  1. The other day I was going to the parts store for a new radiator cap and a quart of oil. As I was exiting my lifted 86 brat and I closed the door I heard a sound that was a little more than then usual window rattle. When I returned from making my purchased I found that the door would not open from the inside or outside and something in the latch had broken now here is the dilemma The only ea81 cars around here are over an hour away but there are some ea82 nearby. would the inner latch assembly from a ea82 work on a ea 81?
  2. Yeah add some more pictures of the hatch brat. and while you are at it did you add those steps on the tan one or what?
  3. best way I have found to deal woth a burst heater hose is to disconnect the good hose from the fire wall and reconnect it where the burst hose comes out of the engine. This isolates heater from engine and seals system:rolleyes:
  4. Cut the rear doors in half and weld the front part of the rear door to the front door add a latch suchas those used on a fence and waaaala easy access
  5. The two doors tend to have more room. my 4door legsee feels pretty cramped. Remounting seat brackets shound not;) be 2 hard
  6. On bratsrus1 photo album their is a tan hatch that is lifted and chopped and looks like it has a step.
  7. Go for 1 piece, swapped in rx 5 spd in brat had to consider all options but since it didndt have a good place to mount center bearing I went with a single piece. 50 1/2 inches of new tube, old universals 185.00 and I was rolling again.
  8. dude you bought a used car at night and your calling him a jackazz. If i was spending 2 grand no take that back If i was spending more than 200 on a used car I would go over it with a fine tooth comb at high noon! Oh well you just got 2000 dollars worth of the best education possible:dead:
  9. design som sort of compressed air powered back up starting system. I have seen roll cages designed to hold compressed air for reinflating tires after 4x4 ing .
  10. Try talking dirty to it that always works for me also a slight taper on the end of the roll pin works wonders. To pull the axle through the bearings I use a 10 lb weight with a hole big enough for the threaded portion of the axle then use castle nut to pull axle through:headbang: your getting there you just have to be tougher than the old *************** of a car
  11. sounds to me like the spacer that sits between the bearings is catching on the axle. reach in the hole and align the spacer with the bearings. hope this helps have changed many a cv and they are rarely easy !
  12. I am about to do this same thing at school on the bridgport what size bit did you use? My instructor is wanting me to drill it and then ream it to size I think he's crazy cuz theres people on here who have done it by hand and it comes out well ok i guess.
  13. I have an 86 brat and it does not have the steps in front of the rear wheels that I have seen on other brats and some hatches. was this an option that came with the jump seats or is it for roof rack / topper access?
  14. you learn something new every day both of my old struts were like the top picture I had assumed they were original equipment but I geuss not the adjustable height nuts come equipped as long as you get the ones for the 4wd dont remember what kind but any parts store should still be able to tell you. If the right side is still original equipment that may be the weirdness you are experiencing pretty old for a strut.
  15. HAVE DONE THE SEARCH AND JUST NEED VERIFICATION 90-96 ej22 are non interference, newer models are interference. I take this to mean that compression is higher or valve travel greater so that if T belt breaks piston hits valve and bingo bango bent valve or worse is this correct. Also ea 82 front control arm how much longer than ea 81 front control arm ?
  16. I prefer the d/r life is all about choices and with the dual range you have three variations fwd for economy and speed 4wd hi for tearing it up and 4wd lo when towing hil climbing or sticky icky (mud that is)
  17. Thats pretty weird, there seems to be something more to your dilemma the incomplete side is missing the rounded spacers as wellas the studs. I think if you dig into the rust you might find that they were intentionaly modified maybe some kind of shabby repair these struts are still available I bought a pair last year about $80 per and I have seen them on ebay for much less. if you go the junkyard route you would be best off getting the whole unit ie: spring and strut as you would need a spring compressor kit to remove and replace the spring. A lot of hassle for less than 1" of lift but that passenger side may not be entirely safe.
  18. Mine states on the title that it is a truck. Needed to put truck plate on it here in wisconsin. Lady at the dmv wasn't about to listen to my protests as truck plates cost more.
  19. why do you need or want to replace your brumby? don't know what a toyota surf is but toyota trucks have a very good reputation. recently saw one in town for sale have to coness I considered buying it even though I already have three vehicles (two of them subes)
  20. This is sort of off topic so forgive please but I noticed a lot of talk about deliveries. This caught my eye cuz I to am a pizza delivery person I wonder how many of us out there are? I don't use my brat now cuz the place I work for has it's own van but when I live in Fresno Ca I did use my brat when I worked for pizza hut. good job for when your going to school.
  21. what happened to the tires&rims that were on it in the original pictures those were bad a$$ and would look awesome on my brat tat tat.
  22. so basically you made the holes bigger towards the outside. was it trial and error until you got he correct pattern
