  1. I think just some meatier tires, and you'd be all set!
  2. PB Blaster! -is far the best rust-breaker Ive found.....but I am curious to read what others post here. If theres something better, I may have to switch, as rust is a way of life here in the northeast:-\
  3. Heres a pic of my brat with the roof lights (last summer) There just the cheapo internet-specials .....but dont get any moisture in 'em since I sealed 'em good when I put them on. They work real good in the fields when the hay is taller than the hood:headbang:
  4. mmmmm..... yeah, thats a lot of un-sprung weight As for the "looks" ....well, yeah, goofy lookin, but cool because its different!
  5. Anybody have a pic of one? GD- I believe you.....but now I just GOTTA see for myself!
  6. Its camo..... I thought looking redneck was the GOAL .....or maybe thats just MY goal:grin: BTW my brat may be getting the full-on olive drab base with brush/leaves overlay this summer (I feel so inspired now!)
  7. Woah! Now THAT I did not know:eek: *backwoodsboy begins plot to import longbed brat*
  8. Wow......I usually dont post like this, but somebody talking up a Kia Sportage (and calling it better than a subaru) is just too much for me. Speaking as one that used to work for the Kia dealership, I can say very little about the quality of these particular vehicles. The 4wd is notorious for failure, due to hub vacuum leaks, and was actually part of a HUGE recall program. Also every time we saw much more than 5 below zero, we'd get 20 calls from sportage owners that were stranded with no-start situations.:-\ Ive seen VERY few that WERENT problematic, and more than one that got stuck on a flat snowy parking lot when the 4wd failed. Soooooo......when the 'ol four wheel peel quits on ya (and it WILL) I hope its a subaru that gets the pleasure of pullin ya out!
  9. Use some isopropyl alcohol, and fill the cyl with it till the floating pencil/pieces come into view. Remove the pencil/pieces Then just suck out the excess alcohol, and let the rest evaporate!
  10. **sniff** ....youre my hero!!!
  11. Ill just say.... From my "northeast" perspective, that is one beautiful, rust free looking wagon! As for the covers that everyone is raggin on...... well, I cant say I woulda chose 'em for m'self either. BUT, if you like em.....thats what matters. Keep on subin!
  12. ....I was just gonna say.
  13. Im sorry......but I just have problems with people trashing cars that are nicer than my DAILY DRIVER! If you wanna wreck somethin, wreck a domestic ....or a KIA:clap:
  14. Hotness! :slobber: Now THAT I'd make payments on!
  15. It wont take rust down to good metal again....if thats what youre after. BUT....it will keep rusty areas "in check" so they dont get worse
  16. If the metal is RUSTY ENOUGH ....the rust is LITERALLY all that is holding it together sometimes! SUPER RUSTY + PENETRANT = METAL FAILURE
  17. I love it!!! My mom used to drive her Loyale to and from work everyday.....and everyday she said the same people would smoke by her at 60 plus. Then cometh the winter.... SNOW + ROADS + LOYALE = mom passing everyone that used to pass her! (Ill take my 200.00 subie ANYDAY)
  18. Being as new as a '95 this would be unlikely....but hows the rust situation on your sube? Ive had more wet floors than I care to think of just because of rust spots on the floorpans. The rust lets the water up to the carpet, and it pools on your floor..... but the carpet doesnt let the water back out:-\ If no rust....Id have to say double check your seams & seals.
  19. *pukes* I'd love to come down with my 86 brat though.... Im 5 hrs out, so I'll probably camp friday night.
  20. 1993 Legacy wagon ....260,000 miles with same engine and tranny. Goes so well I just put another timing belt and all the goodies into it. Looking forward to the next 100,000 miles!
  21. One that always works for me is PB BLASTER. Spray'er down..... beat with hammer..... wait for a while.... repeat.
  22. Most grease I've found wont soak in as well. It also has a tendency to dry out and flake off (in my experience)
  23. Dont get me wrong..... there is no replacement for grinding ALL the rust off, rust proofing (POR-15 is great stuff) and/or repainting. However, if you are like me....and drive a soob that you bought for a few hundred bucks, and that has significant rust.... you probably just want something fast and easy to slow the rust down, and without spending lots of $$$....or large amounts of your time:grin: I put the oil in a big squirt bottle, and heat the bottle in some boiling water (just until it gets hot enough to flow freely) Then you shoot it into all the rust-prone areas you can find. On areas already rusted through.....your best bet is to grind back to good metal, and fix it right if you can. PS - used oil seems to "soak into" metal better than new oil, and sticks on longer. (my grandfather has painted parts with used oil for 50 years) -just my redneck 2 cents:grin:
