Wow, duct tape will really do anything! That's okay, I've used super glue to stop bleeding. What's the general consensus on a soob come along rating? I've seen some that are rated, but don't say whether that's lift or pull. I'm looking at a 2-ton brand made by masdaam.

Thanks, twitch...I forgot about the wood. Want some plywood for jacking in mud, too. My cell phone may not get reception, but the CB has pretty good range with the antenna mounted like it is. Nipper...got the flashlight. My Christmas present was a Maglite 2-cell, 3w LED. That thing rocks! Nearly as bright as the krypton, but much better battery life. I got a nylon tow strap already, but how 'bout a recovery strap?

All good stuff to have, thanks. Won't be wheeling alone...don't see the fun in that. I know that I'll need a 36mm, breaker bar, pin punch and sledge for the axle change. What size punch is needed? I'm also including a tarp, basic tools, come along, flashlight...anything else I'm missing? I hope some more of the off road guys find this new area.

So what tools and gear are you guys carrying, specifically for off road use? I'm piecing together my own, but don't want to carry 100lbs worth of tools around. For example: full sized shovel, or folding one? I also intend to carry a spare axle, so tools needed for that, too. Pics would be great!

I had to check out the bighorns too. They offer that one 14, but no narrow 15's. I chose to go the 15" route for better selection, but in 215's or less, it's almost as bad as 14's.

Wouldn't dream of off-roading some of those now!

What's the backspace on them wheels? I've considered using homemade spacers, if necessary, on my nissan's.

That's way cool that you saved that soob, Jeff. Being twisted and all, it would never drive good on the road again. At least it's not being parted out, and knowing you...no mere tree is going to kill it!!!

Okay, I'm getting some real progress done now. I decided to go with a SJR 4" lift and got the easy half installed the other day with Scott's help. Just didn't have the time to do it all at once, and I thought the muscle car rake would be funny for a short time. Also finally had the cherry bomb welded in, but Midas decided to put it in diagonally for some reason!?! I know there was enough clearance, but maybe they were concerned with bumpage or heat. Oh well, it's still better ground clearance than a stocker...just could have been even better. I've also been working on the nissan wheels, but no pics 'till they're all painted. If you haven't already, you might want to upgrade your alternator. Search for GM 100, or Maxima 90 amp. I'm thinking you'll need the 100+!!!

That might be a pretty good deal, considering how rare soobs are in TX. Both have your basic requirements, too. One running car, and lots of parts.

Any idea if the leggy's would fit a GL? I know they're both frameless, but could be different shape/profile? It's a little wet here, so I need some...even if custom!

Don't know about Restore, but I used Seafoam in all 3 ways on my car, and the tick's all but gone. It has no funny additives, that I know of.

Like I said in your other thread, nice rig! Is that the stock tranny? If not, a d/r would rock offroad.
