Timeing Belt
You must have been tired when you thought of this on at 2 in the morning. You would have lube issues and the chain would break in a "flying plastic bits fit of glory".

Looks like Subaru's evil overlord isnt so evil
From the March 2009 Motortrend page 12-13 under title "It's not just Detroit, If Toyota's losing money, what about Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, and Suzuki?" ............. "Subaru having lost its connection with GM, is also "dicey," a source says. The Toyota connection will help keep it viable, which means, potentially, future Subie models powered with something OTHER THAN horizonally opposed engines. The proposed joint venture sport coupe (with Toyota) is on hold however."............... There would be alot of Subie faithfully that would be very P'ed off if they started putting I 4 engines instead of the flat 4.:-\

crash321 replied to DeSubiefan's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI would use that as a bargaining chip. How expensive is it to have that work done?

1996 sbaru outback
crash321 replied to daniw1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThat sealing stuff sounds like snakeoil. It will probably cause more problems than it is worth, possibly plugging your radiator or heater core. Yes they are know to fail quickly if they are not subaru gaskets and if the torque sequence is not followed precisely. 2.5 motors are just very hard to seal if the proper parts and procedures are not followed. But if everything is done with care (correct subaru parts and procedures) this car will last a very long time:)

95 Legacy intermittently runs rough
crash321 replied to reeze's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAlso, no one has mentions the possiblity of a fuel pressure regulator that may be going bad which could be causing these issues, too much fuel can foul an EGR, cause the O2 sensor to fail creating the cat code and cause a misfire on a weak cylinder. Does your exhuast smell rich? Don't just throw parts at it.:-\

So, I think I need 2 new temp sensors + speed sensors.
crash321 replied to kirbykirb's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX+1 gloyale , I just spent 2 large on mine, yea its an older car but I would rather put a gajilian miles on something that is worth 3500 than on one that costs 25,000. Car now runs great again........(damn underhood mice)

Low Fuel light - false positives
crash321 replied to Steves72's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI agree with previous posts, sulpher is probably the culprit, use a good quaity cleaner to see if the contacts clean up.

4EAT lock-up system
crash321 replied to rverdoold's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXTry changing the fluid and see what comes out, cant hurt anything at all. Maybe you will find death metal on the drain plug, and I don't mean the terrible music kind:)

4EAT lock-up system
crash321 replied to rverdoold's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXKind of like the old GM rear wheel drive transmissions, unplug the lockup torque converter plug when they fail. People would unplug them and keep driving the car with no lockup and a few mpg's less.

4EAT lock-up system
crash321 replied to rverdoold's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXsounds like lockup to me, maybe do a drain and fill again and see what happens. This would ,make more sense if you were coming down from speed though.

glass
Although I am not a glass guy, you should be able to drive it home after it set up for about half an hour. Glass guys generally tell you to not shut the door with the window closed for the 1st 24 hours as to not chance a leak. I have had my glass replaced in my cars and have not had any problems.

My turn to pick an H6 exhaust (2003)
crash321 replied to CNY_Dave's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI guess it would be. I didn't know they had bypasses in them. If it is bad, maybe you could locate a muffler in a wrecking yard somewhere. Wrecking yard probaly would let it go cheap, because who honestly buys a muffler from a wrecking yard, not many I would guess. Good luck:)
