Has anyone made any advancements in their turbo installs?
im running the nissan injectors with the td04 and the car still seems to be running pig rich. not as bad as it did before i ripped off the fuel pump in june, but still, its rich. at least i tihnk so at the moment.

Has anyone made any advancements in their turbo installs?
im getting my clutch kit from brake and clutch of ashville. they are the only people ive found that will make one for the old school subies. and the price is less than what i can get a stock set for. as far as what i am running, i have a stock engine, spyder manifold with the xt6 throttle body, nissan 280zx fuel injectors, td04 turbo, 4" bellmouth into a full 3" turbo back exhaust, front mount intercooler for an 04 wrx. soon ill be rebuilding my headers and hopefully ill be able to start to get the parts to build my new engine, im looking at forged pistons, over sized vavles, delta cams, and a mild port and polish. there will be a few other tweeks here and there as well

Has anyone made any advancements in their turbo installs?
mine has been running rather srong lately, the onlyissue im having at the moment is the clutch. which will be swapped for a stage two setup soon, hopefully this week. only other issue ive had has nothing to do the turbo upgrade, i need to reseal the oil pump and the oil pan, again.

xt manifold on my rx
well, i finally got around to taking pics of the spyder in my car. there are still a few bugs in the system, but im sure i can fix em, i just need the time to get things figured out. the hardest part to figure out will be getting the fdic (?) back in the system. the xt6 throttle body doesnt have the mounting place for it. i think that i can figure it out though. the only other problem im having right now is the clutch. its starting to slip when i put my foot into it. and now for what we have been waiting for. thats all i got for now, my batteries died and it was rather dark out. possibly more to come.

Custom Fenders for a Brat
any loyale or 85+ gl/dl/ect fenders will work for the rx, they are the same body. as far as the wheel arch, i think that you should leave the diameter the same but push it out a few inches, enough to cover the tires on a set of pugs, basically, i am running a set of 15" pugs with 205/50/15 tires. the stock fenders are about 1.5" too narrow. you should make the fenders about 2" wider than the stock set. if you could make em to look simular to the sti 22b or the gc8 style rally car, that would be sweet. as far as the rear, it might be a bit hard to get an actual flare in the fender, you would have to do som cutting of the fender and then make it a two peice set so that the rear doors on the sedans could open.

Custom Fenders for a Brat
you really need to do that for the ea82's i really need a set for my 86 rx.

xt manifold on my rx
well, i got the manifold on the car,it runs and is a lot smoother running on the highway. i think the lack of the fdic? is causing the ecu to get a bit confised. that and the intake pipe after the intercooler keeps popping off under load. i just need to get a longer peice of silicone hosing stuff. right now itjust hasa standard turbonetics pipe coupler that is about two inches shorter than what i need. the only other mechanical issue i have is that the throttle cable is mounted too low on the engine and hits the little bar on the throttle linkage, thus keeping the idle at about 2000 rpm. i just need to finish making a bracket for that, i should be able to fix that today when i get home from the beach. ill post pics once i finally get home and if i can get the pics ontothe laptop,my pc died

Tein Flex for RX

so, what aplication are the shocks for?

xt manifold on my rx
from what ive gathered, the solinoid thingy is used when there is an extra load on the engine at idle, like say if i had a/c or if i turn the wheels while off the throttle/ or something like that. it looks like i might be able to run without that chunk. im thinking about trying to get it on tomarrow morning before work, if i am functional when i get up/.

xt manifold on my rx
well, i lucked out in the fact that the xt turbo harness matches with my rx harness. i figured out what the part isthat ill be doing without. i think its called a fidc solinoid. or something like that. either way, its not on the larger throttle body at all. but sofar, everything is bolting up and happy, but i still need to figure out a few of the vaccuum routings on the manifold. there are a few lines that are no longer needed but then there are some that im missing, so its going to be a challenge to get it all running right. but i think i can get it going, it shouldnt be too hard.

xt manifold on my rx
alrighty, i got the wiring harness from the xt turbo at the junk yard, its a direct match for what i have, even the pin outs are identical. now i just needs to figureout the idle air control valve issue. like the fact that my throttle body doesnt have a place for one

xt manifold on my rx
what be that throttle switch in the mpfi diagram? my manifold doesnt have the egr vavle on it but i think that the xt im getting parts off of does, basically its a complete xt turbo. i just gotta figure out the tps wiring and the idle air control, the aav is there and i just need to get the right plug connector for it. im wondering if the aav can act as the idle air control valve on my set up. hmmm. now i just need to figure out the vaccuum routing and such. eh im sure ill come up with something.

xt manifold on my rx
ok, most issues solved and pics in the last post. ok, so i searched till i couldnt search anymore and i think i even posted in the retrofitting forum, but so far ive no luck. ive got an 86 rx with wiring from an 87, and i am trying to figure out my way around the wiring of the xt manifold with the xt6 throttle body on it. has anyone actually got the spyder manifold to work in an rx without just swapping in te entire xt engine management? how do you get around the lack of the idle air valve looking thing that the spyder manifold doesnt have? does anyone know what i have to do to get the spyder manifold with the xt6 throttle body to work on my rx? right now, i have a early bare manifold, the only things on it are the fuel rails, auxilery air valve and the coolant temp sensor.. i want to get this thing in my car before october if i can, i might just try to get the xt turbo harness from the junk yard i frequent.

details!! i need details! and new suspension for the rx, bad.

stripped threads in cam towers
john, try a longer bolt first, if that doesnt work, then you might have to drill it out and helicoil it. if you were closer, id help you out with that. i gotta go out and reseal the rx, again.

rx pictures
i actually get cool air right there, at least i should be, there is no fender liner and there is a big hole cut through the fender for the intercooler pipes. im actually making more power right now tha the clutch likes the temps dropped after it stopped raining last night and the car was a beast, then the clutch said no more.

rx pictures
thats a sweet rx man, my friend just got an 87 thats done up nicely, but i still like my 86 rx:grin:

Excessive oil in PCV
sounds a lot like blow by, do a compression test. almost sounds like the rings might be starting to wear out. that sounds like what happened to the first engine i had in my rx, it sat for a long time before i got to drop it into the car, and i thing that the rings had some rust on em. either way, around a 1000 miles after i got the car put together , i started getting a lot of oil in the intake, to the pointthat it stopped the turbo. when i tore down the engine, i found over an inch of a ring missing all together. like i said, get a compression test done to it. best of luck with that.

Easier way to remove EA82T Up Pipe?? **found my boost problem**
that might work. i was thinking that you could use the cat back section of a wrx exhaust until you decide to upgrade th turbo. where will you be living when you come back stateside? make sure to document the construction and results of your headers.

Easier way to remove EA82T Up Pipe?? **found my boost problem**
i tried building my own headers but my welder is trash and the welds cracked. if you are looking for a decent 3" turbo back, look at ebay and find one for a wrx, thats what i got on my rx. youll need to do a little bit to get it fit, but its not that much, i think it just needs another bend and the hangers moved around. as for the headers. if you do it off of the engine, make sure that you take frequent test fits, i made my first set by using a mock up engine that i forgot to bold the oil pump onto, needless to say, i had to take it to an exhaust shop and have em pinch the pipe where the oil pump hangs down.

Easier way to remove EA82T Up Pipe?? **found my boost problem**
you dont have to remover the turbo, but the rear bolt on the inlet flange cant be easily removed without pulling off the down pipe from the turbo. but once you get that done just jack up the passenger side and slide the manifold out.
