  1. my rx is idleing very high latley when i start it up, it used to only got up to 1700 when cold, not it will run at 2500 rpm until it warms up. then it will come down to between 1700 and 2000 rpm. i cant get the idle anywhere neare where it needs to be without the car being in gear. i tried pinching down the idle air valve hose and there didnt seem to be any change. any ideas or suggestions?
  2. hmmm, yes you need to go there and give directions.
  3. cool deal will. cant wait to see some pics of it.
  4. let us lnow how it goes, and get pics!!
  5. i really want to get my rx tuned properly., its rather quick but still needs work and engine upgrades. i need more power in that car, my impreza is under powered and it even makes the rx feel slow. i got a larger turbo and some intercooles and such just sitting around waiting to go into my car, but i havent ha the tie or money lately to get anything done.
  6. id be happy to hold the engine in my rx till you can get it.
  7. hmm, you still want to try to beat will?? i might could help you out. my rx could be a willing test subject, thankfully, the body isnt rusted to hell on mine. i actually want to set up my td04 and audi tt corner mount intercoolers to my rx. either way, if you part it out, i would be interested in some parts. either way, we need to meet up someday, i awnt to see what you can do with my rx, i want a monster damnit. lol.. peace tim
  8. good deal man, glad to see that you got it working.
  9. i think the reason for having both parts together was that the air valve has a coil the until its heated up, its hold the vavle open, thuss giving te car a high idle until it warms up.
  10. the thermostat housing will work, but the part with the hoses coming out of it is called the auxilury air valve, also known as an idle air control valve. that is what lets the car idle at a stop when your foot isnt on the gas and also controls the high idle when you start the car. im going to a salvage yard today, ill see if they have any left on the old subies there.
  11. think of it like the idle air control valve. it lets your car idle when the throttle plate is closed. also, its what controls the idle speed when the car is warming up. the car will run without it, but you might have problems at a stop or when you make a cold start.
  12. it can be done rather nicely, they have the ability to lay the stuff on thin and smooth or thick and bumpy. the texture of the liner depends of the method of spraying.
  13. thats cool dan, so, when you gunna stop by and say hi again?? havent seen you around in a few months.
  14. methinks gary is referring to me. i live ad work in frederick. i work at the new advance auto parts store on the corner of ballenger creek pike and crestwood blvd. anytime you see either a dark blue old school suby sedan or silver impreza rs, im there. hit me up sometime, im always looking to meet new people. im also always down to get used parts when people upgrade. *hint hint*
  15. welcome to the boards, good to see some one else in the mid atlantic area.
  16. hmmm, i like that torque strut, i need to cut down on the engine's movement.
  17. i am thinkingof getting the 3.3 outta the svx for my impreza, think it might be fun
  18. mine does something like that every now and then, but its usually when accelleration from a stop. it wont rev in gear. starts bogging hard, then a loud pop, pop, pop from the engine. once it pops. it takes off like a raped ape and goes like stink. usually wont do it for a long time after though.
  19. go will. this sounds like it will be a lot easier than haveing to revalve the shocks. let us know what the results are in the performance tests.
  20. calm down paul, it will be okay. but dang, thats a sweet truck, i would rock that out like none other, lol.
  21. not being in cali, they arent nearly as strict with emmissions. as long as the ca at least has a functioning cat, its legal, it doesnt have to be in the stock location. although, from what i hear, in va, they are trying to make it illegal to have any modifications to a car. i love being in maryland though, emmissions every two years and no inspections after you buy the car. as long as you dont have a cel in a newer car or pass the sniffer test in an older car, they dont really care.
  22. the only thing i can see is that the carb cams would most likely have more overlap betweeen the intake and exhaust lobes. turbo cams tend to have much less overlap to retain the extra pressure from the turbo. if there is too much overlap, the boost will jus be waisted through the exhaust, not pressurizing the cylenders. or something like that, i just woke up and am still loopy.
  23. sounds like it would be sweet, i was thinking of doing something like that on my rx one day.
