  1. Yeah. That 215 tire is 8+ inches wide and unless you found some old enkeis or some other wheel that was the same 5.5" width, you still would be hard pressed to fit them on there. You would need wheels about 6.5-7.5" wide wheels for those tire sizes.
  2. The problem there is that they took a platform that was already a front heavy , understeering design and gave it an even grippier rear suspension. Now, what happens when you shift the chassis grip further rearward? Oh, right... MORE UNDERSTEER. Come on Subaru, put struts in the rear and give the front a double wishbone front suspension like it deserves. Edit: Just saw those STi pics. Hmmm, now I do LOVE our '07 STi, but there are things I don't like about it. The STi should be a "stripped down" version of the WRX, read: NO GPS, NO NO NO push button starter, NO god**** quad exhaust (it all goes through ONE turbo for god's sake). It looks sick, minus the clear tail lights, and if it performs as well as I hope it does, then I'm taking out a loan and buying one when it is released here, insurance costs be damned! If you couldn't tell I'm very opinionated about this. I fell in love with subarus long before the GD impreza came out and they seemed to be getting better and better. First, standard AWD in '96, 2.5RS in '98 (thats kinda what started my obsession), WRX in '02 (pitched a tent when that came out and now Mom has one), STI in '04 (Dad finally got one of those!). But now, with the WRX they fell off the wagon... But again I really like that new STi.
  3. Thirty mother************* dollars?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!??! Screw that. :Flame:Pay forums
  4. The EA82 carby manifold is, the factory EA82 carb isn't. More emissions garbage. Yes. Yes! Search for Delta Camshaft, they have several grinds for the EA81 these days. The SPFI EA82 pistons have 9.5:1 compression and a slightly better design from what I'm told. The EA71 pistons are only 9.0:1. After a certain point yes. I think you can get away with some VERY minor decking, but then the intake manifold will not line up. NO!!! :Flame:SMALL VALVE HEADS!!! The intake passages are already poorly designed, why make it worse? If you can get this little engine to spin fast enough, then yes. Otherwise, why would you want to adjust your valves? The engines with the larger valves were rated at 73HP @ 4800rpm and 94LB/FT @ 2400rpm. Ever thought about an EA81T?
  5. Make sure the radiator is free of debris and that the driver has plenty of snacks.
  6. Why the hell didn't you run a car?!!?
  7. Any new info on this topic? Will 25 spline DOJs fit on 4WD EA81 front and rear axles?
  8. Tim, any progress on the coupe lately? Also, has anyone actually put the FT4WD tranny in an EA81 yet? I'd like to get to that soon, but I've never read anything about putting that specific tranny in a gen 2.
  9. The results are up. Check them out under "Restults" then "Sports Car Spectacular". Karl and I did pretty well with a stock STi.
  10. My rear brakes lock before the fronts on my wagon. I haven't driven the hatch in a while but I'm sure it would too. The coupe may be similar, but I haven't driven it yet. This shows that there needs to be less rear bias, but I have never had my EA81s spin on me because of this problem.
  11. Wagonpowaa put a 32/36 on his '80 brat without any problems. I'll ask him to check his jets and then post them here.
  12. Why do you say that? The forced induction would work wonders on the poor flowing heads we have, in fact, didn't the factory go to forced induction rather than creating and producing sweet four valve, pent roof heads.
  13. Not to rain on the RX/II parade, but I've seen threads like this before and wonder if it might actually happen this time. DON'T TEASE US ANYMORE.
  14. You did it for the airfoil? For future reference the STi wipers have a larger built in airfoil. Would this work on an EA81?
  15. I would imagine that you would need a custom crossmember and shifters at the least. Probably some bashing on the transmission tunnel, those gen ones are skinny! Beyond that make sure the driveshaft will be the right length and spline count, etc. And check the rear diff ratio because the thought they had something odd like 3.900111111189:1 or maybe I'm wrong.
  16. Or just make some shims for the EA81 flywheel bolts, use the EA82 flywheel and clutch set up. Works fine in my wagon.
  17. Ten bucks plus shipping? And only made of MDF to boot, I'll make my own thanks. Good idea though...
  18. Practice on Saturday, with the actual event on Sunday. Who all is going to be there? Karl (T-WRX) and I will be getting used to the new race rig, so come support us or join in the action!! Link here: http://www.wwscc.org/
  19. Are the wife and kid still out of town? Because you have WAY too much time on your hands Eric...
  20. Hopefully I'll have the lifted rig finished by my birthday (Oct.) and I can meet you guys then.
  21. This has been hashed over a bunch of times in the past, but you need to really think about what is important to you. Do you want a lifted subaru or a fully capable 4x4? If you want to offroad heavily, buy a truck. If you want a lifted sube to offroad, buy an EA81. If you want a lifted subaru just to look cool in, lift an RX or XT6.
