  1. My hatchback has some sort of eletrical gremlin that is stumping me. The headlights will only come on if you have the high beams on. When you flip the highbeams off, all the lights go out. I've checked all fuses and even replaced the turnsignal/highbeam unit on the column. Still no luck. This is on a GL with the 4 square headlights. I'm running it right now with the outer 2 lights unplugged so I don't blind people at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. That's what I was getting at, if there was an aftermarket ecu possibility you could change the fuel map and fix some of the problems.
  3. Since the ecu is designed for an engine that is similar but not built quite the same, I was just thinking you might encounter some issues with tuning it. Can a stock ea81 handle the amount of fuel the spfi would deliver without bottlenecking somewhere?
  4. Sounds like an interesting project, but when putting the spfi setup on an ea81 would you have to us an ea82 ecu? I would think there would be some quirky issues doing that.
  5. Finally got a chance to get under the car in the daylight yesterday and looked things over. I have a bent a-arm and a radius rod that looks like a horseshoe. Good thing I still have my parts car.
  6. It does sound high, I had all the work done on my 300hp small block Chev done for a little over 1k. Sort of apples to oranges, but it still sounds steep for a shortblock.
  7. Everytime I see your brat I start dreaming of er27s and transfer cases. Looks like way too much fun to me.
  8. Hmmm, from the looks of it 'attempting' is definitely the right word. Sure is a lot of engine sticking up through the hood.
  9. Hahah, I love that "thunk!" sound. Nice vids, looks like way too much fun.
  10. I'm using Firefox too, but when I click the link it went straight to Windows Media Player. Try clicking and saving the link first?
  11. That's sort of what my hatch is doing right now.
  12. Hehe, sure were a lot of parts that came flying off of it. It probably could have driven away despite it. (Just not in a straight line.)
  13. Heheh, the hole is almost 6 feet deep. I don't think the hatch will go *that* fast. Tires are next on my agenda, well, right after I replace the parts under the car that I bent.
  14. Hot off the presses. http://www.onysd.wednet.edu/~g98s57/HatchInAHole/hatch-in-a-hole1.jpg
  15. Hehe, yeah I guess I need to reinstall those parts as I'll be driving the hatch now while the WRX gets fixed. It's already got the lift, just needs the bigger tires.
  16. I had a terrible weekend. Actually, my cars had a terrible weekend. On saturday we decided to take the hatchback for a quick spin in the field. This is the spot where our new house is going to be built and the brush need to be knocked down anyway. Unfortunately, things took a bit of a strange turn when we discovered that the contractor had not filled in the extra perk holes he dug when prepping for our septic system. Wouldn't you know it, we found one the hard way. By the time I saw the mound of dirt and realized what it was, it was way too late. Luckily, we weren't going very fast. Maybe if the car had a welded rear it could have driven itself back out of the hole, instead it was Father in Law and a beater Ford to the rescue. All in all the damage done wasn't too bad, and if it comes down to it, I have another driver's side fender I can put on it. I drove it back to our house and didn't notice anything amiss, I think we got off lucky. That was the better part of my bad weekend. On Saturday Night/Sunday Morning a strong windstorm came roaring though Washington. We live pretty high up in the hills and the winds were very strong at our place. Strong enough to pull our metal car canopy loose, and smash it up against my WRX a couple times. Now I get to call around getting estimates and decide whether or not I want to file a claim with the insurance company. No pics of the WRX, still too depressed to take them.
  17. Hehe, my wife is from Hawaii. Sounds like a typical family get together.
  18. That thing just looks cooler and cooler every time I see it.
  19. Looks great, and I love the looks of those wheels. Thanks for sharing with us.
  20. Bump, it's too dark by the time I get home to check this, has anyone else looked yet?
  21. Ok, now somebody go get that center bore size. I want to see how my WRX wheels look on my hatch.
  22. Even better, here's a page on their site that lists 4x140mm to 5 bolt adapter plates. http://www.truckn-store.com/product.asp?pg=3&ID=75532&returnURL=%2Fproduct%2Easp%3Fpg%3D2%26ID%3D75532%26returnURL%3D%252Fproduct%252Easp%253FreturnURL%253Ddefault%252Easp%2526ID%253D75532
  23. Looking good so far. Thanks for posting all the details, it'll be nice to see the work as it progresses.
