Western Washington Wheeling
ezapar replied to subestyle18's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
We really need to put together a weekend at Evans Creek. . . Come on Scott, give us a date you can make it down to EC for a weekend, we'll call it a plan. Plenty of various trails for various types of Soobs. From dirt roads for the imp types to gnarly rump roast trials that will break the baddest Soob you can put together. Camping, views. . . -
That's to discourage tourism. lol Once they come here, they never leave. Deception. Really is pretty simple and efficient. No really. You DO mean Anacortes and not Anacosta, right? As for rental cars, I wouldn't have a clue who to choose. You can also take an Amtrak to Anacortes. For cheap. Very scenic ride along the Sound in a comfy new 2 wheels per car coach. After that, a taxi (maybe a quick bus ride) to the ferry, walk on, and she could pick you up on the other side. But should you decide to buy the car or arrange to meet him on Friday, I can probably pick you up and take you to him. If you don't buy it. . . I'll be needing my late afternoon/evening to doll up the Toy for wheeling on Saturday.

ezapar replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I couldn't say it better myself. Except to say, "Impreza". -
Most of the crap is just beer bottles and cans. Food wrappers and stuff. Maybe just bring some trash bags. If any of you wanna meet me at my house ealier and follow me, let me know. I'll most like leave at 7:00 or so.

Just do a search for Monroe. The Mikky D's is on the main drag, right on Highway 2 as it passes thru town. Your directions would go like this: Take I-5 north to Highway 2 East. Follow it to Monroe. If you wanna try to make it to the parking lot itself, that's easy too. Just continue on Highway 2 till you get to Start-up. About 1 mile out of town, look for "Reiter Rd." It's a left turn. Stay right at the fork, follow it thru some old growth and turn left into the parking lot. You'll know when you've made it, the lot will be buzzing with 4Xs and quads and motorcycles.

ezapar replied to Sallbasic's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Don't mash down on the lever. Just gently/firmly push it down as you give it some gas moving forward in a straight line. Very good advice. Best advice I can give you: DO NOT EVER PUT IT IN 4X ON DRY PAVEMENT. EVER!!!!! -
No, I mean at your house, while you're gone.
-
Highway 2 will get you there from I-5. We can meet at the Mikky D's in Monroe at about 8:15 if you want. You can follow the group I'll be with.

In Dallas eh? Whoohoo! Party at Corky's!!!! See ya there everybody.

I take that back. . . This one looks sweet. I'd dig having it on my imp. 205/70/15 eh? It's only about a small 27.

ezapar replied to floortom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Pretty simple tools and procedure. . . You should be able to do it your first time in an hour or so. After more than I can remember, it takes about 30 minutes including jacking the car up and removing the tire and putting it back on. -
xt6 ground clearance options?
ezapar replied to northguy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Why not? It would be great for winter. Just get another set of struts that will fit bigger tires, (some of those Coopers?) and run them for winter. Swap them out come spring. A couple hours tops would be worth it for your AK winters. Ken's XT6 handles better than you might think. -
All of those will be crappy offroad. The goodyear would be good in the snow, but I'd be scared as hell to try to take any of those to do serious wheeling for fear of popping them. If you are looking for a good offroad tire, then look for the Kumho Venture MT. It will kick the crap out of al of those pansy rump roast tires you showed above. A little more spendy, but well worth it. $74 or so a tire.

Big trail clean up going on at Reiters Pit this coming Saturday the 8th. They'll meet at the main parking lot at 9:00 a.m. The Hatch Patrol has done its share to tear that place up, we should show up and help. In all honesty, we've been some of the few who actually pick up garbage on the trail rather than leave it. But still. . . Like the flyer says, no excuses. Rig's not running, drive your lowered honda to the parking lot. Too young? Ride with someone. lol

My guess would be: wheels turned left and backing. . ?
