beataru replied to Crawlerdan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well i have a Gl-10 so... my post my be EXTREEMLY BIASED.. GL-10s were the beeeees neees model of the subaru... until the (cough) STI came out... what are you talking about?? I did not jump any models! -
EA71 - burt valve or BURNT valve?
beataru replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Typo, unless it has a Burt McCollum valve in it HAHAA -
some questions on an engine rebuild (for a noob)
beataru replied to crazy D's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think it would be fun to purchase a briggs & stratton rebuild kit for one of their older "Sport" Engines... I have a 3horse on my cheapy fiberglass frame gocart... and it needs a rebuild... If you really wana learn engine theory then I would suggest taking apart one of those... and rebuilding them... and hone it... unless you got a Cast Slieved. (spell) -
really dumb and stupid question but... Is that your buggy in your Avitar???
-
I dont know but did I see my rig before it got smashed??? is that russ in my roo??? or does someone else have a whatever blue gl-10 wagon with a rack?
-
STOP... hammertime... isnt there something you can hit with a Hammer to make it run... I saw it in Goldeneye.. so it must WORK!!!

Wise decision..... Very wise!! -
that first vid is wierd... I like it because it displays the toughness of a Roo but... I dont like it because that rig could have been once serious swamp machine.

Get a Hone or send it in.. AND GET IT HONED!!!! this will ensure that your new rings seat properly and wonderfully.. OH YEAH.... this step is extreemly important... TAKE... YOUR.... TIME... and read up on porting... remember dont polish your intake its supposed to be rough but you can port it out!! just use the gaskets for reference.. then port and polish your exhaust!!! if you really want to get have your heads machined to a 5 angle cut.. but thats well.. if you wana... Clean off all the gunk thats in there.. go to wallyworld or something and bring $100 or more... and buy alot of B-12 chemtool and Gasket remover and NON-chlorinated brake cleaner!!! oh yeah and on that note invest in some nitrile gloves (alot) and Saftey glasses.... brake clean is one of the worst feelings I have ever expierenced!! 2nd only to brake fluid!!! OH IT HURTS. well.. im done rambling Oh yeah.. as for gasket sealer.. I would reccomend Toyota bond... Its not cheap by anymeans.. But it is the best gasket sealer I have ever used... I know people at Porsche and Mercedes that use it primarily!! and blahblahblah... 2 hours later... blahblahblahblahblah turn the key and fire it up!! Oh yeah.. when you finaly get it backtogether.. and your ready to crank it, disable the engine and crank it for 10 secs, then wait 5 secs... then crank it again until you get oil pressure... then fire it up and do the breaking procedure that you can find somewhere on the world of Google.... blahblahblahblah... sorry -
Its soooo Clean!!! WOW... Check the fuelpump... I wouldnt put it past it that its bad!!! it looks so good though.. WAX IT BABEY

*sigh* going to take the plunge into EJ swappageness!
beataru replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Yeah im almost sure that it will... or it wont fit... but thats what welders and plasma cutters are for :-\ -
And besides... thats not wheelin thats rompin... theres plenty of subies that HAVE been off roads, yes the kind that you crawl up not floorboard it!!! I tried to take my car,not the one in my backyard, up on a light (minimal off road) you know a bunch o rocks with ditches and oh yeah thats the word "Forest Trail" and it did it BEAUTIFULY!!!!!!! extreem wheel slipage of course.. but my roo doesnt have low!!! and not to menchin the turbo wouldnt spool so I had no torque!! but it refused to make me walk up the hill!! Thats a Loyal Loyale HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I just thought of that.... ok lame. But roos can be lifted and can make things happin!! so you say of course a highly moded subaru could do it... Well those vids all had highly modded jeeps and rovers!!! So from what you said, am a right in saying a highly modded 3 cyl Geo metro could make it up the Ruby???? I guess so! Now I dont want this to become a boxing match but serious soobers... take offense extreamly seriously and quickly if you dis the roos youll..... well I need some help on that one!!! I am a serious soober... but I try to know that my car is well just a car!!!! But its a subaru so its badass

I know the Old GL wagon in my backyard (carb) could stop on a fully snowed 75% grade hill. And then get up and go from a complete stop (without slipping the clutch!)

Since your gonna have the intake off anyways.. why not port match it??? just use the gaskets for reference.. My bro in law is doing that with his ej25 stock mani... its hugly bigger after he matched it to the gasket!! hes going to get them flowbenched soon also!! ej257 power!!! Anyways... your rides gonna be super sweet... of course youll still hangout with the old subaru crowd right?? your knowledge about 82ts is very helpful!!! -
treky??????????

pistons arnt forged in ejs their cast. the drop and go Idea is probably the best for now... until you get passed by some really really suped up poopra.. then youll find a way!!! -

-
See Korea make good cargo ships.............................................uh...... And good TIRES!! SIMILARITIES???? no?

if it has a built in VR then ... there probably wont be conflict unless the regulator in the alternator is lower than the regulator in the car... wait!! captain stupid has left the building..... 12v=12v although ac is different than Dc and it converts it to............ DUH never mind about that... I would just fire her up and well.. its old school but hook it up to a vat 40 and load test it!!! it should charge fine... if all of your fusible links and fuses and resistors and whatnot are intact then... your good to go!!! good choice on that battery... it wont let you down for at least 6 years or most likely more... optimas should be replaced around every 5 years.. so ive heard but ive seen them go as long a 7 years!!! but not without fatigue 4-6 years is premo!! have fun with your roo!
