The 38/38 dumps too much gas for the ea81. 32/36 is the way to go.

Could I see a pic of the 6 inch ea81 kit? What do I need to complete the install? Rear shocks? Brake lines? Does the exaust wind up hanging really low?

I owned one 3 times. Bought it at an auction, sold it to a Soob mechanic. Bought it back from him a year later, lifted it, sold it to a fellow in Idaho. 5 years later, bought it back from him and drove it back to Washington. Then I sold it to another board member in Portland. 9-10 years ago, I bought a Brat off of craigslist. Sold it shorly there after to a board member. He's nursed it along all these years and still has it. Today, I'll buy it back.

Shorter blocks at the trans crossmember is a good idea. It doesn't hurt anything. It does angle the exaust up a little so it doesn't hang so low and look so funny. I thought that one up before I wrote the FAQ. I also came up with the idea to use an extra 1 inch block at the motor crossmember to give level out the camber. Works too. I can have an ea81 lifted in about 4 hours in my garage. They are very easy to lift. I think I've lifted 19 ea81s.

I'm sorry man, but that's just not true. Even a 3 inch kit requires a great deal of beating on the inner firewall to clear the struts accounting for the offset. Without that offset, the camber is rediculous. \-/ Ubaroo. Try this. Set the wheels on the ground, set a strut on there, point it straight up, see what you get.

After being spoiled by our imprezas for the last 7? years, I could never* make the backwards step to an ea81 for a dd. Especially not a lifted one. My coupe is fun to drive, but not up hills or around corners. If you're gonna wheel it some too, then yeah, get a hatch. And to counter my friend GD. . . Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I have no problem looking at any ea81 with a lift on it. They all look the same from the front. They all wheel the same, I don't agree with the "4 inches of departure angle is gonna make you go farther" argument. They all have y-pipes up front. Nor do I think that 4.5 inches of wheelbase is worth a crap either. The most successful ea81 wheeler is the one with the best power to weight ratio. aka, the lightest one. Hatches win that title all day long. Brats are ten times as useful as a hatch for everyday use. Put a canopy on it, and POW, ganga "dry space". Seperate from the stinky dogs too. You can't put a quad or a motorcycle in the back of a hatch. no way.
