  1. might get in touch with mudrat79 cause he does make some custom bumpers and there are a few roaming around and are tough! Sean @ Rallitek has one on his Baja and has pushed vehicles around with it and also has done other various things with just the bumper
  2. Yeah those Mail legs get around and a friend of a friend got one in trade for a set of ski boots and I am trying to meet the guy and ask him if he wants to trade it for the 83

  4. well might suggest to people to call that # and/or write to that address and complain if they think there are issues with the dealership the stuff I am mentioning is in another thread hold on and I will dig it up
  5. well if you can make it up to Portland sometime I have a Y-pipe that will work for your GLF
  6. there are frame members in the way so sorry bout this but I would hafta say no on this one
  7. Glad that your wife is OK and all and I would guesstimate it to be about the 5000-7500 mark but of course that Ins. Co. is going to total it cause of the suspension damage man and I have a friend with a 02 and it's a bummer to see stuff like that but of course he is having his own issues with a leaking HG externaly but it is 2 inches higher than that leg due to an install of King Springs thanks to me installing them and after seeing the suspension components on his 02 Leg I would think that yours is toast cause it's gonna take alot to get it back to spec's especialy since it's mounted to the Unibody in a few places
  8. well there are a few of those around here too but the ones that I have pointed out are pretty knowledgeable and in fact Lithia has the old books still from 72 on up to today for FSM and Parts! and alot of the guys there have been working at that dealership (under different owners/management) since 1978 or so! so it is interesting talking to some of those guys cause they are cool and knowledgeable about even the Gen 1 vehichles like mine
  9. well the Dealerships around here are resonable and when I take the 04 in for warranty work at Carr they usualy send a letter saying that I will be expecting a questionare from SOA asking how the serviceing went and usualy they get good marks Lithia is good also but I dunno about Wentworth but have heard some good things about them but wongleflute Hannah on the other hand I will stay away from at all costs cause of the stuff my parents went through when they got a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited from then and had a treatment package installed (the Jeep went back 4-5 times with scratches in the paint, glass, and various pieces of plastic and one of those times they were appologetic about the detailer puting a scratch in the door and they repainted the entire door) but still uhuh no way am I taking my Imp there at all for anything as for Royal Moore they have had some good complements that I have heard about AND they sponsor alot of Motorsports including RallyCross and also are known for being the most lenient about performance upgrades and such Gresham Subaru/Nissan is one I havn't heard alot about yet but been in there once and they have a SCHWEEET 240Z in their showroom and I do have gripes about some other non subaru dealerships around the area *cough* gresham toyota/1-800-own-a-car *cough* about some issues I had with them that I despise even going pass them at all (that's when they get the 1 finger salute when I pass by them at all)
  10. yeah I understand what all you gus are going through cause of right now I am getting information together for a friend of mine for parts and labor for me to replace a externaly blown HG on a 02 Legacy and when talking to RichieRich he told me it takes around 10 hours to do both sides and at about 45-60 bucks an hour you get an understanding how much labor is put into it to get the headgaskets replaced and to make sure that everything is sealed correctly and isn't going to leak down the road for at least another 300k (hopefuly) as for replacement of accessories while at it I would say YES to it cause it's less hassle and good PM to replace things like the timing belt and water pump then also replacing seals that are hard to get to unless you remove alot of the stuff you had to remove when you did the HG's so all in all it is well worth the extra lil bit of money to do that too
  11. nah not goin over the santiam pass (which is 22/20) we are going over Mt.Hood cause it's easier to go that way
  12. How easy is that? And what is all needed besides the motor? Just wondering cause a friend wants to convert his 02 Legacy to a EZ-30 later on but right now need to replace the HG's on the EJ-25 right now cause of the notorious external leak has happened to him
  13. and I might be buzzing right by you going the other direction if your taking 26 cause I will be in Prineville from sat-sun
  14. yep that is the best bet is to goto a JY like U-pull it down on foster
  15. Ok just came back from his place it does turn over and has spark and has fuel pressure and I connected the green test connectors in the engine bay right behind the drivers side strut tower and hear fuel being squirted into the throttle body the only code that is coming out of the ECU is 7 short flashes so basicaly 7 and the Chiltons he has only shows double digit codes so I don't know if it ment it's a-ok or if there is a problem so throw it up to you guys about it and oh yeah it's a 2wd 1987 DL wagon auto with SPFI for the info and there is a connector that he pointed out that is clear brown under the dash with a wire coming out of it that looks like a Jerry-rigged setup and the wire goes nowhere
  16. ummm in the OBS that I have I DO let off the gas at the Apex IF I feel understeer then it corrects itself and sometimes gets the more controllable oversteer effect
  17. Mike after 10 years they don't give a darn about the mileage on the car so you could actualy swap out speedos and still get away with it
  18. well for when you go with the other IC just take a look at how this guy did his: http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?act=section&sectionID=6&entryID=201 found it on yahoo while doing a search for images of RX's a short while back
  19. no not engine but carb rebuild kits just in case you need to pop open the carb for some odd reason
  20. well if it's like my old 86 GL wagon it's just that the wireing is getting old and the resistance increases so less juice is let through and I fixed it simply with a relay next to the starter with a wire going to the batt for juice to the starter so when I turn the key it actualy works
  21. yeah used webers are sometimes hard to get but you can still buy them new for like 300 bucks which isn't too bad and they are a standalone after it's properly jetted (and some of these guys have it sat right on the dot just you need to get the jet sizes from the board) it will stay adjusted and also they are easy to dismantle if you need to clean it out for any reason and also are robust too also a recommendation is to carry TONS of fuel filters (both types!) cause of Mexico is notorious for having tons of crap in their fuel so it's a good idea to carry at least 10 pairs with you just in case and also for your sake take 1-2 rebuild kits just in case also
  22. ok talked with him on Yahoo for a bit and this is what I got from him it is a 87 FI Auto and I have a sneeky suspision(sp?) that it's a electrical gremlin involving the notorious automatic neutral interlock so it might just need a relay near the starter to get it to start up with enough juice going to the starter solinoid
  23. ummm it's carbed not FI cause of they never had that back in 71 mybe 91 but not 71 and where at in Portland are you cause if your near me I could prolly come out and look at it for ya and I live near the Clackamas Town Center
  24. well if you have no emissions testing where your at why not just get a weber and forget it and the carb is simpler to work on especialy if your going down to central america and also you don't need to worry about destroying the O2 sensor cause it won't be hooked up anymore
  25. that's a bummer Melis that that did happen your lucky to have friends that have helped out with everything including a replacement motor and luckily you did get that 3dr when you did so now you have a backup
