Thermostats for Comparison
As long as you replace the belt driven fan with something you will be ok. Subarus have 2 fans. The electrical fan is for the engine and the clutch type fan is for cars equiped with ac to keep them xtra cool.

Mystery Wires

Vehicle Selection
+1 Even if its a good deal some things are to much trouble. What you want is a basically any 79-89 subaru GL. Those have dual range trannys with both high and low range. Stick with a 5 speed because the auto trannys for these cars are troublesome and just plane suck. If it were me, i would stick with the fuel injection because though the ea81 engine is better (1979-84 in the wagon) ive seen the carbs on these engines be kinda headache. FI is much better for some of the extreme articulation the washington boys take there cars. Lots of people make lifts around here, you can go from simple 2 inch to extreme 8inch or more. Check out the offroad section and see some of the rides they have there. Wheels your limited to redrilling 6 lug wheels or finding some peugeot wheels. Its all been covered, spend a few hours useing the search function and i promise you you will have all your answers.

Engine swap, 2.2 into a Brat
I could give you a long elobarate answer but the simple one is yes it has been done lots of times. You will need an adaptor plate to fit it to the stock tranny and the wireing loom from a donar car. Type in ej swap in the search function and you get loads of info. Ben

No more low-riding for Guido...
I am almost convinced i dont have a bad wheel bearing now, probally just a really bad belt on the tire or something. There is a pretty good noise from the nobbys but no rubbing in back now. It does rub a bit when i turn but not bad. Yes considerably less noisy when driveing. No one told me how drastically change my car though. 5th gear is pretty much useless. Basically it drives like a 4 speed car now. Though with the wider stance it handles better.

No more low-riding for Guido...
Sweet 3eyed, cant wait. Here are some updated shots and a shot of the problem i had last night. I beat the heck out of the wheel well and they fit better now. Sadly to say Guido days are numbered. I cant see him lasting more then 3 years max. The body rust is really really bad. Groved the tire a bit but its hardly noticeable.

No more low-riding for Guido...
Minimal cutting will work for street driveing but with bad shocks as soon as you hit a bump. Funny thing happened on the way home fromwork tonight (buy the way everyone was stunned). Hit the railroad tracks which snagged a bit of the quarterpannel which bent it over the tire which then wedged itself against it. So driving 1mph home to the sound of braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa wasnt very fun but i only had a few blocks to go. Needless to say after the snow melts tomorrow or sunday im going to pull that tire off and bash the metal into submission. I didnt want to cut it but mick kept saying this is what we do this is what we do. and i wanted to be special also so i went against my better judgement. What i really need now is a lift boys.
