  1. no more for me now spring, maybe Mick, all your Brats are faster than my Brat is now. clutchless. who did the exhaust? I need to get my Brat a custom exhaust so it doesn't hang so low with this lift
  2. "recently bought this motor after having 2 bad motors from" well, hate to ruin your day, but all those 2.5 are Bad.....when you need a 4th motor, go with a 2.2. I so rude today
  3. just add more length to both original wires. like 3 foot more each side for side lights and 3 foot more for bumper signals...route wiring in vice - verca location from factory, install driving or foglights in bumper, and hook up lights.
  4. befriend the local bodyshop painter; drop off random 6 packs of beer every so often with from your name on them first. then after a few weeks of leaving 6 packs, go introduce yourself and see how that goes.
  5. just like the Corona, is the gas tank.....
  6. that is sweet. I watched the track video, yeah it moves. way to go.
  7. i put my extra center caps on yesterday. I read posts from when GoldieOldie had it. I am 4th owner. He was 3rd owner, where he found it in Maine on Craigslist. The person he got it from took it to Maine from new Mexico. So, it is still really solid. GoldieOldie said the rockers are new, and reinforced, yay. I think, with warm weather in spring, I will finish up the body work, putting it a 2-tone kinda like McBrat posted here. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94177&page=4 It will make it look pretty nice, Mick I am going to recreate the same that you had, thanks for the idea.
  8. did you hook one negative terminal of the jumpers just to vehicle ground and not to post of battery? I assume you did not do this.
  9. are you going to cover new splices with masking tape too.
  10. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39790&highlight=jumpstart i swear, some people just have no business working on cars.....
  11. something is wrong. Jumpstarting a car should not blow a fuse, assuming you hooked the cables up correctly..
  12. flat steel bar on the back side with nuts.
  13. keep it a driver as a backup, and will replace my other wagon as the dog hauler when i have to take my dogs. too nice to not do that.
  14. K&N and soobs dont mix to well, they tend to foul the MAF and other systems its the oil in them that caused the problems. this will open a can of worms debate, but i am the correct one on this.

  16. it had a failed distributor, the top bushing was worn on it and was not getting spark correctly due to the wear. I put in my BRAT distributor, and brought it home, 241 miles one way. Since the clutch is toast on my Brat currently, it was a good time to use its parts to save another from the crusher.
  17. Took these pics this am of the 83 Gl Wagon I rescued in Illinois, so you know what it is. http://s405.photobucket.com/albums/pp132/bheinen74/rescued%2083%20wagon/
  18. forgot to add, but it was missing the gas door, and missing the gas cap. i found a rubber glove in my 92 that was from the por-15 time and used that lol. I will be contacting the owner and i bet someone stole the gas out of it but will confirm that or not. okay i am officially going to go off to bed to die for 7 hours then i will be up and having coffee.
  19. i think, long term that one of my EA81 cars, will get a ej22t tranplant. my 92 ss is getting mighty rusty that would make a good donor, but yet the 92 is a good runner, but with rustout. fighting a 40 mph headwind in a ea81 has been not so pleasant and it happens a lot n iowa. not good for interstate drives. the ej22t doesnt even reckognize wind.
  20. i always got mine from wrecked cars in the yard. sorry though i think a new bulb number would be excellent. i think i am a expert at replacement of these by now...it took a while tho. If you go and get some from the junkyard, look for lower mileage cars, they are less likely to be burned out.
  21. i will get pics to let you guys decide if its worthy of a lift. i think for now, this will replace my Brat until i get the clutch on Brat replaced. Without the Brat clutch useable, I have no dog hauler really. I have 2 dogs, and one is safe to haul in the white car, the other is destructive manners and she will ruin anything but a brat. No way in hell the dogs even get near my svx. i has subies in the drive. pics soon. still cold and icy. my knee is getting better from the come-along breakin and the hook wacking my knee cap. Anyone wanna come down to smallsville for a Brat clutch jobby spotter extra hand.? and to decide what to do with the new Beast
  22. its a gl so yep 4wd high and low. 3rd gear synchro is kinda shaky but i got accustomed to it quickly. i have to arrange to get the title from the owner that left it and arranged allowed me to go save this pretty solid wagon. I am happy with it. will have to to some maintenance stuff for cooling so it seems. ran in the middle of gauge on way back. has some exhaust noise, more so than any of my others. it does have some rust but not deathly by any means. We should figure out what i need to do for it. I am going to drive it close to home for a while and see. the carb on this one seems better than the one on my Brat, so i may swap but who knows. maybe its just my Brat is CA emissioned.....so who knows
  23. I made it back with it just about 15 minutes ago. Took about 2 hours to get the thing to run with my Brat distributor. Ran the battery down after much cranking, decided to rotate the rotor blad at increments of 90 each time. jumpstarted. nothing. took a couple plugs out to see, just black, not soaked. decided maby i had the plug wires on wrong on the cap. finally tried about every combo, and it ran. ran like poo, but i took off on the interstate. it died at every intersection before the interstate. I filled up with gas, and then upon entering the interstate, it was running really like poo. max speed was about 40 and it was runnning almost in the red on temp, i had to pull off the first exit. it died. finally got it started, pulled into a travel center, messed with the timing, and bam, ran pretty good. checked coolant level again, was okay, messed with fan connections and it popped on. got back on road and well, it was a 25-40mph wind and i was headed straight into the wind. tried to draft behind semis as much as possible. anyhow, averaged about 50 to 55mph on I-80 runnning straight into what the weather service said was a high wind warning. not good for a ea81 car its home. whew. good times. 4hour drive there, 2 hours to get it running and 4 hours drive back home i am whooped but it is well worth my effort and it is saved i am going to call it the beast.
  24. I will be on my way at 9:30AM. heading out to the garage to pull my Brat distr after i finish this coffee. should get there about 12:30 hope it will make it back home. wish me luck in getting it back.
