1984 subaru brat, is this a good deal?
wd-40 is crap unless you are trying to dry stuff. use PB Blaster or seafoam deep creek. both are great for what you will be needing. they can be found at just abou8t any auto parts store.

1984 subaru brat, is this a good deal?
i had to do a lot of rust repair when i got my brat. i replaced most of the floor in it, now i just need to get it running. ive owbned it since 2007 and have yet to avtually drive it then again, i dont know carbs for squat. i am still planning on swapping in a 5spd full time 4wd and turbo engine from an rx. i already have everything i need in my possesion, just need to find a way to get everything to a shop and then find the time to actually do the swap. i might have to pass on paintball for a few weeks to get this done, hmm., eh, either way, it will be nice when done. make sure that you head that rust off before it gets worse on your brat, and take lots of pics for us!! peace tim

throdle is sticking
wd-40 is crap untless you are trying to prevent water from collecting. i had that problem with my rx last week, just sprayed the throttle spring, cable and the pedal hinge and spring with sea foam deep creek spray. havent had an issue since.

Top mount pics. 89 RX
very nice. i personally would like to see more about the megasquirt set up on there. i am still looking to possibly go with that in my brat when i get it done.

Help with Subaru RX
look up iag performance and andrewtech. both are within about an hour or so of baltimore. andrewtech is in gaithersburg and iag is in west minster. boith shops do outstanding work. also, if you are getting a full swap, the guys at andrewtech were saying that they wanted to get ahold of a full time dual range 4wd trans for something they were working on. http://www.andrewtechautomotive.com/ http://www.iagperformance.com/ both shops are awsome. they are great people too. i am in frederick, about 50 miles west of baltimore on I70. let me know when you get out to maryland, id be happy to meet up and show you the shops. peace tim

Fitting 15" Pug alloys to RX L Series - issues ?
on my rx, i had 205/50-15 tires on the pug rims i got from a 505. the rear lined up with the ear fender, the front stuck out about an inch on either side. with narrower tires, it should less noticable.

ea82 advice needed
i know its annoying, but if i remember correctly, that is about the most damage that the lifter tick will cause, your sanity. i had lifter tick for about three months straight in my rx with one of the engines i had in it. then one day, it just went away. it still ticks sometimes when its cold, but hasnt been as bad as it was. i think its just one of the par for the course things.

just curious ea82t swap
the ea82t is a fun engine when you get it running rght. my rx is nuts, what can i say. but yeah, if youcan get the whole car, then you will have everything you need. the hardest part will be the wiring, just plan on spending a fair amount of time in the harness. like was said before, you will need the turbo engine cross memeber, the ecu, the wiring harness, and all the accesories and sensors for the turbo set up. btw, i am doing this swap into my brat.

Battery Relocation :)
you know, common sence would dictate that one would turn it off, but i tend to lack common sence and i cant remember how to turn the sterio off, lol.

Battery Relocation :)
well, after tonight, i can definatly say that you wont regret the optima. i have muy battery in the trunk of my rx, using a plastic battery box sitting in one of the cargo compartments. i still need to acutally secure the box, but for now, the elastic and 2x4 are working rather well. as for the optima, i spun the crank pulley bolt out on my way home from work tonight (didnt come all the way out) and when i got it back in, i noticed that the alternator belt was a bit loose due to the alternator moving a bit when the pulley fell down. i tried to tighten everything up, but the bolt that holds the alternator in place stripped out and wouldnt hold tension on the belt. so yeah, i basically drove 25-30 miles on minimal charging and the battery. every time i would turn the wheel, the charge light would come on and when i used turn signals, the radio would turn off, lol. but thanks to that battery and i am thinking the rx's desire to live to irritate me another day, i made it home safely. sorry for the novel, lol.

What is on top of the thermostat housing?
if it is what i am thinking about, its the aux. air valve. i think it gives you the high idle untill the engine gets to temp, then it closes, or something like that.

Strut tower Reinforcement?
there was someone a while back that was advertizing a plate that goes on top of the strut tower and acts to stiffen and reinforce the area. i think it had holes big enough that te nuts would still hold down the struts, but it was welded on to the tower all the way around, or something like that. if i can find it, ill post more accurate info. i think it was marketed toward rally car preperation

newbie from scotland uk
i am looking at 05+ legacy turbo suspension to swap into my brat once i do the 5 lug swap. its going to take a little while though, i have to save tome money first and also get the brat on the road. but for the rear suspension bits, i am looking at fabricating a new rear shock tower and wheel well.
