Right, primary open loop fueling and base timing is where you would make your adjustments. I've seen problems with meth kits, yes. I just did a version 8 sti swap for somebody and his meth kit was acting up afterwards. The pump would come on randomly when it was not supposed to and the connection at the nozzle kept coming off.

It's not going to be that hard to tune for the meth with ROM raider. In the areas of your fuel map where you are spraying the meth, set the afr leaner than what you actually want so the actual afr with meth is what you want. Watch the 02 sensor or wideband if you have one until your actual afr with meth matches your target afr. Then when you have that squared away you can add a bit of timing in the areas of your timing map where the meth is being sprayed. Really the hardest part will be figuring out at what load the meth kicks in. You'll have to do a bit of logging to figure it out.

Get a few cans of engine degreaser. Head for the local self serve car wash. Spray everything down with degreaser. Let it soak for 5 mins or so. Hit it with the high pressure hose. This will get everything nice and clean and make the leak easy to spot. Keep all the fluids topped off until you find the leak.

5 mins is not long enough to burn all the crap out of the exhaust. It usually takes me about a half hour of driving. An engine for a 90 legacy is dirt cheap. You can get them for $100-300. If yours is questionable just get another, not worth spending time and money on it. One last thing is I have no problem using aftermarket gaskets on a Phase 1 EJ22. I do it often. Every other EJ engine I work on only gets OEM gaskets.

Spark plugs take a half hour if you have never done them before. 10 mins if you have. Take out the battery, washer jar and air filter box to get access to them. All of those come out with just a few bolts. If your mechanic has been doing good with your 93 legacy, he will be fine with the WRX, it's not much more complicated really.

Subsitutes have been found for most of the parts. A few things like winshields are being reproduced now. The engines are very reliable once you get it all sorted out. A lot of the 360s have sat around for years and need to be gone over. I haven't even opened the engine cover of mine except to add oil for the last year or so.

The ff1 in the junkyard here in PA is still there. Some parts are left. The shortblock was still there and some other things.
