  1. No, not as yet; although the family emergency seems to be over. We should hear in a few days.
  2. No. Typically that engine was bullet-proof as far as head gaskets were concerned. Might be that the tendency of the EA82 turbos to wipe the head gaskets when overheated led this mechanic to that conclusion.
  3. Only about a two day drive for you to make it out for this weekend. Pray for decent weather going over the mountain passes and you'll do fine.
  4. Comments and photos in this thread too. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1119324
  5. Some first hand comments on Mt. Hood. http://www.specialstage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24404

  7. Sorry, I didn't look at any of those parts. Front axles might be gone already; rears should still be there since the wheels were still on the car; not sure if this one was 2WD or 4WD.
  8. Hood was up when I looked at it; alternator and front struts were gone. It didn't look like there was any body damage. Front wheels were off also but they might have been laying on the ground. Rear struts and wheels still on the car.
  9. I bought a 94 Impreza with the 1.8 engine and manual transmission for rallycross purposes. The engine is just great; much more willing to rev than the 2.2 on my Legacy; but you'll notice it hasn't got quite as much low end torque. An odd thing, it came with low profile 16" tires/wheels and the car was a stone...wouldn't get out of its own way. When I installed 14" tires and wheels (stock size), the car changed completely and it had lots of pickup. I'm not the expert on engines but I suspect it might even be more reliable than the 2.2. One other thing; gets great gas mileage compared to the 2.2; 28+ highway compared to my wife's Impreza at 24.
  10. Same room is available the night before; I'll even make sure you're up in time to get there!
  11. Depending on when it is, if you need a place to "crash" before heading home we'd have room for you here (Bothell, WA) for one night. Worst case, you'd have to sleep in our RV.
  12. A neighbor recently got a nice 4WD hatch for his young son to use as his daily driver. My neighbor doesn't know much about Subarus but was impressed with my obvious love of them (5 sitting in our driveway). Anyway, I thought I'd get him a copy of How to Keep Your Subaru Alive by Larry Owens. I found one for a reasonable price on Amazon's used book section. It came yesterday. As I tore open the padded envelope, my heart sank; it was a hard-cover book. Oh shoot, I thought, they sent the wrong book. No, to my surprise, it was a hard-cover copy of HTKYSA! I've never seen a hard copy version of it before. Anyone else have one by chance? Now I'm debating keeping it for future speculation because of its rarity. It was originally a library book from Longmont, CO. They released it in 2000 to a used book dealer. It's in pretty decent shape although it's obviously been used. Now I've got to look for another copy.
  13. Yes, Erik posted the cancellation notice on both nasioc and special stage. Hopefully, they will reschedule soon. I was really looking forward to this one.
  14. Black smoke....means running rich. Don't know why it stopped. Is your air cleaner clogged by chance?
  15. 25 splines is definitely for the turbo. It'll fit without any trouble until you drive off when it will shear off the roll pin and spin on the stub axle (been there, done that). All is not lost however, since I'm sure some turbo owner will buy it from you.
  16. Another plug for the GR2's. Previous owner of my Legacy wagon installed them at 73K miles. Car is now over 175K miles and the handling is still great.
  17. If you can meet me somewhere along the way, you're welcome to ride down with me if you like. Heck, you might even want to run my car just for grins.
  18. Yea, that's about right; I need to leave home at 5:15 to get there by 7am. I just don't like to rush breakfast and it gets enough calories into my system for a good run on times.
  19. Take lots of pics please so we can join in the festivities later. Have a great time.
  20. I'm planning on having breakfast at the Red Barn Restaurant (just 1/10 mile west of exit 88) around 7am. I hate to eat alone. Great food and lots of it here.
  21. A more detailed link can be found on Special Stage. http://www.specialstage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24143
  22. http://pacificrallygroup.com/RCI101506.html Last event of the season and a new venue. It should be a good one.
  23. Really fun course this event. Challenging corners and fast if you could find and execute the right lines. And pretty long too with the top cars running in the high 1:30's. Results can be found at http://www.oregonrally.com/files/RX_10_8_2006.pdf. No pics since I'm playing with the movie capability of my camera. I can send out two CD's (980Mb!) of clips if you PM me an address and can cover my costs (about $2.50).
