  1. nice score, i got my 85 brat for $350 needing a lot of rust repair. hopefully i will be able to get it to start tonight. you said that you are in western north carolina, where abouts are you? i have family all over the place in the southern va, western nc area.
  2. not too far from where i work, i heard that someone jacked an entire spool of heavy gauge copper wire from a verizon supply yard. they must have had a tractor to do it, those arent at all light, lol. ballsy move though
  3. if you go to the mt airy location, let me know, ill meet up with you and show you where it is since it has an interesting driveway. lol last time i was there, they had a few ea82 cars with 4wd and manual trans, but i was looking for other parts at the time.
  4. welcome to the club. where in maryland are you? i am in frederick.
  5. OMFG, You are still alive!!! man, i love that wagon, every time i see it, it makes me happy. i can only hope that my brat comes out that nice.
  6. dude, sucks. hopefully the drunk will get whats coming. but like has been said before, dont mourn his loss but celibrate his life.
  7. it will be something, lol, just not sure what yet.
  8. ok, that makes sense. my only other real question is whether or not the gauges from the rx will work in the brat. or if the signals coming from the rx parts will work with the brat dash. im not sure how i am going to go with the gauges on the brat. i might just keep it stock if it will all work together. honestly, i cant wait to get this project going ahead. the brat will be fun when done and the rx coupe me friend has is going to be interesting when done. i wonder if anyone else has used an ea82 chassised car as a paintball tank/apc?
  9. i am getting ready to get into the process of wiring my brat for a turbo swap. what i need to know is, how much of the ea82t harness will i need and will i have any issues with connecting the engine harness to the body and dash harnesses? when i am done, i plan on swapping the ea81 and trans into the car that is donating the ea82t. basically, it will be made into a paintball tank:grin:... i willbe swapping over the engine and trans in both cars. sofar, the wiring is, as far as i can tell, going to be confusing. thanks tc
  10. i dontthink that hatches were mandated by any governing body, it was a technical call. the winners lately have all had hatches. i think its just the current fad. subaru would have been boned with the new rules anyways, the french have finally got their way. they complained that the rules werent fare since they kept loosing for a few years. wrc has certainly gone to rubbish.
  11. i think i might cry over that one, with out the wrc, whats the point? with no major motorsports, what motivation will they have to improve their line up and make new technical innovations? grrr, this sucks.
  12. looks like a rather fun setup there. and dont worry about the long posts, i have a tendancy to go off on rants here and there, and before i realize whats going on, i have a small novel. but i cant rant right now, i am missing Top Gear:grin:
  13. do you have an pics of the brackets you had to make for that?
  14. i, for one, will be wearing camo bdu's, granted, its going to be urban camo. but it matches my mask (black and grey) and ill have a black combat helmet. ill have that special forces operator look about me. my friend, who will be one of the generals for the veitmanese team, will be wearing woodland digi camo bdu's with a green tactical helmet. i still wear paintball specific gear in addition to the bdu's. i wear empire knee pads and padded jersey(only because i have a huge scar on my chest) and for the arms, i have fox racing downhill elbowgaurds and i wear franklin batting gloves. i know woodsballers that play in full army dress and i know other woodsballers that play in full on pb tourney gear. it all really depends on the weather and what the player is the most comfortable in. before i got the bdu's, i played in cargo shorts, a t-shirt under my padded jersey, the arm and knee pads, and knee high hot topic combat boots. it worked all summer, so i see no reason that i wont go back to that in the spring. the only complaint i had was that the boots were crap for running. to me, it doesnt matter what the player is wearing, as long as they play well and clean. ill play with anyone, no matter how they are dressed, as long as they dont cheat or treat others poorly. then again, i am type of player that will call myself out even if no one ese knows i got hit. i also am the first to volunteer to help first timers.
  15. wtf? 150fps? the balls might make it 15-20 feet and you would be lucky if they broke on contact. thats insane. but on better news, my local field is having a scenaro game on sunday. the last one was fun, this one should be fun as well. http://www.paintballwholesalers.com/index.cfm?method=news.news&newsID=175&supressLayout=1 www.paintballwholesalers.com check it out.
  16. what engine/drive train are you running in that thing?
  17. i think there were headlights, other than that, idk.
  18. well, i guess ill be finding out in the next few weeks. i need to get seats that actually stay upright into the brat. the tenzoR seats i have in it have broken recline levers, you have to forcable push the levers back down to lock the seats, but the first time you push the seats forward, even slightly, they unlock and spring forward. i think i might start with the seats next weekend, maybe sooner, gotta love having turkeyday off. i also have to get into it and figure out the wiring for swapping in an ea82t since my friend should be bringing me the engine and drivetrain from my rx. it will be nice to have a 5speed trans and turbo again:grin:
  19. i am trying to get a set of impreza seats into my brat, do the sliders come off of the imprez seats at all? i havent really been able to get into and kind of detailed investigation with the seats i have, but i couldnt find anyway of removing the brackets and sliders form em. on top of that, i would still need to modify the brackets to fit into the brat and i might have to relocate one of the driver side mounts since i think the captive nut that you thread the bolt into has broken loose from when i put in the last set of seats. any tips or tricks to getting impreza seats to fit into a brat?
  20. trust me when i say that it would not at all be fun to get hit by a marker firing that fast. 300fps is the fastest you want to let it get. any faster and you run the risk of injury. i run my markers around 275-285. to dent a car door or break glass, you would have to be firing very "hot". like 350fpr-400fps+. at those velocites, you would also most likely crack lenses on paintball masks and break the skin on who ever you hit. paintball isnt about trying to hurt anyone, its a generally fun game of tag, if you want to think of it like that. i have been hit by markers firing hot, it hurts a lot, even with padding. hell, my gf got hit in the head by someone firing hot. that pissed me off since i had to calm her down aftewards. it was even worse when i told her that it was bleeding, she wanted to kill the guy that hit her. then again, dude also "bonus balled" her, in other words, he shot her after she was out and trying to leave the field. to people that play seriously, its kinda of a mission to try to get paintball in a better view to those who dont play it. as much fun as it would be to shoot signs and cars with paintball guns, it does nothing to improve the game's image, in fact, it really hurts it. if you are lookig to get started into paintball, go to www.pbnation.com and read up on what ever you might need to know, and remember, the search button is your friend. and as for freezing the paint, it causes them to shrink and dimple. most paint currently available doesnt freeze anymore. old paint might freeze. if you ever get caught with frozen paint in the hopper or marker, you can be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon as well.
  21. i play every weekend if i can. i actually just started playing pump a few weeks ago. but i love my autocockers. i play woodsball and scenario games. would you happen to be looking to part with those markers? i love the old school stuffs.
  22. dont go connie. you just need to take a short break from the car. dont give up on it. i know if you give up, you will regret it, maybe not right away, but before too long, it will catch up with you. if you were closer, i would be happy to help you out. if it comes down to it, i might end up with a spare ea81 when i swap my brat. i am pretty sure the engine itself is in good shape, but the carb needs attention. but yeah, once i get the brat swapped to the ea82t, ill be happy to bring you the ea81 i have from it. and you know that you have more friends here that would hate to see you go. i for one feel that the community would be much less fun without you. if there is anything that i can do, let me know. just dont give up
