  1. Headed out to the cabin this weekend for the day on Saturday. Let's get some pics of it in action, see how stuck we can get it in the mudhole. OMG, a military vehicle that's not designed for speed that's not aerodynamic. I've seen tippier looking Subarus not go over. I youtubed some of those things in action. Pretty cool rig, it'll be fun in the snow too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xP4KkFjI6w&feature=related
  2. Friggin' cool Noah. What a neat ride. Next time I go to the cabin, I'll let you know. Looking forward to seeing it in person.
  3. Precisely why I'm moving this. It has no business in the off road forum. The add even calls the pos an "all road" vehicle. Jokemobile.
  4. I'm dying to get up there and try out my new truck. I can't wait to tackle the really hard stuff. 8th maybe. . .
  5. The knuckes were NASTY before the front axle got rebuilt. Nasty. Trail Gear has a set of decently priced doors, but we only get such a small amount of hot enough days to take the doors off that it doesn't seem worth almost 300 (shipped).
  6. A simple ea81 mirror and a couple of self tappers. It fits into the body line perfectly. It's a little bit forward, so you have to crane your neck to actually use it, but it's friggin' legal.
  7. Due to the overwelming amount of responses to this thread, I might as well post a couple more pics. Painted my damn wheels, much better now. How I've been rolling during this last week of 80+ degrees weather.
  8. Two years ago, at the HP's Xmas tree run, I brought my lowered 2001 imp wagon on Hakki 4s. A group of 3 lifted ea81s followed me up the hill. I had to continually stop and wait for them. When the ruts got deep, I went up on them and stayed going. I didn't finally fall thru the snow and high center untill about 100 yards from the spot where two massive unimogs were pulling out the lifted jeeps. Two of the ea81s turned back. The one that pulled me out had to be dug out 3 times as well before it could. Years before, I had my buddy drive my impreza to the Xmas tree run and I drove my lifted hatchback. Half way thru the day, we swapped cars. At the end of the day, we both agreed the imp was a way more capable ride than the lifted hatch, with its lsd and everything.
  9. Well, got to take it up to Evans Creek and see if lockers and gears are all they're cracked up to be. Yes. They are. Got to go up the big rock face on lower 311, went up it like it was nothing, didn't spin a tire. Did a bunch of trails, had a blast. T'was the frist time my truck ever gave me crap. The alternator died on the way up, changed it out in the parking lot while waiting for my front gears to cool. (break in time) No biggie. After all sorts of trails, I started hearing a random clank. Turns out, one of the rear leaf springs broke. The broken side turned inwards, bounced and popped a hole in my gas tank. So we limped it back to Ken's, drained the tank, and patched it with some good old jb weld. All better.
  10. It'll work fine, just drill the second hole and put a nut and bolt on it.
  11. mmhhmm. . . Tell that to Mike W., owner of that red hatch in the pic with the impreza scoop.
  12. Jackson Rally's car is no joke. All sorts of stuff he did himself, dig up his build thread. Congrats to you other usmbers who made the second round. But hell yeah Mick, gettum!
  13. Ok. His tires don't stick out enough to really get a bite, but this wasn't any kind of problem at all.
  14. The list above is one that includes a lot of bolt on parts. The winner of the WCSS car show tends to be the one with the biggest credt card bill, it just goes that way. Don't be fooled into thinking that an old school car would stand a snowball's chance in hell at winning on an impreza board. I voted for Mick.
  15. lol Ya think?
  16. With any luck, I'll be able to keep my same driving habits, but actually be easier on the vehicle by not having to take charges at off camber stuff. Whole new ballgame I gotta get used to.
  17. The only visible scars. Before.
  18. This is the one I used when I put the 5 speed trans into the last car I built. I was very pleased with it, tested it up against a pile of logs, and the car just pushed right over them without any kind of slippage. Decent price to boot. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/89-91-Subaru-XT-and-XT6-2-7L-New-LuK-Clutch-15-009-/280716215832?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415bfd8618
  19. Aaaaannnd one for the Soobs. . .
  20. Oh, I know. Especially with a little tilt to the terrain. And especially when a litte run at it is required cuz of no lockers. lol
  21. I'm stoked Ken. We are gonna be digging it big time. We get to do the "impossible" stuff now. hehehehe Remember when you were bored driving my stock rump roast sammi with 30s and a rear locker? Next time we see eachother, I'll be teh one driving up onto your tire in the pic! Did you gusset that bed yet? Better.
  22. The builder of that hatch disappeared some long time ago, along with his baddass XT6 build. Sux about the current rule, cuz I've put together quite a few along the way.
  23. I'm sorry, I saw it somewhere and HAD to post it.
  24. Way to follow thru Mike! Also. I found those tapes. I can now make you dvd copies. Gimme time. . . But at least they showed up.
