  1. i've actually been running it like that for a long time... i've had no problems with elbows... i was kinda worried about that myself... but there is NO room... i looked into getting a grill...i have the seats the whole way back...(or really darn close...) i'm 5'11" and its confortable for me to drive... lol... to celebrate its completion me and my buddy went joyriding with "a night at the roxbury" tunes cranked... lol... its so hard to keep a straight face while stuff like thats playing...
  2. ya i finally carpeted it today... its not nice... but its not bad either... tell me what you think... its a 12" sub... (sorry if it turns out to big...) what you all think? UDATED PART!!! for christmas i got some alpine 6x9 speakers... really fills out the sound!!!(along with the space behind my seats:-p ) although the carpet for the boxes don't match, they were on sale... so i couldn't pass them up.... really tight fit... so i think i've managed to get the most audio equipment into a gen 1 brat then anybody i've seen...:-p what do you guys got in your brats??? (no wagons or the like! its to easy:-p )
  3. to keep it as stock size as possible i do believe you have to run something like 195/50... its off by i think .1 inches or something... pretty darn close! those are thin tires though... it'll look neat!
  4. wow i've met so many people... and its fun to see my name on some of those lists! unfortunatly my memory for names is absolutely HORRIBLE... so my list is extremely short... sorry anybody i missed... qman dr.rx mcbrat one eye mudrat79 bluesoob oddcomp snowman garner zap RenessainceMan ugh my list IS short! sorry everybody! shook to many hands, met to many people at wcss's to remember them all...
  5. i dunno if this matters or not... but all the new gen cars have (at least) driver side electric seats... so i dunno how hard it would be to wire it up and have it funtion properly... (i'm assuming they have power seats... 01 leg has them... 04's gotta...)
  6. car is gone... its been taken off the listing... sorry dude...
  7. if jim can't figure it out, i'll do it... gimmy a shout if you need me too... i'm pretty good at these gadgets...:-p
  8. i kinda wanna know how your going about getting 4 inches of suspension lift... other then that.. if your going that high... you might wanna think about adding a t-case... good luck!
  9. those are some tall orders... first off... i've never heard of somebody using a jeep trans or anything... best bet would be to use the stock stuff... and if you really want to, add a nissan transfer case... as for power... 150hp is a tall order for a carbed ea82... a lot of the guys running MPFI and turbo getting those kinda #'s... with still more mods... so besides completely build up the engine and stuff... your gonna have to settle for less... i know its not exactly what your looking for... but its a start... Good luck!
  10. for anybody living in the Vancouver area, go to polar battery... very good people... i got one of there own batteries for 60 bucks... rated at i believe 900CCA... bargan eh? these aren't cheapy batteries either... high quality 2 year warrenty(if i remember correctly...) unfortunatly! my dad took it! he told me, "oh we don't want that new battery dying on you while your car sits... how bout if i put it in the truck over here..." and its been in there ever since...:-p when he gets rid of the truck or does whatever with it i'm gettin' my battery back!(walmart batteries aren't my style... )
  11. i'm jealous... very nice... hope they look good on the car! (and if not... well i have a car that'd look good with em...:-p )
  12. looks good! hey what wheels are those? they look cool!
  13. i've seen an aussie brat on here with dual carbs... i know they exist... how easy they are to get though...:-\
  14. i've been thinking about this myself... how nuts can you get with one of these engines i wonder...? well here is a thought... this would take lots of time and some good fab work... make a new intake outa stainless or something... re-route the coolant to cycle without going through the intake... that takes oodles of power outa these engines...(or so i've been told) make your dual weber set-up... and heck... if you make your own intake, you could plain the heads to your hearts content! raise that compression throught the roof... ahhhh... so many ideas, so lazy...:-p (not to meantion complete lack of $)
  15. you can probably get a nice aftermarket key that should be pretty sweet... you might be able to find the factory key... just do a search for subaru keys or something on ebay... i saw some nice ones on there... good luck!
  16. ya i don't want to replace it with stock exhaust anyway... i doubt that i could find a whole system too... plus i want to add a cat... to increase aircare chances... BUMP!
  17. my 79 brat is in need of new exhaust... i'm still not sure if i'm going to be doing project brat RX... its still in the thinking stage... but, i obviously don't want to have my stock exhaust remade(i'm going for new i think...) and then have to replace it when i throw in the rx stuff... so i was thinking... something along the lines of 2" to 2.5" pipe (thinking more towards 2") attached to some nice muffle... i don't want to kill my ears... so no glasspacks or anything like that...(i have a soundsystem for that!) but make it in 2 sections... so later on i can just change the header so the ej22 bolts up to exhaust... (most likely the ej22 header will have to be custom) my car won't pass aircare (smog, emissions, ect.) with my exhaust leaking like it is... vacuum tests suck! so what you guys think of my idea? how much might a system like this cost? i'm gonna probably want a cat in there somewhere... (raises my chances of passing...) and last... i know i can't get this sound from my ea71... but if the 2.2 goes in i want to have the crazy meaty chunky awesome sound all the imprezas got... what kinda mufflers do they have to get that? (kinda curious to see what a 1600 sounds like with that muffler too...:-p )
  18. my 79 brat is in need of new exhaust...(i know wrong forum... i'm posting it in both...) i'm still not sure if i'm going to be doing project brat RX... its still in the thinking stage... but, i obviously don't want to have my stock exhaust remade(i'm going for new i think...) and then have to replace it when i throw in the rx stuff... so i was thinking... something along the lines of 2" to 2.5" pipe (thinking more towards 2") attached to some nice muffle... i don't want to kill my ears... so no glasspacks or anything like that...(i have a soundsystem for that!) but make it in 2 sections... so later on i can just change the header so the ej22 bolts up to exhaust... 19. i dunno how the new gen belts work... but the ones on my 79 don't retract to well either... there is a coiled up spring in the belt that gives it the ol' retracting ability... i tried this on one of my belts... i took off the cover and what not, then wound up that coil a few more times, then locked it back in place... it retracts now, although its kinda stiff... you might want to try doing that...?
  20. sweet! that's even close to me!!! thanks for the info... although i am now very tempted to give em a call... in a bit... when i have money... thanks again!
  21. my dad's 01 legacy outback is leaking anti-freeze from somewhere... i took a quick look under the hood... checked (very quickly) the radiator, hoses, and heater hoses... i couldn't see any dripping or steaming...(this was right after driving it...) but the thing has got quite the stink to it... you can smell the sweet nastyness of anti-freeze everytime you stop or just let it sit while running... he is taking it into the shop tomorrow... but i kinda wanna know what this might be... it smells bad (like bad bad) in the passenger compartment... and outside... so i'm thinking the heater core... just because the smell gets in there so fast... but could it be HG? that'd suck... my dad is quickly loosing faith in subaru... it being his first one, (he bought it new) and it has had a bunch of other problems...
  22. ya i was kinda thinking the same thing as scrap... having 2 sets of hubs, one set with the 6 bolt and another with the 4... i'm just thinking because pugs are near impossible to find where i am... but its not like i need rims anytime soon... because i don't have a lifted rig... or getting one in the near future... so ya... hey hodaka, you know a pug guy in bc? hmmmm... i've been looking for some alloys for a while... but no money right now! so don't tempt me!
  23. i don't think the 79's have cats... at least they don't call it that... they call it a pre-muffler or something... but i don't think its a cat... anyway, this might be a fun opertunity to squeeze a few hp outa your brat... maybe a 2" stainless exhaust? and depending on where its leaking from, you might be able to fix your radiator... any good with a soldering torch? sorry but i don't have either... good luck though!
  24. You don't need to weld a the center diff in your 4sp trans because it doesn't have one... (its a solid drive 50/50 front and back... same as welded...) Do not weld the front diff... you won't be able to drive... the ea81T will not bolt up to your 4sp... for one big reason... your trans if you have a look has a top mounted starter... the ea81T has a side mounted one... i've heard of people switching over bellhouses and what not... but i've never seen any proof of it being done, or if it is do-able... if you want to use the ea81T then get a ea81 trans... i think they have the same spline count... they don't have a center diff either so you don't need to weld anything there...
