  1. I honestly don't remember, atleast 10 years..... the other day she said she remembers when she could fill it up for around $10... so a while longer than that.
  2. Was out Friday in the Brat and ran into my friend Brenda in her mint '85? Brat, this car has always been nice but has been fell prey to the typical Subaru rust, last fall she had a ton of body work done and and got it repainted. I used to work with her, it was nice to yack about subarus with someone all day. Thought you guys might enjoy. I have more pics here.... http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a270/Silverbullet25RS/Brenda%20Brat/
  3. well, all of my lights pooped out this afternoon... so I shouldn't have to worry about headlights for a while
  4. So I need to replace the lights in my '79 Brat, you can hardly see with them. Trouble is, when I go to the parts store they only have headlights for the quad light front end, I have the singles w/ high/low together. I think the p/n for the quads are H5001 and H5006..... does anyone have a clue where I can get the lights I need or even better, know what halogen part number they are? Also..... if I can't get them, can I use the high beam for a quad in my car? Thanks!
  5. Haha, yeah..... there's nothing like getting grease in places grease should never go! j/k I did drop trou right there in the yard though to put on my shorts. It's rediciously hot.
  6. and the floor, inner fenders and rockers..... As for the color, don't get used to it. I'm going to go get a bunch of black primer in a while, thinking of doing a white top to repel heat...... that and I really want to go for the counterfeit Mini look:brow:
  7. Well, after two days of almost non stop work the brat is nearly ready for the road. My $120 brat ran decent but needed a tune up, thus far I've done plugs, rotor button, disty cap, changed the oil and put on a new front hub. After driving the car home I went thru and disposed of the carpet which was covered in mud. It's got it's fair share of rust, but for a car I have $156 in as it sets and a driver that everything works on, it can't be beat. See more here http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a270/Silverbullet25RS/The%20Brat/
  8. I may be up for this... I just got back from there 2 weeks ago and I'm ready to go back in either the brat or the wagon. BTW.... prices for houses down there are dirt cheap after Sept 1
  9. I think I may have found a hub locally, but does anyone make sheetmetal parts? I could use floor pans and sorely need a gas tank, maybe a hood and fender.
  10. Is there any suppliers for Gen 1 Brat parts? I just got a '79 and I need a hub and some other small things, so am I just going to be junkyard hunting or are there somethings I can get new/reman?
  11. I would've but since I crashed it I've had a big hole where the radio used to be.... I need to buy another one soon... something with an AUX in for my Ipod
  12. Yeah, but since I wrecked the car and had a battery turn over in the rear, I removed the carpet. So I too hose the back of mine out. Chick with the RS is my girlfriend (most of the time....don't ask).... and it's not her cat belongs to the friend with all the bricks. It was a PITA to load all of those bricks, but made for a nice photo op....and I have no idea what it weighed... I'd say each brick was 5lbs (+ or - 2lbs due to mortor) the cynder block things were maybe 10-15lbs.... there were about 5 of those and two of the cast iron things weighing in around 40lbs or so. Thanks on the Mach 1, it's my dads..... I almost bought it, but it came down to that or the RS... I like a/c and good gas mileage too much now..... so RS I went. It is for sale (as well as my Torino) if you know anyone that's lookin'
  13. 415 bricks to be exact, plus a couple cynder blocks and some cast iron drain things. It hauled this plus me and a friend....... did ok until we hit hills and then the going was uh... slow. Let's see a Baja do that! I won't kill everone with a slow connection, so you can see more here http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a270/Silverbullet25RS/Other/ There are some on both pages I think. You can see in the pics, I was work out after loading all those things... I'm the blonde guy BTW.
  14. I would but I have a big hole where a stereo used to be. I like your idea, I 'm intending on doing something similar, looking something like those things that go in truck beds that fit over the wheel wells and have storage on either side. It's sounds confusing, if I find some pics I'll post up.
  15. look, he even climbed that rock in reverse. Seriously though, cool vid.
  16. I'm not sure myself.... I really like the OD Green side, but I wish the whole car was white...... my first two wagons were, I kinda miss having a white wagon. Wait until I put on the rear drivers door.... it's blue with a big rainbow stripe! BTW: it's been raining all day, supposed to for the next week No trouble finding mud now
  17. So it's not rained for like two weeks, but I always find the mud.
  18. Thanks, yeah that's pretty much where I'm at, I shouldn't have to do much cutting on the drivers side as you can see but the pass is in better shape.
  19. Ok, yeah.... that helped a lot. I just don't want to have to hack into the door or anything, all of the metal behind the door is rusted out, so cutting it isn't even and issue, I just want as large as I can with the tires. Good info though, makes sense. Thanks.
  20. I've noticed a lot of lifted wagons the rear wheel seems like it's been moved foward quite substantially. Just wondering if there is any way to avoid this or how much it plays a role in tire fitment? I'm intending on going with a 3.5 kit from Ozified, I don't care much about having to cut the front fenders because I want to go with the largest tires I can on 15' Toyota wheels, I'm just afraid I'm gonna hit the door in the rear.
  21. I've considered doing it before, I wouldn't imagine it would be hard. Just block off the front and weld on a tongue. I suppose you could put a hitch on the the trailer itself and wagon train?

    Video!
