EA81T Springs
They are only about 25lbs/in stiffer than a regular EA81 4wd spring, but they are shorter as well. I'll double check my FSM when I get home.

Headlight Conversion Finished W/ Pics
It can be a problem but there are many reasons I chose to mount the lights so low. The first is that the lights cut through fog and don't reflect back to your eyes the lower they are mounted. Also, since this is a turbo car I plan on modding, I wanted to keep the airflow to the radiator clear since there is already an oil cooler and A/C condensor in front of it, I chose not to mount them to the top of the bumper. Plus I think they look better down there.

UPDATE 74 Sedan: Headgasket : The Subaru Gods are smiling
My brother might be interested in the engine for his 75. I'll have to steer him towards this thread.

BOV on an EA82t?
A bypass valve eliminates compressor surging when the throttle is slamed shut, not just when shifting. Improves turbo life, and makes obnoxious sounds when vented to the atmosphere.

New Exhaust!!!
Yes it is a 5 speed (which I love!) and I had the stock downpipe on there for a while and had the 2.5" on there. Then I later got the 3" downpipe. Even with the turbo, I don't think this engine will flow enough to necessitate a full 3" exhaust. Sound/movie clip to come soon, maybe even today (its really nice out, FINALLY).

They are the Autopal brand off ebay. Two kits consisting of a high/low beam combo.

New Exhaust!!!
Nope, SS 1.5" primaries to 1 3/4" to the turbo. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=55274&highlight=header

New Exhaust!!!
Mmmmm 3" from the turbo to the rear of the tranny followed by 2.5" to the Flowmaster American Thunder muffler and topped off with a stainless piece of pipe for a tip. Oh soooo sweet!!

Headlight Conversion Finished W/ Pics
I can't seem to find the thread that was the original insperation for this project, but none the less I am finished with the headlights! Got these suckers off ebay last summer and just last week finished the wiring to get them to behave like the stock units. No cutting or splicing was needed but I did have to push the spade connectors out of their housings to mount on the new bulbs. The high beams had some chrome overspray on the outside of the housings that would ground the lamps that had to be delt with but other than that I am very happy with the results! I haven't done much night driving yet but besides having the blue bulbs that came with the lamps, the beam pattern is sharper and more focused.

Nothing's ever simple... (EA81T Quest For Glory!)
All that remains is to weld the mounts onto my wagon, but that wont happen until I have a week or so at my parent's place. Baccaruda, if you get to this before I do, please take as many pictures as possible.

Lowering Rear End > Torsion Bar
If the car is too low after clocking the semi-trailing arms then I will use this to adjust it back up. I will fully document the swap, but without internet access on my computer, I don't think I'll be posting pics soon. Hell I just finished a few major projects and I am not able to make a post about any of them!!!

Lowering Rear End > Torsion Bar
Hmmmmm, I'll have to take a look at that today after my chemistry lab. Did you re-clock the torsion bar or the semi-trailing arms? Did you notice a difference in spring rate or ride quality? Also, how much did it lower the car overall?

Lowering Rear End > Torsion Bar
Bump!

Its back!
Let me know how that steering rack stuff works out, I have been fantisizing about that for ages! Why an 04 STi rack? Different from 05 etc? Won't a WRX rack be better than the RX one?

Lowering Rear End > Torsion Bar
Does anyone have pics/ a write up on how to reclock the torsion bars on an EA81? I want to lower mine, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Open Source EJ Lift, let's get going
I think open source may be a good idea > Linux Lift Kits + i like doing stuff myself, rather than shelling out $$ for other people to do it for me + broke rump roast student student who likes money to stay in the bank. I wish that the specs of the kits were published so that those with the equipment could use that as a basis for their own. I have all the material to make a monster lift, but there is no set-in-stone, proven formula for a lift that I have seen.

Bob The Frankenbrat 1982 - 2007
PSSST*that probably would have been a good place to start* The EA81 is junk when powering a lifted rig.

You should try to scan that article so we can add it to the USC.

EA81T - Ticking Motor
I don't think so. If you used the EA81 flywheel then you're probably in the clear on that regard. Sorry I can't be of more help.

"Trimming air box"
I agree with Baccaruda, I noticed a huge difference in power when my cat was plugged up. All the power my little motor had to BARELY make it up hills was because of that cut up air box. I also haven't run across too many folks (Myself included) on this board who have the means to actually back up any mods they do with hard data (i.e. dyno tuning, measuring flow on a calibrated flow bench, etc). If I sounded a bit offended, that would be why. Its been a long weekend fighting :Flame:The Man.

Show me one example where someone used math...

EA81T - Ticking Motor
When I did the 5 speed swap on my wagon, I used the EA82 flywheel with EA81 bolts. There was enough extra space that the flywheel could wiggle around making a knocking sound. I fixed it with some shims. Could this be your problem?
