I got the Ecstas...I mean I prob have about 30k on them and i could prob squeeze another 15k or so so there a good tire in terms of longevity and price but personally i think thats about it...lol

+1...My 96 Legacy (201k) has the same thing going on now...around 55-60....vibration in the steering wheel and such...shook down the front end the other day and turns out Ive got a bad D/S inner tie rod...Nipper is always on the ball...

All I can say about this tire question is...If your looking for good wet/snowy weather traction DONT BUY KUMHOS..I have them on my Legacy and even in like a couple inches of snow I still slip all over the place....I will however recommend some bridgestone blizzaks for decent snowy weather traction...

You should prob be ok using some T adapters however the one huge air line for the IAC I would prob. route straight to the intake tube...

Even if there are/where (Ive never seen any aftermarket) Personally I would go to the Dealer for the transfer clutches/solenoid...

prob good it got passed up....once a car gets nailed it sometimes never runs the same way again...even with professional work....Ive seen it dozens of times....

Dear lord..I will say thats pretty cool...Im into the low life myself...lol

I have seen a couple...I have actually had customer complaints about a shimmy more than a noise....and It turned out they needed a wheel bearing...sometimes withe the car in the air even when you dont hear anything...grab the tire at 12 and 6 and than again at 9 and 3...if you notice excessive play in both directions chances are the wheel bearings gave out....you could also tighten the axle nut....if the play dissapears chances are youve got a bad wheel bearing... my 96 Legacy had this problem...I didnt hear anything and was just prodding around one day and I had what I described...excessive play and no noise...Its obviously more common though to hear them going bad..

repair monkey...I take pride in my job thank you...lol.. The dealership where i work makes alot of there money from selling factory options such as satelite radio, ipod interfaces, spoilers etc etc....

I have done about 5 installs of the i pod interface...a couple in the 09 imprezas and couple in the foresters...when you buy the kit it should come with instructions...installation time is about 1 hour even by a novice....If youd like I can walk you through it....

The water pump is damaged? On the new engine? As dave mentioned personally I would buy an entire engine gasket set from Subaru and reseal the entire engine and replace the t-belt and componants while its out of the car...

could be another heat shield...with age/mileage those things tend to loosen up...quick fix if you dont want to remove them is get some self tapping screws and screw them into the loose heat shield at random points just about 3 or 4 turnsafter the screw makes contact with the exhaust pipe=tension...should keep it from rattling... If this noise sounds the same as the other heat shield did and it went away after removal of the heat shield than 9/10 its another heat shield...

Wow...this is news to me...every single tech (including our senior master tech) where I work puts the conventional white bottle of ATF in every 4EAT we do flushes on (thousands of them) and have NEVER had a problem...Quite Obviously you can put the ATF HP in the 4EAT's however I dont see a problem using the the reg. ATF plus its much cheaper...I know they changed the coolant to the super blue long life coolant in the 08 STI and all 09 models...

Personally I wouldnt pay $1400-1500 for that...Keep searching around...the old Legacy 2.2's are good engines and will last you a lifetime with proper maintaince...Ive seen some decent mileage (150k-160k) 95/96 Legacies going for about that price...If I were you I would keep searching around...

I have never heard of Subaru changing there ATF for the 4EAT's...I know all the 5EAT's take the special juice in the grey bottle....

come on man...02-03 WRX had the EJ20's Turboed of course...

glad it was something easy....believe me as a Subaru Tech I see this problem about once a week....

has anyone replaced the air filter or had the air box off recently?...We have these complaints every week or so...people dont install the air box lid properly so it never latches down...and on acceleration you get like a deep growling noise...I would make sure that your airbox is tight first....before we go digging...lol

Its pretty common for these systems to leak a little around the line fittings where the o-rings are...sometimes you can take some soapy water and spray a little there and you will get a little bit of bubbling...Personally Im not one for the little can with the low psi. side gauge....How do you monitor the high side when using one of these?...you cant...unless or course you have a set of manifold AC gauges...

Personally...I wouldnt run the risk of that thing breaking....or causing leaks because you will be right back there fixing it...I would buy a new one or a good used one....Fix It Right The First Time....

check out http://www.cars101.com that might be of some assistance in helping you make an educated decision on which subaru to buy..I will give you my opinion...Personally I like the Phase 1 EJ22 (most people do)...with the exception they are a little underpowered they are a phenominal engine in terms of life and condition not to mention very few problems when compared to the slew of different EJ25's over the years...I have over 200,000 on mine and it still runs like a top....If I were you I would find something with a Phase 1 EJ22...good engine and old enough car to be a decent price...
