  1. I can't honestly answer your question...I don't do any of my own electronics work...i farm it out to Eddie my long time friend and electronics guru. If you do buy an add on player make sure you get one that is for that generation of radios. I was told (but never confirmed) that the din plug in the back is different from that radio to lets say a 99 legacy radio.
  2. I have a scan tool here at home...I just don't remember the code for my legacy. If it is bad enough...it will come back.
  3. ok here is another question while we are talking specs: Oil filter interchangability... i have 2 99 2.2's i change the oil on and one 06 baja N/A. I stock filters to do such vehicles so i have 2 different kinds...can i pick one and only stock one style to do all 3 cars? I also have my 83 which takes another type (but matches up perfectly seal wise and thread wise) so I guess I have 3 types here at home. Michael? anyone else want to make a guess or render a decision?
  4. that aux plug is only on the 90/91 legacys for some reason. If you have a radio w/o the plug I was told you can have someone with some electronics knowledge put it in...(there is a spot on the circuit board for it) You can put a factory CD player to that radio b/c it does have the din plug in the back. FWIW, i have had a bunch of 1st gen legacys...that is hands down one of the best factory radios I have ever owned.
  5. thanks guys...i told her to drive it and call me if it comes back. As for buying a sensor... I always buy the OEM ones so that you know they are right. So here is the score in Akron: I live next to my folks. My wife has the same identical car as my mom does (I liked hers so i bought the wife one) so on any given evening...there are 2 identical legacys sitting infront of the house...and both of the damn things have intermitant CEL's. FWIW, ours has a canister issue. once again...thanks as always O2 > new cat
  6. mom called and told me her CEL is on. i went over and I pulled the code and it was P0420 (catalyst efficency or something like that). My question is...what is the Warranty on the emissions system in these cars? It used to be 50k miles but now I think it is 100k miles...but when did that change? Is there a time limit too??? 3yrs, etc. What do you folks think????? Pop is gonna isht a brick if he has to buy a new cat for the car. (chevy fanatic) Car is a 99 legacy L sedan 30th anniv 2.2 automatic AWD with 76k on it and it is champagne color (aka beige) Thanks!
  7. you know Huck i have had 2 95 1.8 AWD 5 speeds and to be honest with you...they both were very tight. I just drove them and over time they seemed to loosen up a little to some extent. One car in particular was very tight when it was cold outside and cold from overnight rests. Drive it...change the fluid and keep driving it.
  8. ^^^ amen. I have an ea and 2 EJ's.... I like the all for different reasons. Thanks Michael for saying you like the baja...not many people do. :-\
  9. Ziebart = Good!!!!! Rusty jones = Very bad
  10. i'm always more interested what is on the magnetic plug then what the juice looks like.
  11. welcome! maybe you don't have a steering issue...sounds like driver issues.. Kidding....
  12. yeah the KY would be best. vasaline is oil based so i'd have to say no on that one If you get the good KY you can use that around the house for other things too.... sorry...had to say it.
  13. I don't know...when i had my 1.8 impreza it seemed slower then my 1.8 ea-81 gl. FWIW the impreza was awd and the gl is fwd
  14. they aren't dogs but they aren't fast either. Just a great solid engine. If the impreza is a 5 speed it will help a lot. Keep it up above 3300 and it will move very well. You know what they say.... "you just got to know how to drive it"
  15. yeah man props to you for getting it back and props to eveyone who is offering to help you get it back 100%
  16. very cool! shawn you are a heck of a guy! Andrew: let me know when it gets there...maybe a road trip to CT
  17. ...and the 3.3 in the svx was a 2.2 with 2 more cyl put to it (so i have been told)
  18. I was told that they went out of production back in April of this year... but I will also say that I wouldn't argue with subyluvr either since he works at a dealership.
  19. in this case i will always vote for the reliablity of the H6 for the long haul but if i was going to lease a car and didn't care about upkeep in its later years i would go with the fun factor of the turbo 4cyl. H6 doesn't have timing belts either which to me is a big + either way you are going to be
