synthetic oil MYTHS
what i ment is, if the oil isnt getting dirty, then where is the dirt staying??? the oils purpose isnt just to lubricate, its to cool, and clean. Friction gets things dirty, oil and its filter clean it.

EA82T oily T-belt failure
About the covers. Their there for a reason, to keep dust and rocks and chunks of mud from getting all over you tbelt, but I would definately leave them off until you are sure shes running at peak perfomance, IE: timed correctly.

synthetic oil MYTHS
What you just said is like me saying, my pure water will last longer even if I dump a bunch of dirt into it. Its the same amount of oil, so if it took longer to get dirty, wheres the dirt going? And the 3000s mile BS is from many mechanics who I have talked to about oil and they all agree, 3000 is a good interval. Your stupid if you pay the dealer to change your oil, unless your wife is alone and is incapable, but a caveman(sorry cavemen) could do it. You really think PH balances in an engine that gets that hot??? Acid isnt in oil.

86 GL Idle Issue
you can check for vaccum leaks with brake clean, if the engine raises in idle after spraying a particular hose, then youve found it, or excuse me one of them!!!

synthetic oil MYTHS
My Gl-10 runs mobile 1 10-30, (as russ stated:headbang: ). Regardless on what anyone says, about any vehicle, even 50 years from now(if cars still run on petrol, of COURSE THEY WILL:banana: ) I change oil and filter at 3000 miles, on my dads f250, isuzu NPR (which curently will never run synthetic) and the 04 taco, so about the oil filters, buy a quality filter, FROM THE DEALER, or from someone like Mahle, purolator, or KAM(not to be confused with K&N). Use an OEM filter because they were designed for the vehical with the engine in mind, not your pocket... Wix has nice thick filters too. You guys should check them out, they brag their filters have like more pleats.

Yeah those bags are preety much fubard!

will an ea82 fit in a legacy?
hahaha I like how you changed your name to semi elite master!! NICE!... As for the engine, if you really want a 1.8 I would do a EJ-18 it makes enough power to shove that thing around... and with the right tuning, turbo, ect... it could, would, go faster than an omni GLH... I LOVE THAT ACRONYMYMMYMMYNM(is that how you spell it.)

WHY!!! Im at a loss
I would use a Heli Coil or Thead Sert... those 2 brands wont let you down.. I believe Heli Coils are like $30 for a set in napa.. it comes with instructions... and some coils. You just drill it out and tap it using the given tap... and insert the coils with the provided tool... Thread Sert is better but I dont know where to get them!! I hope it helps... The bolt thing will work.. but my favorite saying is "if its worth doing, its worth doing right". Dont dis the EA82 i know it can be a pos but... poop happens

some questions on an engine rebuild (for a noob)
I think it would be fun to purchase a briggs & stratton rebuild kit for one of their older "Sport" Engines... I have a 3horse on my cheapy fiberglass frame gocart... and it needs a rebuild... If you really wana learn engine theory then I would suggest taking apart one of those... and rebuilding them... and hone it... unless you got a Cast Slieved. (spell)
