  1. If you need 4.44 auto swap parts, I have all of it from a low mileage Forester. Your location says "Welches." Is that the Hood village Welches?
  2. I have an extra low mileage SVX motor if you decide to go this route. I'm over in Spokane. If you decide to do the v8, I'll be eagerly awaiting the build thread! ha ha. Hopefully you have lots of pictures!
  3. that's the build I'm hoping to accomplish... they make a ton of midrange tq from the factory and rev to the moon.
  4. Thanks, guys! 82gl4 - you are doing the same thing I want! Sweet. I hadn't thought of the mudflaps. thanks for the advice. What size tires have you stuffed under that vehicle as it currently sits? I'm really glad we don't have the salty roads here. where I'm at, there's always several feet of snow per year, but little to no danger of rust. it's way less humid here in the West. Lucky us! bheinen - love the TW. how could you sell that?! We'll see how my Hakka 5s fare on this rig. 4 different rubber compounds, mineral oil, siped, and square studs, baby! What else, boys and girls? Where's that guy from Alaska with those enormous blue driving lights on his Lego? I want info on that rig... forgot his username...
  5. website is dead. I'm also curious about what happened to this.
  6. I don't think anyone has successfully completed one. It seems like a very difficult project. The front suspension would have to be drastically reconfigured. Most people settle for a forced-inducted 4 or 6-cylinder making similar peak hp/tq numbers. If you do it, though, we'll all be eagerly awaiting the result. That would be an impressive feat.
  7. Here's my vehicle, and the proposed modifications/changes I want to make: '94 Touring wagon. 140k miles. runs like a champ. Mods in the works: - I have Forester struts/springs that will go on it soon - I have a CB for it - Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 winter tires (27" diameter) mounted on 16s Planned additions: - Skidplate - cut front bumper with tube brush guard - roof rack - driving lights on the roof (I'm too afraid of deer/moose to put them on the bumper - top mount intercooler - big aluminum radiator - chipped ECU (for increased fuel economy and power) - free-flowing intake/exhaust - 5 speed swap (eventually) What else am I missing? Any other ideas or suggestions?
  8. I do a lot of driving in the winter. Road trips, skiing trips, driving to work after a 2 foot overnight dump, etc... My Subes have done well over the last few years, BUT...I want to put together a really great, reliable, capable winter rig. What parts/modifications would you include in the ultimate Subaru for long winter trips?

  10. oh, yes... this is the kind of progression we've needed for years. Can't wait to see the finished product.
  11. It was the timing belt. Needed a few new valves after the carnage. She's all fixed up and back on the road now.
  12. I missed all the exciting parts, but showed up for camping and revelry. I loved everyone's cars. Next year, I'll meet everyone for real. Big thanks to those who organized. It was awesome. We should do it at the same place next year. I think that's my favorite town ever! For everyone who missed out on trying the local fare at Walking Man Brewery, get in your car and drive there right now! Their beer is especially delightful (I recommend the Walking Man Stout) and the atmosphere is top-notch. cheers, y'all.
  13. didn't post this...thanks, father. (last time I stay logged in on someone else's computer. jeez) told you it was timing belt.
  14. that's really gnarly. I wish I could say I did it.
  15. I've always wanted something like this on my cars, but it seems every time I get the front of one of my cars looking nice...I hit another dang deer. I'm too afraid to put offroad lights out front.
  16. I was driving my 2006 legacy 2.5 down the freeway about 75 MPH. All of a sudden, it stopped running and I coasted to the shoulder. Not overheating, no fluids running out. When I turn the key, I hear the starter engage but the engine will not turn over. The car has 180,000 miles on it and the timing belt was replaced around 100,000 miles. Any suggestions as to what this may be? If it were the timing belt, does the engine usually still turn over?
  17. that is one hideous creation... ha ha. it's strangely beautiful, though...
  18. you're kind of hijacking, bud. this thread is about the wheeling trip. There are a lot of people here who will help you, but you have to go about it a bit differently. Search around some, and if you don't find the answer you need...start a thread about it. That's where you'll find answers. You gotta chill with the thread-jacking, though. Most folks don't want to hear about your car problems in threads about wheeling runs. We were all there at one point in our USMB lives, homie. anyway......... are you guys for sure going Sunday? and if so, will the potential camping happen saturday night?
  19. after reading this whole thing over again...I agree with this statement. "beer -OR- guns, not both." is pretty much my rule
  20. Are you keeping the stock XJ axles in it?
  21. They do ride very well. Almost like an AT- because, well, they are almost an AT...
