  1. othere than the fact that your car is backwards, lol, its almost the same set up that ive done with my boost gauge. and after compairing the two pics side by side, our cars are mirriored, i though they used the same gauge cluster and switch layout.
  2. go for the new aem dryflow filter. it uses a microfiber filter element that traps something like 99.4% of that stuffs that you dontwant in your engine. this filter raped k&n in the testing om what ive heard. i have one on my impreza and im about to get one for my rx. cool thing about it is that you dont need to oil it, just clean it out. http://www.aempower.com/press_events_detail.asp?aid=58
  3. umm, wow. how did it get taht far out of round??
  4. i moved may battery to the trunk. i ran a 2 gauge cable from the posi cable under the hood and grounded the black cable to the strut tower. i ran the cable between the fender and strut tower under the hood. if you look, there is a nice litle tunnel next to the strut where i think the hood latch cable runs, i wouldnt know, i dont have a hood release cable. i still need to hide the cable somewhere in the car though, right now the new battery cable is just running down from behind the dash, along the driverside door sills on the floor, and through the back seats to the battery. the battery is in a box in the rear storage thingy at the bottom of the trunk.then from there, i just ran the neg cable to on of the large rear bumper bolts. it works very well.
  5. that dent in the second shot just happns to fit a u.s. men's size 9 converse all star right shoe. i did head gaskets with the engine in the car and got a little irritated when the cam carrier wouldnt got back on right. like ive said before, the intercooler and piping are all in a kit for the '04 wrx. but unlike the wrx, you have to cut holes for this one to work.i had to move the battery to the trunk as the cold side pipe comes through in the center of the battery box. and the hot pipe from the turbo goes through just about where the air box draws air from the fenter, granted mine was cut out for a cold air intake. the trick to making this work is being able to creatively cut out chunks of the car without either ruining the integrity or having a heart attack. the entire center section of my front bumper had to be cut out, the beam went trough the area of space that the intercooler core now inhabits. i then went to the hardware store (or had my friends go for me) and got some 1"x1" angle iron (steel of course), and 2" flat stock, all of which was about three feet long. i have a peice of the flat stock welded flat ontop of the bumper beam and that is where i have the core bolted up. i took two peices of the angle iron and welded them together to make a c channel then boxed it in with the flat stock. o welded the box section at the top front edge for the bumper beam. the actuially made for a very strong bumper. kinda heavy though. i didnt have to change out my radiator, but i did have to take out the little peice of metal thatruns in front of it that supports the hood latch and the little peice of trim over the bumper. i need to get that bit back in there, the hood is a little floppy at speed without it. granted, the four hellas dont help that any. but yeah, all these additions to my car have made a noticeable improvement. it feels as fast if not faster than my impreza rs.
  6. sorry man, i didnt take any shots of the bumper beam. thatsway too much effort to pull the skin just for some pics. ill make sure to get pics when i change the skins though. on a side note, the rx is running great with the msd ignition in it. the engine is nice and smooth now, i like it.
  7. does anyone realize that one of those wheels cost about what out cars are worth?
  8. well, ive figured out the msd box, i think i had the signal wires done up backwards:banghead: it runs!!! it goes like stink.
  9. is that spectre performance intake piping i see? if it is, id highly reccoment getting a rubber or silicone coupling on those tow pipes. ive broken two of the plastic connections. it sucks when that happens, mine stalled out at an intersection to a highway. other than that, it looks good.
  10. jerry hit it on the head with that one. those black cables going up are for the lights. and i have already put the td04 in the car. it is kinda visable in the back there, look for the wastegate and then look for polished aluminum belw it. and yes, i did polish the compressor housing. for right now, i am trying to figure out the msd 6a igniton box i got latnight, i installed it last night and it didnt start yet. so time to go troubleshoot.
  11. i jsut got a msd 6a box and mounted in my rx tonight. always fun in therain, but i was excited. i still need to troubleshoot with it a little bit. but my question is, has anyone installed one of these in an oldschool suby, ea82t in my case. and is there anyting special needed to get it to run properly in the rx?
  12. sweetness man, you gotta get some more pics of yours.
  13. what adaptor, i made my own. grant makes one but its like $50 or something like that. my adaptoir is my stock wheel. i just cut off the base and bolted it up to the wheel hub.
  14. it would be more trouble than its worth. especially concidering that i am getting a wrx down pipe and exhaust, aftermarket bits of course.
  15. i almost forgot the steering wheel. and thanks everyone for the compliments. im going to get some more pics of it today before i go to work.
  16. that was the problem, i couldnt find the plimbing to make the audi corner mounts work. i found the entire kit for an 04 wrx on nasioc. got everything for $400. granted, i did have to trim some of the pipes to make it fit. i also had to cut out the entire center section of the front bumper and build my own bumper beam out of peices of angle iron. when i get the new bumper skin on the car, it should look much better. i still have the tt intercoolers if you want to buy em.
  17. i am planning on trying to get the 97ish impreza l bumper skin mounted onto the car. that will surrund the core and expose the entire thing, at the moment the bumper covers over half of the core. pity i forgot to get pics of the turbo, i have a mildly polished td04 in there, its perty.
  18. well, as the title says, i have a lot of free time. ive been playing around with the rx a lot in the last few months and well, now that i found my camera, i have pics to share. here is the shot from when i first got the car home, before i even registered it. and this is the rx now.... and the engine bay and now the front now aint that pretty:grin:
  19. so wait, im not the only one that works for advance?!? granted, my store is #1 in our division:banana: and since i work there, there is always a subaru fiend on hand to find the right parts the first time. on a bit of an off topic side note, if you look through the advance computers in the part number look up, you can find a full sized refrigerator and washer and dryer.
  20. i was wanting to do this a while back, but i couldnt find a brat in good enough shape to bother with. keep us up to date if you go through with it.
  21. youve got my attention. keep us up to date.
  22. i really want to go again this year, but it looks like i will have to pass on it cause of work
  23. cool deal man, let us know what you find.
  24. definatly let me know how that goes.
