  1. Thread title had me hoping for pics of a stuck hatch, like in mud etc....or in a pond or massive ditch. oh well. good luk
  2. as long as the car is good clean title (not salvage) then the DEALER should diagnose and repair it I would assume for free due to manufacturing defect. Salvage car, no way you will be charged. It is part of the restraint system and should be covered for life under laws.
  3. om i think i saw a limo version hearse in CF for sale when i went to UNI homecoming...
  4. replaced the torn speaker grille cover with a spare I had, looks much nicer a shot of all the backlighting fixed, still waiting on finding one more good bulb for the cruise switch before putting that back in washed it in the rain yesterday, this side has quarter rust Also just got done installed the rear "SUBARU" badge i had laying around.
  5. Those types of big wheels are a burden to sell, check craigslist around here, nobody is buying the 100's of sets available, in fact they are only worth scrap imo.
  6. the loyale has to be gone by Nov1. I am about to go rip parts off and stash them where i can.
  7. There is a tab in the center of the pages for "subaru of the 80's" but for quick access, here you go for pics \ http://www.indysworld.com/80s/fun/convertibles/convertibles.html
  8. if you have play in them when they are off, and you can wiggle the arms around, then the plastic bushings are worn out in the linkage system. Kinda a pain to replace, but it is a safety issue, you need wipers working properly. Once fixed they will work like new again.
  9. It will be cool to watch someone working on one with about same type of needed attention to repairs....wish you some luck too.
  10. well, that or purchase a car cover for it. City sent me notice for 2 junk cars on my property (the 93 loyale i am parting, and my 84 EJ22 BRAT) Guess I better start messing with the wiring to see if i can get it started. City says its in-operable cause it hasnt moved since I got it. And either get it operable, or real car cover, tarps are not acceptable. wish me luck. only have until Nov 2 or they remove cars.
  11. yeah it has rust. nice that 2 people have a thread for very similar cars...I got mine on 10/11/11 after missing out on the one you bought.....both cars are needing attention but that is what to expect on that old of car.
  12. pics not cleaned up or anything I just got done fixing the burned out dash backlights, and the "D" indicator light which is in the center dash-that one is sort of tricky to replace. Also, did the title transfer/license stuff this AM for it.
  13. "peppy for a samurai even on 22s" wanna be a gangsta.....
  14. yes- or all duty for a while. Once i work the bugs out on the GT, those Nokians are going right on. Will be nice to not have to fill up with premium this winter. Looks like no chance for pics today, the weather is not right today. Lightening right now, its really going to be a dark day.
  15. That is a very worth the effort you have spent to document this. Cheaper route than sending off the heads. Just as good of a result if not better, due to less shaving this way. Always use a high quality feeler guage and a high quality straight edge ( I am talking Snap-On or MAC) to check the levelness/warpage, before, during, and after. Not all straight edges are actually straight believe it or not. But snap-ons are as close you can get to perfect.
  16. on the drive home, i kept wanting to raise the seat height..... but there is not lever to raise it. Turns out, it was just the raised roof, extra headroom throwing me off. I thought i should be sitting closer to the headliner, but will get used to the extra height soon. (didn't realize the GT did not have the lever to crank the seat up or down) Mine is the Automatic version. I just put in Wal mart Tech brand ATF on the firstdrain/fill/ It was not burnt what came out.....just darker but still had life left in it. I put in castrol gtx regular 10w-30 and a wix 51334 filter. Will drain the Gearbox section and i may put synthetic in there. The car has share of dents and surface rust in the normal places for car here, but the drive and various other things indicate the mileage is true. Some things are the radio buttons, etc are not worn off, and the labels for the levers for turn signal, wiper lights are still like new. and the way the car drove over the bumps in the road, everything is very tight and no looseness like a car would show after 100k this has got to be true, except the body is kinda beat up for being from a old lady who died, and gave it to here daughter who didnt want the car. even the front side windows lack the normal scratches from the up and downs.....i think i will have a good runner, and a dog hauling car.
  17. Just a heads up i am going to be using this thread to report progress on a 94 Legacy GT wagon with 46k on it that I just purchased. Pictures of the "before" will be up when i take them tomorrow. I already cleared up the foggy headlight issue though so the pic wil show them clear not cloudy/yellowed. Already drained ATF and refilled, and did a oil and filter change in the garage. Already fixed the broken tab on the right side front turn light. Will take pics before i do more...... and then follow the thread if you are interested in what i do to my cars.
  18. Yep, that looks exactly like an ex girflriend's old 84 Civic from Florida.....the roof rails were gone, who needed windows to see out, it was that bad. But we are speculating before even seeing pics. Let the pics do the talking i hope
  19. Picked up a 94 Legacy GT wagon. Drove it home. Drained ATF, refilled Full oil and filter change Fixed the broken tab on the turn lens with a piece of ice cream bucket for the strap. Taking down notes on various normal oddities, such as burned out dash lights in the 80mph upper, and the 1rpm section, and the D indicator in the center dash, also burned out are the cruise and defrost backlights at night. Radio works, have yet to check the CD functionality, its a stock 94GT showing 46k on the odo...... Its dark blue metallic. going to have a list of things to take care of, but at least the back wiper works, as does the rear gate release handle. Was surprised to see the power window light was actually lit. More info later.
  20. Enjoy your BRAT / MV and can't wait for some pictures.
  21. ^ thinking same thing, thats a lot of Hurricanes / ocean salt spray to go thru if it was sitting outside.
  22. agree. line up the center mark for the crank gear to the mark. that drops all the pistons lowest from the heads and out of the way. leave the crank there the whole install. Then align cams and slap the belt on using the marks on the belt.
  23. Subaru should take the lead in manufacturing process, and get rid of these crappy lexan plastic lenses, and go back to glass, I seriously COULD CARE less about the safety issue of glass, vs SAFTEY of seeing good light output at night. Actually there should be some lawsuits in general class action on all manufactuers, sue to decreased safety at night sue to yellowing lenses over time. It is true.
