Pointers on swapping D/R into a Loyale.
Well, the ea82 is in all wagons/ coupe/ sedan models from 85 up. Brats and hatches continued untill out of production in 87 and 89 respectively.

lug conversion?
And look into the rear e-brake mod using nissan calipers. Your front brake upgrades would be virtually limitless.

86BRATMAN replied to ashleem's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI knew I kept the one from my wagon for a reason. I've got the whole cover, with book. Might even have all the warrantee crap, but I'll have to check.

Rear hatch shocks blown
86BRATMAN replied to ericem's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAlso check your local parts store. Stuff like this is one of the few things I'm not strictly oem about.

Finally got a new(er) Subie!
You should be ok with only 500 miles. If its piston slapping though you might think about heading up from the 10w-30 to a 10wor15w-40, also I've always been recommended to keep with the same brand of oil as has been used in the car. They use somewhat different additives, and over time seals and such get conditioned to these. Never looked into it much, but I'm a solid believer in valvoline myself.

Brumby conversion: EJ22, hybrid AWD center lock, SUCCESS!!!
Well, the fact that it worked for a little while makes me think its the iac faulty itself, not wiring. But stranger things have happened. However if the ecu was burnt up, I doubt it would do much of anything, like uberoo's bad ecu. I came to the conclusion I'm going to need my stock guard down there as well. With it bolted on its about 4 inches from the ground now...

Lowering an ea81
These are the 2wd's on it right now. I will be making a j/y run friday or saturday weather permitting. If they Have some decent xt6 stuff I'll be getting it anyways, and won't need my 4wd ones. I could mod and send them.

welded rear idea
Only turbo legacy with a almost certain lsd was the 91, all others are 3.90 open diff. The 90-91 autos were 4.11, as noted in another post, *most* other auto's were 3.90's Also , the diffs bolt holes are the same bewteen new and old gen's I've got a 5spd 4.11 ratio rear end ready to go into the brat when I get my ne d/s made for the swap.

Finally got a new(er) Subie!
5w-30 is a bad thing... Trust me I spun a bearing quick with it. As far as interferance I do believe that 96-97 was the begining of the phase 2 interference motors. Congrats on the car. Now lets see some pics:banana:

how bad can it be?
86BRATMAN replied to Uberoo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAll the valves in the motor pinging. At least thats what dad called it. it was detonating like a mofo. Stuck thermostat most likely. Might be the cause of it popping off the hose as well.

AFIK, they are the same on all the 90-94(89-93? over there). If its a malfunction with your part, and not wiring related, there is zero chance of hurting his. Probable about 2% chance even if it is wire related.

Since I'm gonna cut some 4wd springs in the near future... If you want these I'll send them your way

Lowering an ea81
I'm in love.... I wouldn't mind a change of scenery. But the family would be missed too much. Maybe a trip out west with some cash and a gooseneck trailor from work... Hmmm how many subes will fit on a 26 footer???? Now that is the question.

Lowering an ea81
Rust is an all too common thing here. Thats why I'm going to weld in stainless wherever it needs it.... I mean, I'm going to make a new brat out of stainless..... It has literally ben years since I've seen a gen 1 anything on the road within a 3 hour radious of here. Edit... Be a real lower rider guy and shave the door handles too!!!

OK, search did not help :Torque Bind 1992 4EAT
86BRATMAN replied to Gnuman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't have any info on the power light check. If it turns out the soleniod is good yet it still suffers, consider this the cheapest remidy, well other than a j/y tranny http://legacycentral.org/library/torquebind.htm

Lowering an ea81
Awesome man, I was hoping you'd still have pics of that one since the old photo albums were gone:headbang: . I've got my stock springs too, I just wanted to get an idea of how much to cut using the 2wd's from the parts hatch. I wanna put the 4wd's on before it goes to the road since they have the height adjusters as well. Oh and speaking of mud flaps... Disregard the rusty rockers. i'm back east:mad:

Lowering an ea81
Thank you. I've got some pretty good plans for it coming. Its in mid stages of ej swapage right now. And I spent the majority of my budget for finishing it on the down payment for the wifes car, but at least its a subie too:banana:

I've had a little experiance with cut springs before. And its not really that bad, people who say it handles like crap probably didn't do it right( heating too much or baking the springs will kill off any spring rate they have) My last integra w/ cut stock springs handled just as well as my integra before that with aftermarket skunk2 springs. Low-rider guys have been doing it for years.

Brumby conversion: EJ22, hybrid AWD center lock, SUCCESS!!!
EEEK, the motor/sensor on top of the unit has probably got a short in it. Are there any legacy/liberty's you could sneak the iac off of for a test?

XT6 fogs on EA82 car
Go to pretty much any parts store, in the section where the fog lights are sold, look for a fog light wiring kit. Make sure you get one with a relay setup, otherwise you run the risk of burning the switch up, or wire fires.

Towing BRAT 700 miles. Dolley?
NOt witht the stock ea81 d/s, he could undo 4 and wire it up out of the way. But I would consider that work for nothing, but thats just me. If it happened to come undone on the journey, he'd loose all the tranny fluid and need to stop and recover the shaft.

XT6 fogs on EA82 car
It was a factory option, my white 86 brat did not have the wiring, but the maroon one I have now does. Still running the original subie relay!

Lowering an ea81
Asking for more info isn't a hijack in my book:) For right now, I'm using a cut a set of 2wd springs/struts. I cut about 1 3/4 coils out of each, or was it 2 3/4 coils... I'll look tomorrow. I'm going to be purchasing a coilover kit in the future(five lug swap +xt6 struts, or if this rides like poo, and it probably will) I removed the springs, and marked them both at the same time so they'd be even. And used my angle grinder with a cutoff wheel, and wear eye goggles or something, as the disc will begin to disintegrate and throw stuff at you. If you want some pics of the front I can pull it apart this weekend to illustrate.
