My idea is that car manufactures do a timing belt change at 105K because it is outside of the car's engine warranty. Your timing belt breaks at 70K and ruins every valve in your motor and they *should* front you a new motor. But if its passed the warranty, they just say tough crap.

I had a seat of the pant issue when my Toyota threw the weight off one of the back wheels. Might give that a look.

I did the same thing tonight on my Legacy. Ended up getting my punch stuck as well, broke it off and rotated the axle so I could knock the roll pin back through the other way and grabbed it with a pair of pliers.

You completely illuminated that Festiva. That would be a great mod for my BRAT assuming they come like that. Throw some silverstars in there and go with it.

Dealer should be able to get you a key made, just call and tell them the VIN number.

I like mine too, especially in the spring time. I hate the fact that it is slower than about every car on the road today, takes forever to warm up and syncros never want to cooperate, but I still love her.

Hope you are getting a good deal on this BRAT. From the sounds of it, you got some work ahead of you. Tell us what year is it you are getting and we can go from there.

I bet that feels good going through the gears. How big of a beast was the wiring on it for the swap?

I have seen camper tops for the Baja available if that helps.

I understand what you are saying Olnick. What my initial statement was meant to convey is that the air is traveling up from the filter box over the MAF wires. But like Skip said, it has a MAP sensor my previous statement is now nullified. I was just using my Legacy as a reference.

It would be a better install if it did. The guy I got my BRAT off of ran the fog lights through the fuse box and wrapped the wire around a fuse. It would make things less dangerous if your alternator ever surged like my hatch's did. I ran my CB to the fuse box and alternator surged it caught the wiring on fire and gave me first degree burns on hand, not a good way to spend a day off from school.

I just had a similar instance of bad MAF on my 91 Legacy. The car would run fine at idle and when you would start driving it would run like garbage. I also found that tapping on it with a screwdriver handle gently affected the quality of my idle. I gave an all Subaru junkyard here in TN a call and found one for $75, right part numbers and everything. It is located upstream from where you change out your air filter, will have an electrical plug running to it. Yours might even say "flow" on it and pointing in the direction of intake pipe that runs to the manifold.

When was the last time the filters were replaced?
