  1. Cut the crap out of the imp body so I could lower it more. Took a couple of poser shots.
  2. Hey everybody (Brain), before you get on his case, note that I found this in the new gen forum and moved it here. But since you're all dying to say it: OP, take a look at the top of the off road forum and check out the sticky about lifiting your imp. Good luck.

Appreciated. I'm not looking to make it huge or really high off the ground, just wanted to fit a bit bigger tires and have it sit a bit higher. I'm all sorts of happy to know I can just swap in Forester struts, like I figured, and get what I'm after. Oooh, oooh. And where'd you get hte adjustable trailing arms? Much thanks.

Thanks very much for speaking up, that's what I was after. Any issues with swapping the struts, ie: tops needing to be interchanged or anything?
  5. Gorgeous hatch man. I dig your rear mudflaps, the look sturdy as well as cleanly put together with the car.
  6. But see, I get that same satisfaction knocking out the hardest trails at the ORV park in my open diff'd Toy. The looks I get as they find out I'm the only one in the group who's not locked after we tackle some really hard section is as valuable to me as the looks I'd get doing trails in a Soob. You can bet that More than once, Turbone (no offence bro) has backed out of following me up some hill and chose in stead to take the bypass in his hatch, which could be argued to be the baddassest Soob on the trails. I can do all of the trails at Evans Creek in a day whereas the typical group of Soobs I went there with time and time again only got to do two or three tops in a day. Not waiting for the third axle to be fixed in the same 200 yards is priceless when just wanting to 4X the trail you're on. I get to go UP the worm trail in my Toyota. (even though it's still open diff'd) (knock on wood) it's never broken down on me, I've never had to wait while it cooled or had to straighten a bent piece of suspension. In 7 years + wheeling it, it's only broken the bolt that holds the axle from moving along the spring. That took 15 minutes to figure out and fix and I was able to drive back out of the Wall trail at Reiter's Pit and home. (ask, that's a gnarly rump roast trail) I've only smelled clutch once, it's on the same one I put in it when I first got it. Not wrestling wth the steering wheel is pretty special too.

So the struts are tall enough to take the bigger tires with only a spacer for a lift? I saw Jackson Rally's spacer lift kit, but wanted to go more like what Brain was talking about with the Forester struts. I'd assume that the forester struts would have more travel. . . Like I'd need it for that car.
  8. +1. Sweet Jeep. Finish that justy. No one will miss it.

Thanks for the vids. Fun watch. I got neither pics or vids last weekend at the cabin. Did manage to bury the passenger side up to the door in the creek in a spot that had changed over the winter and surprised me. Good ol winch. . .

Imagine that, I don't know the answer to this one. Wanna spice up my wife's lame 04 OBS imp. Wanna put bigger tires and get it lifted just a little. What's the compatable strut spring combo? Any one know? Aimin' for something like this.
  11. cheers! I like all of the clear lights. I tried to resist the wing forever, but it just kept being for sale and the price kept dropping, and then I talked the junk yard down even more. Sold the other two deck lids to pay for it. By stock looking, I meant the front bumper. And I will most likely stay stock with it. I scored those silver covers and projectors from Japan. Should look pretty cool when in, different anyways, and not so gaudy as some of the open mouthed bumpers with the huge fogs. Just gotta get off my can and install the lights.

  15. Lately.

I'll be close to there though. I'm gonna be in Chimacum at the family cabin getting my truck all muddy. We have a pretty killer mud hole as well as some challenging trails. No dicks on motorcycles to worry about though. Have fun man.
  17. If you know how to change out a trans, then 400 bucks for a running driving car ain't bad at all. Those little turbo cars are a kick in the pants till they blow a head gasket.

Rob, that place is so simple, you would totally regret dragging your hatch all of the way there to leave it in 2wd the whole time. It has a cool mudhole, but all day, I only saw one place that would give my impreza a hard time. There is one gnarly rock patch that they put together, but it's a little friggin' gnarly, I wasn't balsy enough to take my toy thru it.
  19. I let my buddy take my car to the store, he bumped into something in the driveway, knocked out the little plastic hole filler, cover thingy as well as scuffed my bumper. I sure as hell ain't gonna spend upwards of 500 bucks to find another silver L bumper, I'd way rather have some cool old JDM WRX bumper. Well, those are steep in price, and also hard to find in silver. Don't want to pay some shop to try to match the paint. Couldn't find one of those plastic covers anywhere. Found these though, they just got here from Japan. Just have to fab up some kind of brackets to mount them, wire them up and whallah. They are nice and different at least, if I have to sport the L style bumper. "Projectors" even!
  20. I'd like to see you bring Zap to a Subaru show this year. Stop by on the way.
  21. This guy. ^^ Nobody said anything about snow or cops. Drifting is that fastest growing sport in the world, hands down. There are thousands of people mastering the art of sideways in a RWD car, it's by no means dying. If KB's tallents are so lacking, how the hell did he get to join the WRC? How many other American drivers can you find there? After following the WRC since about 97, I can say I've never seen one drive for the big manufacturers. Marketing or not, you don't see anybody else tearing it up in an AWD car like KB in those infomecials as they called them. Colin McRae will live as my favorite driver ever, but he was not even the greatest driver ever. I'll give that title to Sabastian Loeb. That man can flat out drive any surface better than anyone alive.

My $.02. Way back when, I procured a vlsd for my first hatch back. Came out of a early t-leg. It didn't work for crap, totally useless, a waste of lots of time and money. I've had several clutch type lsds, which worked much better than that one, but never compared to a welded diff. If you're stopped in your ea81 off roader, a little off camber, that lsd is useless too. They only seem to work with momentum. But. I've got one in my imp from an 00 imp RS. It's way smaller, totally looked like an open diff. It has performed amazingly well. As in, to get out of my garage, I always had to get a little run at it, cuz one tire comes mostly off of the ground causing them to spin. Now, I can totally creep out and over that spot without losing any kind of traction at all. In the mornings, there's a really off camber right turn that would always get the right rear tire spinning. Now they either both spin or both grip. It's made the car way more predictable and easier to tell when the rump roast end is gonna come out. This one has 84kish on it. Like I said, totally DON'T care what anybody read somewhere. I just have to kinda believe that the VLSD had to be improved over the older huge ones. Below are images of the two, both sitting next to open diffs. Mine.
  23. I've seen quite a few dead gen 1s 2s and even a gen 3 up in the woods over the years. This one was the most recent one, that gen 3.
