What car do I want?
Manarius replied to destey's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYup, Texan basically explained all the modifications I was referencing. I know one guy on the bbs got 220awhp once with his 94SS. At least, I think it was awhp.

'96 Legacy OB front wheel bearing, do cv also?
Manarius replied to paulivan's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHumming going around corners? I'd throw out bearings. Bearings do it all the time, regardless of direction. And no, I wouldn't do CV's because it's just best to wait 'til they're busted. Preventive maintenance with those kind of parts is just kind of pointless. However, that right shaft I question. Repairing the boot is generally not a good idea with CV's being so cheap these days. Who knows what got in there while the boot was torn for those few hundred miles. I might wanna chalk up the humming sound to a rubbing dust shield perhaps.

Should there be a bolt here? /PIC\
Manarius replied to ericem's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNo. It has nothing to do with your perceived "crack in your dash when you take off." Your car just flexes a little bit - deal with it.

Left rear road noise
Manarius replied to hockeylvr93's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHighly unlikely. He said he replaced all the tires. I'm going with wheel bearing on this one. The mileage and central sound location suggest as such. However, before you just go have a bearing put in, just make sure that you don't have a dragging dust shield or brake. Probably would be easiest to test by jacking the car up entirely and listing to the sound. Wheel bearings make a pretty distinct sound.

Injector ?
Manarius replied to jon38iowa's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI second nipper's motion. If the car runs a little rough, I wouldn't suspect the injectors until they're ancient. I'd suspect almost any other thing over those.

Manarius replied to Evereddie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI used a small screw driver in aiding the removal of the plug.

What car do I want?
Manarius replied to destey's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHow much money do you want to dump in? I think they're good for up to 400bhp on stock internals.

What car do I want?
Manarius replied to destey's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI think if the wagon is turbo, I can't see it being associated with an alternate lifestyle. When you're whooping another car's rump roast in your TLeg, they can't really think that.

95 Legacy Lsi....fan running while car is off?
Manarius replied to davidv's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDid you uhh...check to see if it's actually the fan? That would really help. Try to pinpoint it with some listening....

Snow in Wheel Wells
Manarius replied to gordo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYes, that's normal. Don't worry about it. Just make sure to clean the accumulated dirt out the fender wells every so often to help prevent rust.

What car do I want?
Manarius replied to destey's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou're in Canada. That makes a big difference. You want a WRX, you're gonna pay in insurance. My vote goes to a Legacy or a Forester XT.

Need help with Legacy
Manarius replied to subaroo808's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThen your car must be a weird unicorn. I'm 99.9% certain that interference in Legacy engines happened in 1997. Perhaps your engine was replaced with a newer interference style engine.

svx motor in a legacy???
It has been done. It required some major modding of the front end to fit the radiator (because you need a bigger one for the EG33). It will bolt in...just fitting everything will be a big issue. Add to that the steering would be a little weird with all that weight.

Simple question: Fold down rear seat or pass-through?
Manarius replied to PopsicleMud's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThen find a 92-94 Touring Wagon. Turbo + Wagon = awesome.

OEM key set?
Manarius replied to ShakotanBoogie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou can get a dealer cut key based on the VIN number if your car was registered at that dealer (or so I'm told by the dealership).

Head gasket problems, do they return?
Simple answer: No. Subaru redesigned the headgaskets after the minor problem with them and many people have put many miles on their cars after having the HG's changed.

Hella 500 Install 1st gen
Manarius replied to rweddy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYes. That's an EDM car so no amber markers - they're in the corner lights.

6 Cyl. vs 2.5
Manarius replied to 2000outback's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX6cyl over Turbo engine for reliability. Less moving parts = less to break.

$450 '95 OBW - repais finished! Now WTF is wrong?
Manarius replied to ShakotanBoogie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX1. Shifter bushings I think 2. Loose vacuum pipe 3. I'd still go with a wheel bearing on this one. Blown struts just make the car flop around a lot.

Wet weather problems, ECU location
Manarius replied to ct_bob's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXFind a JY MAF, they usually run ~75. Or, source one from somebody on here who's willing to sell it cheap to you. I'm sure that your MAF is toast. Replace it and you'll be fine. Running in limp mode is not an option because the ECU completely retards the timing and adjusts everything (you can't go above 4k RPM). Just FYI, the ECU is under the dash on the driver's side. It's almost directly above the brake pedal (if you're looking from the underside of the dash). It's a silver-ish box with lots of wires coming out.

Headlights Are Horrible
Manarius replied to kimokalihi's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSo, are you saying that you now don't have parking lights when you turn your lights on (as in, when your turn your headlights on, those are the only lights to come on)? If so, that's rather illegal in most states. Parking/Corner lights are required.

Simple question: Fold down rear seat or pass-through?
Manarius replied to PopsicleMud's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDepends on the year, but I think only the upgraded (ie not L) models of Legacy's have pass through (not full fold down). However, I may be mistaken. Why not just get a wagon and be done with it?

Couple Problems
Manarius replied to kimokalihi's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf you didn't wire them like this set up, you probably messed it up a little. http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/markerflash/markerflash.html

Headlights Are Horrible
Manarius replied to kimokalihi's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXJamal basically summed up all you can do about pre-facelift headlights. Perhaps one might also want to invest in some Hella 500's?

Speed sensor? speed cable??
Manarius replied to ericem's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYeah that is bouncy. Does it only do it when it's cold? My car does it when it's cold, but not nearly to that degree. Either way, greasing the speedo cable will require removal of the gauge cluster. Something someone who has skill should do that or else you'll end up with more problems than just a weird speedo. I say just leave it alone unless you're either 1. Rich enough to afford someone doing it for you or 2. in possession of skills that will allow you do that without fubaring up the rest of your car.
