  1. Not totally true. My Passat Syncro has a Viscous centre, and it makes launching nice. The fronts start to spin a little, preventing the car from bogging down of the line. This makes for a really nice launch, especially on slightly wet pavement. Bring revs up -> drop clutch while adding more gas -> front wheels spin a little (traction control helps them both spin at the same speed) -> we're moving out good as the rear locks in and really helps launch it.
  2. Yes, you can use either one. The XT6 step hight is slightly different, but your Loyale flywheel can be ground to match, or just used as is. (helpful thread with previous discussion) You will probably not want to use a lighter flywheel for any kind of crawling.
  3. Not sure, Jim, but as far as I know Allied Armament is still planning on trying to import a bunch from Australia.
  4. Ummm, yeah. Fairly simple procedure. Welding is welding, material is thick enough that they would probably not have to worry about a jig to prevent warping. Drilling the pattern is easy enough for someone who has and knows how to use a rotary table and mill. I'd say 2-4 hours for an experienced machinist. Correct me if I'm wrong, everyone.
  5. Dogs are Loyal. Subarus are Loyale. But yes, it can be done. Lots of info in this forum. Search for EA to EJ swap or just EJ swap.
  6. Grrr! I wish I'd seen those at Jim's before you got to them! But then again, I think they'll look better on a vintage Brat than a Loyale!!
  7. Well, there's lots of them up here, but they still command a good price. Try http://www.fastforward.ca/ for some serious drool factor.
  8. Ummm. sweet http://www.parksoffroad.com/alloldtrips/hollister92901.htm
  9. Actually, they did. I've got two of them. It may have been only a Canadian thing (required by law here since '89 or so), in which case his car might also be from Canada, or parts of it.
  10. These guys. I'm trying to get set up as a dealer right now.
  11. That sounds great to me! As soon as I find a donor, I may be in touch with you. (might do it myself, time willing)
  12. Add to my list: Zefy Subaru Jim Maple Ridge Jim's got a nice spot with a LOT of Subaru's. Great guy, he did me a real solid on a deal!! Zefy's Brat is really sweet. My wife loves it.
  13. Was anyone here at the Thunderbird TSD Rally in BC? I went through Princeton yesterday, and there were several cars at the Chevron station, including an EA-82 wagon.
  14. Almost a month:-\. No idea, really. The lift was opened (nothing appears to be missing). All wheel boxes have been sealed on arrival.
  15. OK, wheel #4 actually showed up today. Talked to Joe and told him to hold on shipping replacement for #5 until I see if it shows up in the next couple days. I'll leave it up to you to address the issue in my first post in this thread.
  16. I'm close to the Canadian Okanagan. Closer to Spokane, though.
  17. Clutch disk is interchangable, pressure plate is not.
  18. Not sure if there will be any electronics issues with the ECVT, but it will likely blow pretty quick with the extra hp/tq of the turbo. Look forward to seeing it done, though!
