Chevy wheel swap Q?
carfreak85 replied to hardtail_pride's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have a set of pre-drilled chevy LUV wheels if you'd like them. Low offset and 15" I believe. -

Dude, just rent a tow dolly. When you told me what you guys were thinking of getting, I pictured something else... LIKE A TOW DOLLY! BOOM! http://reservations.uhaul.com/ReservationsWeb/Quote.aspx?rateID=479179050 Show that to your old man. Thats for a 24 hour, "In Town" rental. Its the same price as that tow bar you are looking at. (Which could be attached, but not without drilling/bolting or welding it on.) **EDIT** This is my 4,000th post, WOO HOO!!! -
Understeer + wet roads...

Give me a break. We dropped those as soon as we could and put on summer tires. RE92s = worst part of a WRX. -

What are you even talking about? Cars with front LSD that come to mind: DC2 integra type r Mazdaspeed protoge mazdaspeed 3 Subaru STI Dodge Neon SRT-4 '05-on True, they are all specialized sports cars, but that was kind of a blanket statement anyway. -
My favorite car zine.

When I installed the temporary OEM downpipe on my wagon a few years ago, the intake was really loud. The cat was fully plugged, but I don't recall clearly if there was any turbo noise. Might find a take-off OEM WRX downpipe off NASIOC or Craig's List and toss it on. Heck, find a WRX owner who will let you borrow theirs and do it all for free!

Thaaaats riiiight! Lets keep this thread on topic guys and gals! I've been watching and reading a lot of video reviews and comparisons of the 2008 STI lately that claim it is impossible to miss, and is visually very stunning with its fender flairs and "oversize roof spoiler". I'm sorry, but it just isn't. In fact is that I have nearly missed seeing a ton of them, just catching one out of the corner of my eye, and only becuase I already knew what they looked like. You can see an 04 or an 06 coming from a long ways off in the right colors. THAT is visually stunning. Having visual cache is something the GD series cars had in spades. Compaired to the standard car, yea, the new body does look pretty intimidating. Once you seperate it from its lesser stablemate, however, the new car blends in VERY quickly, and easily. This is not actually all that bad (One always likes to be able to slip into the crowd without too much effort) but at least the original STis (1993-4) at least had wings, vents and scoops. The first ones we legally got had big rump roast wings and "breaking wave" hood scoops. This thing looks like your average minivan or even a Jelly-Belly when compaired to it's older brother. Subaru, it seems, has had the unfortunate luck of bringing out-dated styles into production after they have reached their Zenith (Mazda 3, Carolla, etc. Didn't clear tail lamps fall out of trend almost as soon as it was hip? Toyota was the only one to really nail a "tuner fad" at it's peak with the Altezza). Don't get me wrong, it should have been this way from 2001 on. STi gets the rally jump suit while base models are dressed very plainly. Subaru did the right thing by visually driving a wedge between the top of the range and the rest can eat cake, as it were. I will say that the wing on the WRC test car is MUCH more like it!

Seriously going to put sti motor/drivetrain into wagon
carfreak85 replied to Jeepman775's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I don't think that a 13 second quarter mile is out of the question with enough HP and a hard enough launch. I saw a video of a 285 HP Justy STI run a 12.97 last night. Might have been a little faster, I don't recall. -

The difference is quite noticable between a wrecked GDB and GDA, but there are other ways of slipping a 2.5 into your car. However, you can pick up an OEM EJ257 shortblock in this part of the country for about $1,700. When engine blew in my buddy's GGA (didn't blow) he installed this short block and ported WRX heads with larger valves with some mild bolt ons and a reflash, its almost a dead heat versus our bone stock '07 STI in a straight line. I think he dyno'd at 230+ awHP and 260+ awTQ. That is an option too. -
Where to mount water temp sender?
carfreak85 replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm running an OEM thermostat (not sure what temperature), twin-OEM electric fans and a water cooled factory turbo. I don't think I need a fan running constantly this far North, but I would like to put one of them on a switch. My only concern is, what sensor am I removing to be replaced by the new one? I'd like to keep the stock sender for comparisons sake, but at the same time, I want to get the most accurate data. Thats in your upper radiator hose, correct? Didn't you have yours mounted somewhere else too? -

Are these possible to get (lights)

If there are any, I'd like a pair! -
Sweet job on the new radiator support, I wonder how far that idea can be taken as far as putting some electric fans on the front of the rad and moving the whole assembly closer to the engine. Might have to massage the fenders, but ultimate attack angle would be amazing As for those tires; :Flame:any surface.....except pavement! Niiiiiiice.

Ed, XTs aren't EA81s... Did they have an EA81T? I'll probably head out there tomorrow morning.
