  1. Moosey, I'll call you in a few weeks, once I have some scratch sent back home. I'm gonna be flying in to Seattle for my b-day in mid July for a weekend. The guys I work with wanna go to NY city to see the town. I guess there's a bus from Syracuse that will take you round trip to a Yankees (yuck) game and feed you beer both ways for 86 bucks. I plan to rent a car soon enough and zip down to see some of you. So far, they won't let us work weekends, they don't wanna pay the overtime. 4 of us at $60+ an hour adds up quick on the budget. Boss says we'll be able to in a month or so. . . Isra, I can't see myself, being an American, heading anywhere near the middle East anytime soon. Have you watched the news lately? Big time targets of kidnappings and beheadings and stuff. I'll be looking for a legacy, early 90's. There's one in the paper, but the lady won't call me back. Persistance will have to do. In the days past, I've seen several new Soobs, still haven't seen any older than the 93 imp. . . Not even in yards. They say there was 200 inches of snowfall last winter, you'd think you'd see plenty of Soobs. . . Someone gave me a tip about Saranac Ale. Not bad stuff. They only Pale ale I've been able to find here (that I recognized) was Sierra Nevada Pale ale. I was glad to pay almost 9 bucks for a sixer.
  2. Always heard that the North East is the BIG place to find Soobs. Hog wash. I've counted less than 10 in the week + that I've been here in up state NY. The oldest was a 93 impreza, 4 were newer impreza/wrxs. The paper has only produced 2 for sale the whole time too. There are 3 under 2500 in the Autotrader, all are 100 miles away. . . ALL 90 or older cars here are complete rust buckets. Even the guard rail in town is rusted thru and collapsing. The legacy in the local paper brags of being a "Southern" car with no rust. Might grab it if it's still available in a week or two. 2k obo, 130k or so miles The whole trip accross the country, I counted 6 Soobs. (except all the ones at Mick McBrat's house) I only saw one 80's soob, a Brat in Montana with Calvin pissing on environmentalists sticker on the back window. hehe
  3. My speedo didn't change any that I can tell. . . Went from 195/60/15s to 205/45/17s to 185/70/14s to the 205/55/16s. http://community.webshots.com/photo/37919799/132138190ApDzDj
  4. A properly built soob shouldn't cost more than 2500 bucks pal. How much for a new TJ? (btw, the guys at the Rubicon were laughing at "TJs".)
  5. Try Austin. I bet he'd do it for a reasonable price.
  6. Good for you John! You too EricRach! Matt handled Jason's wagon like a pro too. The USMB has a pretty sweet turn-out these days!! The sun came out just after my first lap in the open field. I'm pretty sure that's what put me out of it. My second and third were 1:34 and 1:31, not too shabby. I wish that Baha Turbo was mine so I could drive it to win. Being first out after the water truck went around twice didn't make for a very quick first run either. I know if I break it, he'd never let me run it again. I got a good thing going, he lets me drive his 285hp 2000 RS on the street too. (as maniacal as I'll dare as he's yelling "PUNCH IT" around corners) The big highlight being Ami taking a chomp out of some guy's arm. Felt bad for him, but sheesh, you gotta watch where you're going or you might step on a sleeping 75 lb pit bull tied to the back of my impreza. . . Doh!
  7. Or vice versa. This yokel didn't even have a tow rope. Good thing I did. Get a load of the approach and departure on THese Soobs I've owned. The tan hatch is my current one. http://community.webshots.com/album/37919799NGXlOA
  8. My little hatch will easily out wheel a stock Jeep except for the Rubicon, and it will follow that too. I've measured, my hatch has a couple more inches of clearance. I also have a rear locker and superswampers.
  9. Well yeah, that and travel. . . .and low gears .. . . and more power . . and bigger tires . . . and probably lockers. but that's all. Just take it slow. Keep your Ypipe and oil pan from hitting stuff. If you have to skid along something, use your floor pans. I've 4X'd my impreza a little. It will do fine.
  10. I also like Subarubrat's other car. The 22b would be high up on my list. But since I've never driven it, I'd have to say my favorite Soob that I've ever driven would be Sean of Rallitek's turbo'd 2k RS. Very fun car, handles like a friggin race car.
  11. How about this? I've sold several lifted Soobs over the last few years. From Seattle, they've made it to: Texas, Idaho, So. Cal and back, Utah, and Idaho. All made with no problems, the one to Texas stopped for bumper upgrade and wheel bearings at Mudrat's in Eugene on the way. It left with 201 on the clock, got there with 203. With good axles, radiator/hoses, tires, maybe a spare of each and a spare alternator and disty. You should be fine. Keep water and oil a plenty on board incase of emergency.
  12. Fine. I'm making it all up. Or. . . yeah, wrxs must baby it when they're around. Or. . . maybe not. You don't wanna believe what I say, who cares. I offer some comments you guys read me the riot act. There's plenty of board members who have ridden in it or driven it and will back me. Ask anybody who's known me here for the last 4+ years, they'll tell you I've never lied to them. Here's links to results of the 2 rallyxs I attended with it. They can never read my handwriting, so always mispell my last name, but you'll find me. (the cars in positions 1-4 are full on rally cars) I also drove the 04 turbo baha which they called a brat too, but kept 3 passengers in it and just ran it for fun. http://nwr-scca.org/rallycross/The%20Leap%20Results.htm Scroll down to the open class. (pgt and open run at different times, course conditions vary dramatically, they water the course for open) you'll need acrobat reader to view. http://www.oregonrally.com/content/results/rallyx/RX_Num3_03_ByClass.pdf Look for the results of this week's, 5/30 Hilsboro RX. . . You'll find me way up there.
  13. I have a couple of names for it, Ken doesn't really like them and he has the final say, it's his. I like Subiessan or Subassan. I really like Johnny 5, but he hates it. (see photo)
  14. It will keep up till about 80, no shnit. Remeber there is a big weight difference in the two cars. Equal HP is not the key, it's the torque. I appreciate the wisecracks though.
  15. I kinda see it as you guys hijacking the post to talk about another brat a little too much . . . But anyways. Like I said above. The tires on Ken's brat are 31/10.50s. You're all gonna LOVE what we did with the struts too. Should be bullet proof, but practice makes perfect. We learned what we needed to know about the struts at the Rubicon. We'll show it all off, once it's proven itself. Don't need any little spies running over to the Pirate board and blabbing about it like usually happens when the HP does something out of the ordinairy.
  16. I like my hatch the way it is. Once Ken proves to me that I can't follow him any more with his Brat, I'll look to upgrade. I have a great idea for a baha looking rig, but I kinda intend to build a 3 door loyale with Ken's set up if it proves to be formidable. You guys will maybe hate me, cuz I wanna add Toyota solid axles front and rear. Quit playing completely. My hatch gets me everywhere I try to take it. I'm pretty comfortable with it in really hairy situations. (ask around) I like its looks and the looks I get from people driving by. I dig mashing the peddle and charging the hill instead of creapy crawling up it. I dig the looks on the faces of the packs of Jeeps as they get to the top of 311a (Evans Creekers know what I mean) and my little hatch is sitting there. There's a certain pride to be felt/had knowing your little Soobie made it up there with a little welding of the rear and a little lift and the littlest Swampers you can get. I've had 2 Samurais, both easy matches for the Subies, but they just aren't as cool and they drive like sheets of plywood on the highway. Tires are borrowed to test fit before deciding what kind/size to buy. They are 31/10.50s. The wheels aren't that offset. WHich is good, more offset is harder on wheel bearings. What about Weber Carbs, Sony Stereos, Accel Coils? Well put Tom.
  17. Good for you guys. Way to represent Subarus!! Looks like you guys made the Baha park in the Bahack. :lol http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/nubs/17997.jpg
  18. I can give you a couple reasons to go solid rear. No more broken rear axles. No more broken stub axles. No more exploded rear diffs. All these, with more travel and the ability to add a proper locker. (Whoops, five) Ken can still have pride in the fact that his brat is still powered by an ea81, not a big 6. . . Goes both ways Adam.
  19. Can you say itching to share with the world? Can you say First to Successfully Do That? Here's to 4 more years kicking rump roast on the bigrigs! Go Hatch Patrol!
  20. Just kiddin about the rake Adam. How about a full on shot of the sucker? I know Ken said no trailer photos, but it's gonna be awhile till he can get it completely ready cuz of RallyX. You guys have been really patient. How about this?
  21. I see your Moosens and raise you one PK Davis, one Dr RX and one Subaru Junkie.
  22. How about now? No bush in the way.
  23. Like we talked aobut Jared. NO PHOTOS!! LOL Make the best of it buddy. If you have time to stop by, I have that scoop for you . . . YOu got my #, keep in touch. Zap
  24. With the addition of a simple cold air intake, my 97L 5sp sedan is no dog. It will give a stock WRX a real run for it's money. (they don't stand a chance at the RallyX, I've proved it) 1rst and 2nd are strong as hell, and I know my clutch is at the end of it's days. It will jerk you back nicely going into 2,3,4. 60-80 is where it really shines, comes in handy for passing and merging. I've seen 115 mph. Minivans don't stand a chance off the line when I don't want them to. Try fuel filter, O2 sensor (little bit spendy), and adjusting your clutch in or out till it feels better. Try a bottle of injector cleaner and a full tank of Texaco Superunleaded. Do not buy Am/Pm 7/11 type cheapo gas!!
  25. That's exactly what I thought. Send me an email, I'll send you the # for "Moxey Motors". Subaru gurus. chairotsu@earthlink.net
