  1. Ditto. Run it in my EA81 and EA81T and they don't complain at all.
  2. Putting a body kit on an XT would probably kill the great time and effort that the Fuji engineers put into the aero design of the car. My guess is the Cd would be miserable. Why do you want a body kit anyway?
  3. Yeah, that is exactly what I'm asking! Only difference is that I want to do this myself, not pay to have it done. Basically, I want to know if its physically possible to put 25 spline EA82 inner cups on the inboard side of an EA81 axle and if it will last. Is it safe to do this myself, or is it something that should be left to professionals?
  4. EA81: 1980-84 (except brats 1980-81), 1985-87 brats, 1985-89 hatches EA82: 1985-89 (except brats and hatches), 1990-94 as Loyales
  5. I want to put a full time 5 speed tranny in my EA81, and after reading GeneralDisorder's write up on putting EA82 rear DOJs on EA81 rear axles. I got to thinking, "Would it be possible to do this to the front axles as well except using EA82 25 spline cups?" I imagine it would, but just wanted to ask around. What do you think about the reliablility/durability of these hybrid joints? Thanks for all input!
  6. Actually most EA81s had 3.900 rear ends, while only autos came with the 3.700 ring gears.
  7. Let me know how that clutch work out for you. I was thinking of something similar, but was wondering if going with multiple pucks was overkill on a daily driver vs. potential track car.
  8. So was there any difficulty in installing the EA gear stuff in the EJ box? Any grinding or silly things like that? I don't think I'm going to do anything like that, but I will be diving into a gearbox and swapping some gears around(3.9 gears into an RX box with 1.5 low range). I just need the voice of experience from someone whos been inside a gear box.
  9. PICS DARNIT!!! You can buy pre assembled control units on ebay and wiring the sensors is about as difficult as installing a set of fog lights.
  10. Stop trying to make BMWs!!!! The Legacy is not a BMW damnit!!! I can't afford/don't want one which is why I drive Subarus.
  11. I beleive that the stock rods are plenty strong for a mild turbo engine. Once someone builds a RELIABLE 200WHP engine, then mayb ecryo treat the rods, but most turbo engines have rods that will handle more that 1.5 times the factory output at least.
  12. Unless some of my local buddies want the car whole, I think I'm going to part it out. Need to talk to a guy about an RX before any commitments are made...
  13. Alright, I would like some opinions on this. I just picked up an 88 GL10 Turbo wagon. It has all the bells and whistles, diff lock 5 speed, LSD, sunroof. It also has a blown head gasket and possibly a cracked head. My question is what should I do with the car? Should I fix it and sell it? If so, what do you think its worth? Should I part it out? The reason I ask is that I might have a line on an RX, but I have no info on it. HELP!!
  14. F@(% yeah man!! Gotta love old school offroading. I'm thinking about diving in on a lift build myself, so keep us updated on this, oh and take a TON of pics!
  15. Except I'm going to use MegaSquirt'N'Spark. There are a bunch of guys up here who run it. My best friend has it on his SC Miata and another two have it on built/turbo golfs. I'm supprised you could afford the E-manage on a student budget. Oh, wait the two jobs thing, hahaha!!
  16. My goal only three years newer and a sedan instead of a wagon. Friggin' SWEET man! How was the e-manage to install/tune?
  17. I don't think it would be possible unless you had a turbo block. I uploaded a pair of pics of the two engines to my album. The longblock is the EA81T and the half block is the EA81.
  18. There are two more QS articles in the works. Do a search for an in depth discussion about it.
  19. Those are the full resolution files. As I scan more, I will dump them into that folder (Assuming I don't reach my maximum limit). I don't have the time/resources to build a page for the images, so if you guys could do it that would be fine too, just put my name at the top! HAHAHA:drunk: Tons of views, but nobody thinks this is cool? Just wait until I get an article about your car, then you'll think its nice. I like the fact that in the comparison article, the Subaru was #1!!
  20. Because the EA71 and EA81 are so similar, the discussion we recetly had about the latter engine I think applies. The tiny intake/exhaust ports and the fact that they are siameased means the engine has little ability to breath. Forced induction solves this problem, but why sink the money into an EA71 when the EA81, EA81T, EA82, EA82T, EJ18, EJ22, EJ25 and all EJT engines are superior designs that with some modification will fit into your chassis
  21. I've been sitting on this project for a while but just got around to doing something about it. I've got tons of material to choose from. Sit back, relax and enjoy! Mods, who do I contact about putting future entries into an archive? http://community.webshots.com/album/557871742veZHLY
  22. Alrighty, just got back to home base with pics of how to cut the grill for the larger, chrome 3rd eye cover. As you can see in the first picture, cut along the vertical zig-zag things. The second picture shows the angle to cut to clear the opening and closing of the cover. The best advice I can give to those doing this conversion in the future would be to TAKE YOUR TIME! Unless you have piles of spare grills, you can't go hacking them up. I would also suggest using a dremel or small (Tiny actually) recip. saw. Lastly, I would advise making a bunch of small cuts and trim the plastic away rather then large cuts. Make a small cut, test fit the grill on the car to see where it still contacts the cover and trim again. If too much plastic is removed, your grill will snap in half if anything touches it, so leave as much as you can!!
