

What size tire did you wind up with there?

I'm having a hell of a time finding 205/60/14's locally and I'm not sure if 215/60/14's will rub on the 82 Brat...

yeah, that'd be nice to have... lol...

I managed to find a set of tires at a tiny local shop... guess we'll see how they run.

those are 185 65 15... and rub in the rear... but I have a 2wd XT which is lower than the other 80s RUs

they do fill the wells nicely don't they?

Looks great. Skip has a conversion that he wrote a thread on about how to use subaru '80's type center caps on the puggy wheels. Search around and you will find it I am sure. It looks nice.

yeah I couldn't find any xts with 15 pugs either...

saw one with 14 inch pugs....

just ordered some 2wd loyale struts.... (one of mine is blown and contributes to the rubbing...) if I am correct the 2wd loyale strut should be a little taller than the 2wd XT ones... and will give me a subtle bit of extra clearance

  • Author

hmm new digging around makes me think I just ordered the same struts as the ones I have... (just not busted...) I'm going to roll the fenders and slam this thing, I think.... (although the current stance is pretty good.)

Dont be surprised if the rear is alot higher than you expected. The 2wd wagon struts are quite a bit taller then the 4wd ones.

Also, I've messed with the rear fender lip with those new tires/wheels I have on my 6. It might be impossible to roll them :-\

maybe I'll flip the top mount and it will be right?? ehh.. I'll figure it all out..

if I can't roll 'em I'll grind them!

i like those pugs, in fact, i have the same style, but mine are painted a bronze color.

they look good on the xt.

  • Author

thanks! I like yours too! (love the bronze color)

a nice turbo exhaust pipe from my conquest made an Easy rolling tool

got a good 45 degree angle lip roll (but made a small paint chip)

car needs to go back down to primer anyway the re-spray job it got is kind of shoddy!

now with no rub! :headbang:

roll the fender liner? not that i'll ever need to know how to do that to install my lift kit, but what is it?

Here's what happend to my RX when I put 2WD XT Struts in it and kept my 15" pugs. The tires are 195/50R15

And this is what happend to my tire anytime I hit a bump:

OMG! I was looking for the pics of that RX! so now I know who's it is!

it's the reason I grabbed the pugs up when I saw the for sale.

McBrat... I really want something more rounded than the stock pug caps.

If you want more pictures, you can see my entire gallery here: http://gallery.usmb.net/rx

Still miss that car. I had to remove the 15's and install 13" Mags cause the rubbing was so bad.
