  1. I was wondering about that too....hmmmmm:D
  2. you let me know when, what, and how and we'll go from there....they are holding the front of the 83 up at the moment so i don't think they are going anywhere....
  3. Thanks john....I just had a bright idea....there is a loyale sedan FS at a car lot about 2 miles from here. I might have to take an extended test drive. But if that doesn't work out....I might take you up on that.
  4. his legacy is a 5 speed
  5. Thanks guys...I was 95% sure this was the answer before i posted but i wanted to be 100%. My main problem with "test fitting" is that the cars are about 150 miles apart. Thanks again guys.
  6. ok here is the deal....I am going to hook up a board member with my snow tires/wheels off of the 83 GL and they are going to put them on say a 92 loyale. Will the wheels fit from one car to another. I remember something about brakes hitting but ??????? FWIW, the 92 in question is a 2wd car and the 83 is a beautiful black car with really low miles on it....and yes I realize i am just rambling right now but i am having withdraw from not driving that really nice black 83 GL. (shhhh its sleeping for the winter already ) And just b/c it is my thread and I am in a strange mood...I am going to make my post eleventybillion times better with a few naners...
  7. might not be the same....but I'm no expert
  8. from this site: http://www.nhtsa.com/portal/site/nhtsa/menuitem.9fa154a4d39f02e770f6df1020008a0c/;jsessionid=F1LETMy2PJFj1p1A9itOaNyhiGGN2IP2vzPrqrQzlnSWfVTlY20B!-1058166001 there are TSB's that are in regards to the clutch. The one that stands out to me is: nhtsa# 10001726 service bulitin: 035203 Keep in mind these are vague descriptions on the internet but there is a SB about the clutch out there so consult the subaru dealer.
  9. There is a TSB for that year car. Take it to a subaru dealer and talk to them about it....especially if you have a new clutch in it otherwise you are going to ruin the new one too. Been here and done this before.... (2002 Outback) Good luck.
  10. just get the good stuff and do it right...you went all that way to get the parts so don't half a$$ it the rest of the way. Was good meeting you though!
  11. I had a prof. in college that had that exact car....and I can honestly say my feelings toward it haven't changed..... OMGHOTTTTTTTTTTT OMG TURBO <---too funny
  12. Soutthpaw sent in this submission: Just thought this link should be here on repairs. Anti-seize lubricant http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...ubricant_a.htm Use it on any and all bolts and nuts subject to corrosion. it will handle temps to 1600*F. Really good for exhaust manifold studs, bolts and nuts. Most auto parts stores carry it.
  13. personally...I don't see the point in that wagon in the link. There is no tailgate so you really can't haul anything. Furthermore in the state of PA it now wouldn't pass inspection....You need a tailgate for your bed. :-\
  14. yeah we thought the taillights were nice looking too! As for raped.....yeah me and ben really had our way with her today.
  15. you can do anything you put your mind to. I'd say try it....it isn't like it is going to cost you much money to buy it and if you screw it up....oh well I think you could make a tailgate out of the back hatch if you used your imagination...
  16. oh baby I made out like a bandit today. GL-10 interior, digi dash, and the needle in the haystack....a grey dash! So I assume that you got the tail lights off that car huh Connie? Ben did awesome today too for getting parts for his XT-6 5 speed swap! Good day at Harry's and let me tell you the Baja looked like Sanford and Son on the way home! What a great truck!
  17. bummer dude...that really sucks.
  18. back a few years ago i bought an OBS and the first snow i could do doughnuts in i lost one and it was gone forever...you could always do what I do though...use alloy wheels.
  19. looks like you guys had a great time...that touring wagon of paul's is a veteran of that place. MORE PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Thanks a bunch both of you guys! I hopefully will be going after it next weekend so we will see how it goes then. Thanks again!
  21. here is something that I found while doing a search. It was written by GeneralDisorder. Anyone have anything to add to this or more precise locations of bolts, nuts, etc.? I want to get a new dash for the 83 and i might have found one..... thanks for all input GD's post: As for removal tips - I just did this job on Saturday, and I can say that removing the windshield (10 minutes with a utility knife) will really make getting to the bolts on the top of the dash much easier. Of course you can't do this on your car, but at the junk yard it certainly would fly, and make your visit more enjoyable. With the windsheild out, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to get the dash out. I had never pulled one before either, but if you know where all the bolts and nuts are, then it's actually pretty straightforward. Remove the surround, and the guage cluster first, as well as the drivers side kick panel. Remove the glove box door, and insert. And remove the passenger kick panel/shelf. On top of the dash remove the vent louvers, and there will be three or four bolts underneath that hold the dash down.... various nuts and bolts underneath that hold the dash in place, and of course all the wireing has those wraps on it that hold it to the dash. Couple of zip-ties in there too. I just cut those. GD
  22. Tim, I saw the guy use that stuff on "Trucks!" back a few years ago...he said it worked really good...if you do it post your impressions b/c i think it is a great idea (and I hate weights too)
  23. nice wheels....newer forester XS wheels are great to look at and easy to clean!
