  1. i was wondering, to me lit seems like the spider intake would work with the regular MPFI system, i mean everything, bolt up to where the injectors plug in at their little blocks, and everything else. because i snagged a spider, non-turbo, intake today at the bone yard for free. if i want i can also go grab the wiring harness and the rest of the system, its off a wrecked 91 XT, 4lug, 5st 4wd car. i would buy the whole car but the driver fender is pushed up about an inch from the valve cover, and the passenger side is about 2 extra inches away now, so the whole frame is shoved. or could i pull the ECM, harness, and everything else, its only missing one fuel injector, and plug it into my wagon. my main question about that is will that ECM plug into the stock system of my wagon, or will i be cutting and splicing? Thanks for any information. Shean ^my new intake
  2. read his title, it says springfield, OR, i think that means Oregon, if i am not mistaken.
  3. well you could move the turbo, or rotate it, all you have to do is cut off the pipe for the wastgate, rotate the turbo, and then weld it in its new angle. just a thought.
  4. well if i wait till i get my lisence then i can take it into my school auto schop, where my 3rd period is and do the work myself there with all the tools and such. also i get my student discount through Napa, so i can use that to my advantage on some of the parts.
  5. that was the other thing, they where gonna do work to the tentioner also, and a few otehr things, i cant remember it all right off hand. i would do it, but when i do have time the weather is crap and when i dont, its sunny. so it sucks for me. Shean
  6. congrads, sounds like your havin fun. Good Luck, Shean
  7. ok, i called up Brian's Subaru, a local shop here in Burien, and talked with the owner, Brian, who i have known for a while. since i got that oil leak on my wagon i wanted to see how much it would run ,me to replace everything. he quoted me at $110 for valve covers, and $425 for a new timing belt, cam seals, o-ring, oil pump, main seals, basically everything that a subaru takes a leak from will be replaced. so does $535 sound good, i dont have the time to do it myself, nor help from the weather. Thanks, Shean
  8. skip, ya i ment fusable link, and sorry then i am wrong, i assumed that they where throughtout the car like that crysler and my old 78 chevy, but subaru is different, and i should have thought of that before opening my mouth, thanks for the info. caleb, that was pretty good, i left myself open for tha one. Later, Shean
  9. i would recoment picking up your car manual and making sure about that fusable link, it sounds like thats the problem. and sorry, skip but they are not always located by the battery. we had a crysler at auto shop taht had this same problem as well as many others, but the link was actually in the wiring that ran to the tranny, it poped inline and the FSM didn't have it listed, so we had to trace the wire, and cut out the old and redo it with a new one, also re wrapping all of the wire along the way so it was not to be chafffed through be rubbin on the tranny. good luck man, also check your fuel pump relay, sometimes that will go beserk and only let the car run for a few seconds and maybe a minute.
  10. Turbone, i take no offence to what you said, you have a very good point. but i have drivne many subaru's, owned them before and worked on them ALOT since my grandpa had a 87 GL wagon, 4wd, 5sp, that we changed from hitachi to MPFI. also his 1980 brat. i know a decent amount, but not that much about the swaping part of it, that i am new two, i never paid attition to what parts we had, mainly because it was also like 5 years ago. also, no i havent been driving and i have just under 6 weeks until the 6months is up so i get my lisence back. Thanks, Shean
  11. ok great, thanks on the info about that, and ill have to contact him about that. also thanks for pointing out the CR, i read that off the page on here for my EA82, oh wel. Thanks, Shean
  12. ok, big request, but can you guys get me some pictures of everything you are talking about, if its this complex, i might now be doing the swap. i will probally just find a EA82T engine and put that in, and go from there, rather then pay for a rebuild kit, rebuild the engine, buy the wiring harness and everything else. ill have to price some EA82T engines and find out what i can get. so if anyone then knows of a turbo ea82 in the pacific northwest that is for sale please PM or e-mail me the contact information. Thanks, Shean
  13. skip, ill go and take pictures of everything i got from the guy. i do have the cam, heads, dizzy, valve covers, intake, throttle body, turbo down tube, cross over pipe, plug wires, and a few other things. the engine im getting is the same as the one in my 86 wagon. im going to put in the turbo cam, put on the turbo heads and all that, but keep the short block the way it is with 9.5:1 compression ratio. and i go real up on all that stuff you posted, thanks for that help. also, for the fuel pump, since my car is carbed, do i need to put a new one in the tank, or can i put it some where else? and i do have to put in a return line huh? archemitis, thanks for the heads up on the wiring, that doesnt bother me, ive put a newer chevy LS1 into a 67 chevy truck, and wired everything into the stock system, no problems with wiring. Thanks guys, Shean
  14. well im not going to use the stock down pipe, i was thinking of using my stock edhaust that bolst to the heads and goes back then run a 3inch waste gate to a dump towards the ground, would i have any problems with this, how loud would it be? if its too loud then i toss a glass pack on it and then a turn down under the car. also im grabbin a BOV or pressure relife valve off a volvo this sunday when i go to a 20 acher bone yard. so if anyone needs parts, PM me and ill see what i can find. Shean
  15. oh and by the way, can someone make a list of every sencor, and part im going to need to make the MPFI and turbo swap onto my 86 GL wagon with a Hitachi. Thanks a bunch, Shean PS can someone tell me where i can get the cheapest re-ring kit for a genII, i think, the EA82 with the box around it. also what pistons should i run i want to have alot mroe power then the stock junk, and i was looking at the stats, it says with 7.7:1 compression it had only 111hp, what if i boost that up and maybe be 8.5 to the stock 9.5:1, what numbers would i be looking at, and if i did do this what problems might i run into. also can someone send me the article on how to build the manual boost controller? Thanks, Shean
  16. picked up a MPFI system, turbo heads, turbo, Y-pipe settup, cam, dizzy, and a few otehr things, pretty much everything i need to do the swap, i think just a few things here and there like the harness and ECM, and i should be good to go. tomarrow, or if i can tonight ill get pictures after i clean everything. Also the heads, a custom cam, and other stuff is going on another EA82 im getting for free and rebuilding. once im finished i will take the MPFI off my current engine, which i am putting it on for now, and put it on the second engine, with the turbo also. then drop it into the wagon. if anyone can help me out with helpful info on how to install this, boost HP very cheaply, etc please PM me or e-mail it to me. Thanks, Shean
  17. wel i got everything tonight, see other post for more info, but i am also getting another EA82 engine that im putting the turbo heads and MPFI system on along with the turbo, lower compression pistons, and rebuild it with a custom camshaft taht is built for upper power band power for the turbo. also i will later run a WRX turbo and inner cooler. so if anyone has any tech articles and/or info please e-mail it to me. Thanks, Shean
  18. well it a MPFI, with the stock turbo, and everything i need to swap it over, im gonna use my stock 5sp n/a tranny that is 4wd in my 86 wagon. i just want to know how hard and how long it would take to do the swap withthe engien in the car? Thanks, Shean
  19. ok then let me clarify, all these parts are off the same car, a 89, i think he said, GL-10. same car, same parts, it comes with the fuel injection, and i mean everything, he said just bolt on the turbo heads, then everything else and your done. also is the stock turbo internal or external wastgate, if its external im gonna cut the whole bigger and run a 3.5inch or 3 inch wastegate out to the bottom of the car, and keep my stock exhaust from the trubo heads back, if that will work. if its internal, then what do i do, do i HAVE to tie it into the stock exhaust, and ifso does anyone have a EA82T Y-pipe i can get?
  20. if i get a complete turbo settup, heads, full SPFI system with harness, rails, verything i need to go form hitachi to SPFI, and then put on the stock turbo system do i have to change the ECM, everything is off a turbo car, but is there any difference between the N/A SPFI system and the turbo SPFI system? Thanks, Shean
  21. the hardest part was pushing all the wiring back into the dash to put it back together. there are 6 194 red bulbs, then one mini one that i didnt change and made no effect. 4 bulbs are for the gauges, and 2 are for the turn signals, they are all labled on the circut board on the back. no i got the selector 4wd by the way, no push button. Shean
  22. well if you can find me someone who has those peices for CHEAP, then ill sell you mine for that price. and yes, Power Brakes, 4wd, 5sp.
  23. ya i was gonna go blue, BUT red is much better for night vision, same with green, but i like red better, much easier to get red bulbs compared to green.
  24. stock they are 194 size, so i just went to the local ricer import shop, Auto Zone that is, and picked up a set of red 194 bulbs for like $2.29 per pair. but like i said, i still have to change everything else in the dash over so its all red, rather then red with white in the sides, that already anoys my eyes just sittin in the drive way.
  25. well got home tonight and tossed everything back together with regards of the gauge cluster, well then come to find i lost the off button for the HAVAC and one screw, so looks as if im going to the bone yard for that. oh well i have to pull it all back off again later on to change the headlight color from white to red, same with the HAVAC system controls and wiper controls all to red bulbs. but here they are with the new bulbs, also found out why my rear defrost didnt work, helps if its pluged in. and with the ultra blue bulbs for turn signals. just a few more things like change the interior color from brown to grey, replace the bumper and fender, fix dents, paint, tint, lower, then onto the EJ22T and FT AWD 5sp tranny and im done.
