Goin to Disney, Need Some Advice!
spanky_pete replied to DaGodfada's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like you've got almost all your bases covered, I've got some non Subaru advice though. Take lots of cash if you plan on eating inside the park. -
You know you need a better Subaru dealer when...

Sounds rotten to me. It's not like working on old Subies is overly difficult. No worse than my old Chevys at the very least. Slightly off topic, but the Caprices|Impalas were almost identical mechanically from '77 to '96. -
Are you looking at the Turbo or NA version? That makes a big difference too. I have a '02 5spd WRX and an '04 AT WRX. The cockpit configuration is a bit different in the Foresters, but my auto car is much more comfortable to drive than the stick. In the case of the WRXs the Autos get the more advanced AWD system too. Don't know about Foresters. Drive both see which one feels better to you. Both will do you very well in adverse weather.

WOAH, whats this?!?!?! 6?!?!

People are stupid if they fall for this marketing ploy. Carter was willing to make me a sweet deal on an STi, but I couldn't workout the insurance and opted for a WRX instead. -
Aftermarket Cat & Muffler EA81

Cat? What's that. All I have is a straight pipe with a glass pack at the end. -
You think that's bad? Try driving my Hatch after using my '04 WRX as a daily driver. I kept having to remind myself that passing wasn't going to happen unless I had a lot of room to get up to speed.

Yeah, it doesn't get any better than this.

Time to say goodbye!

Didn't he just install a Weber in the Brat? Bummer he can't take it with him to enjoy it. :-\ -
Nah, you mean that the other way around.

spanky_pete replied to DeathHatch's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Having missed attending the show, I really want to meet up with some of you guys and hit the trails, but there's no way my new Hatch will be ready in time for Labor day. -
That's awesome.

Weird front axle nut
spanky_pete replied to swisscheese's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Glad I'm not the only one that's come across this. I have an 88 2wd Hatch that has an off sized nut on the left front axle. Haven't had time to figure out what size it is yet. It's definitely a reman. axle, it says so on the tag I found on it. No manufacturer name though. :-\ -
Call me Crazy!! an XT6 on Solid Axles????
spanky_pete replied to mtsfabman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's more work than I'm capable of, but I really like the idea. Plus, it looks good and seem to perform quite well. Nice job -
Tips for the U-Pull yard?
spanky_pete replied to Hocrest's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sweet, thanks for the link GD, that's exactly what I've been looking for. -
Sweet, I'm from there and still have family in Snohomish, but have never seen any 360s scooting around town during my visits. What part of Snoho are you in?

Balancing Subaru and life... (SHE SAID YES!!)
spanky_pete replied to s'ko's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Congrats man, that's cool. My wife is very tolerant of my Subies. But, parts hunting would probably be where she draws the line. -
hehe, I only use IRC when I'm looking to "evaluate" new CDs and Software.

The funny thing is, last I checked, unemployment was WORSE in Oregon than Washington. Looks like it doesn't create that many jobs. What I respect is intelligent people, no matter what they do for a living. So far, I haven't come across any that pump gas for a living. And the fire hazard thing is total bs. The huge puddle that was left when the guy sprayed the Hatch with gas is worse than I've ever done.

Too cool.
