i am looking at doing the same thing in my brat when i get to building it. i would love to see pics when you get them posted. I just noticed that you are in Galax, i have family all over that area, Galax, Hillsville, Fancy Gap, etc... we will have to meet up next time i am down that way, id love to see your brat.

nice work on the alternator. cant say the bumper is my style (i dont like chrome) , but i always appreciate good custom work.

my friends and i used to run cb radios before smart phones were common. it was far easier to set a channel on the cb and push a single buttong to talk than it was to try to make a call on an old school flip phone. also made it easier to communicate when there were 4+ cars in the group. i plan on setting up some kind of short range communications when i build my brat. now if i can just convince my friends to get new radios, lol.

beautiful brat!

nice score. i love my mom's forester xt,

wow, just wow. i just read your build today. you have built one of the most beautiful sedans i have ever seen. next time you come down to the DC area, you gotta hit me up, i am in maryland, about 50 miles from DC. i would love to see this car in person. if i ever get my house finished, id love to have you come out and hang out if you have time. i am doing a wrx conversion on my brat. 02 wrx engine and drive with various years of suspension, 2002-2012 or so. i would love to be able to compair notes, so to speak. keep up the awesome work, i cant wait to see the progress you make when it warms up again.

hell, my 09 wrx already has rust, granted, one spot is on the roof and the other is above the trunk under the hatch....
-
no doubt, they use too much salt on the roads on the east coast, lol. i am in maryland and they are talking about running out of salt already. scares me, honestly. will be even scarrier when i get my brat o nthe road, i dont want to see it crumble away to dust because of the road treating....

reading through all of this, i really miss my rx.
-
love your brat, it looks right with the green paint and lowered stance. cant wait to see how it turns out.
-
wow, i hadnt seen this car in a long time. on that note, what happened to WJM??
-
love what you have done to your outback. watching the vid with the headers, man do i miss my old 2.5rs with borla headers..... the sounds brought back so many memories...
-
ive been seeing a lot of people "dipping" their cars with plasti-dip. not bad for a removable color change, lol. Pretty sure you can still get Borla headers for the newer models, i dont think much has changed in the exhaust in the last few years. The headers improve on the exhaust note, give it a more pornounced boxer rumble. combine that with a 2.25" +- cat back exhaust with a good quality performance muffler, it will sound amazing. I havent played too much with the newer Legacies, but there should be a prett decent aftermarket for them, depending on where you want to go with it.

that would be awesome. that or an old hatchback. id like to get one of the subaru diesel swaps to play with, maybe stuff it into a forester or baja, would make for a cool tow car and road trip car. maybe a small lift for snow and light duty off roading. too many ideas, not nearly enough money or time, lol.

i have an 85 brat. going to do a full wrx conversion on it, engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, dash/interior. i got it a few years ago, well, almost 7 years ago now, and did a lot of rust repair. i was planning on getting it running again just to be able to drive it around, but i never could get it to run right. had a massive vac leak that i couldnt find, idled around 2500rpm and stalled when i gave it gas. couldnt get the right rebuild kits for the carb, etc... found a good deal on the engine and drivetrain from a wrecked wrx a couple years back, bought that and started pulling apart the brat while i slowly aquired the rest of the parts i needed. then got a bit sidetracked last year when i bought a house that i found when i was looking for a garage to rent, lol. it turned out to need a lot more work than i thought (seller hid a lot of problems). still a lot of work to do on the house, but i might be able to get the garage cleared out and ready for the brat in the next few weeks, then it begins. the projects never end, there will always be something that needs done...... always
-
good luck! do what you can to save it
-
i think that once i finish my 85 brat wrx conversion, my next project will either be getting a subaru diesel swap into a lifted baja or ferester, or getting a first gen brat and making it into a rat rod/hotrod/cruiser.just need to figure out where to find the funding for my ideas, lol.
-
congrats on the purchase, sucks that it was worse than expected. i think we have all ben there at least once, lol. you should fix up the brat and hot rod it. take the situation you have found and have some fun with it. also, you should defineitely post some pics.
