  1. Just have plenty of 8-tracks to pop in and crank up!
  2. Hope so. No brakes right now but most of the ride there is rolling not stopping.
  3. And Pete , don't you dare bring that wagon to WBM in June and park it next to the Snow Shark. Too sweet! I hate you....lol
  4. Instructions are in the box. Anybody still have one handy?
  5. Thinking your theory is correct. So many "get one more year out of it" fixes in the oldies.
  6. Ahhh , welcome back...those 80's cars are pretty much all gone from the roads up here but there's a treasure of 1980's cars and parts that hopefully gets released and sold off. It's a probate situation but the guy that left it all was ctsuba here - Charlie - who was taken by cancer last year. But I'm sure you'll score here as needed. Good luck!
  7. Old name. Are you back and bluffing or actually a new guy with a previously used name here? Welcome or welcome back.
  8. and by driving 70mph for two hours, the whole car lurched and blew out whatever was still in the cylinder, so it runs and sounds great now So the Italian tune up method works. Atta boy !! And yeah, maybe hate is a little strong but uh , ya know there's lots of lights out there. You'll score one soon , I hope. I'm betting Todd has an extra oil pan to sell. I do too somewhere in my mess. Speedo cable - top of tranny. It'll be obvious if you get your head in there. . They almost all stink after 20 years. Mine only works the odometer and speed , well mysteries can be fun ya know. Lol
  9. Clarifying my post. Timesert if you think you'll need to remove that bolt in the future. That's right , the insert - Timesert - does stay there. I've had great experiences with them , only my wallet was crying. Around exhaust that's what I've used. Cheers!
  10. There to stay - heli coil Need to remove in the future - Timesert , or those inserts mentioned.
  11. 90-95 mph when all working well , etc. I agree. But don't expect more. 13" wheels and narrow width , just be careful whipping it around. I'll check as I can for that light. I know I just sold one on eBay not long ago. But eBay is a total ripoff for sellers these days. Anyways .... Keep the posts coming. Cheers!
  12. Confirmation thru the dreaded face dook..... Someone saw my Snow Shark and stated what I'd heard rumors of. My old 78 was in the news ripping it up thru the snow down at Seaside Park. My car , the star !! Lol Vintage Snow Shark
  13. Yeah , I'm even doing the tank drop n clean soon on our 92 legacy just because it sat for about 10 years before some kid tried to own it this past fall. It runs fine about 1/2 tank. Pain in the butt , just have to reserve a day and do it. And it'll give you a better eye on your fuel lines too. While the tank is down do all you can for preservation or replacement. Good luck. Be safe.
  14. Yeah the sad part about owning and keeping vintage Subarus is how quickly generations disappear. We folks in the rust zones are lucky to see first gen. Legacys let alone Loyales , and back. There's pockets of hoarders that eventually their stuff trickles out. You folks with the EA81's and newer have it much easier than us 70's folks. My advice is grab the best parts now for stock, if you have space. Good luck with it!
  15. Originals at 25 years old are better than the Chinese crap I was a sucker for after not even a year they are cracked up looking horrible. The dealer is probably talking about the seam atop the rear wheel aprons that hold dirt , turn to rust , create a hole for water to pass through going inside to the corners and wheel arch that we typically see rot in. If he is talking about strut mounts I don't see it like the other guys who chimed in.
  16. Well , between myself , another guy here , and in a building I can't get into and supposedly nothing is supposed to be taken from that bldg until court settles issues ...... so between all that there's a black , brown , and pretty sure a blue late 70's and early 70's steering columns complete. I'll do my best but winter isn't over yet and my storage is cold and down the road a bit.
  17. These models don't really come under the typical car club you mention but indeed you have found the right place. Our clubhouse burned down but it's ok now we can all fit in one place. Lol And yeah , I'm a potential recipient as I drive a '92 Legacy FWD five speed and hope to continue my enthusiastic adventure of getting the most miles-per-dollar I can. My car is getting tired especially the transmission. I am seeking either your transmission or even the vehicle as whole if transport doesn't kill it. moosens at yahoo if you want to email. Cheers!
  18. If you keep it be sure to take the Philip screws out and check that the thin metal flaps haven't broken up. That and those plastic hat or saucer shaped unit upwind of the carburetor. Those also break down and little pieces of the plastic go into the carb and create problems. The 85 or 86? Brat that I sold to Skip did just that. Poor Skip had the throttle stuck at some really bad moments going over the mountains heading home. Just a little FYI on that whole "air stream" circuit.
  19. We sure do keep the heli coil makers going. Lol Hey I've gotten some early 70's cars from eastern WA and Idaho. Don't forget western MT. High n dry. Pay the shipping. There are websites where transport companies compete for your business. Or choose an old reliable like DAS , or other. Saves your time and money. Gas , road food , hotels ..... Easily going to spend more than say $800 or less depending on your location. I will probably be driving something 90's Subaru back from the west over the next few years with my son heading out there. Otherwise it's THE thing to do in my opinion. And be aware how that rear rust starts and prep your car as soon as it gets here. The seam atop of the rear strut towers is where it all starts. I'm hoping to run something early 2.2 for another decade or so. Yeah I'm cheap. Thrifty cheap.
