you will need to install fuel lines that(and pump) are rated for the capacity needed for an ej
  3. at least now you can get some sleep eh? goodies goin out this week minus the door pad that i have yet to procure
  4. my oil pressure monitoring system: if it aint tickin, its got oil pressure.
  5. did you get your harness?? do you need just the engine harness or everything (ecu etc) my first car was a 81 glf coupe ea81 2wd 5sp same color as yours. nice work so far
  6. they had surface "rust" kinda peppered in there but i maintain that the welds, or lack thereof, led to premature failure. that or the air Crapwagon caught this weekend (oops). but then they shoulda failed wayy ealier this week.
  7. picture if you can....the inside of a tire coated in axle grease, and a strut w/o brackets. it even broke the brake line bracket. brakes are fine...so far. ill get some pics (and txt em to ya to post lol) tonight when i yank out the other strut.
  8. so yesterday one of my recently installed struts decided to seporate from anything bolted to the knuckle and wipe out my ps axle, and dern near the tire as well with the spring perch. stupid used limey built struts......( i dont hate limeys but cmon, who spot welds things when you should lay a bead on that puppy like ALL my other ones) im just lucky it was at the end of the day and at less than 25 mph
  9. i got a set of ea81 headgaskets somewhat by mistake, ill put em in your box. that said i pray you dont have to use em. must suck to be all rusty, we just dismantled a 89 glw in under 8 hrs, mostly with my craftsman 19.2v cordless impact. car was straight too, you should be pissed:brow:
  10. added a redneck facebook to my car, i think i want bigger antennea though (dont we all:D). also changed out the old decrepit front struts for some.....less decrepit ones. front end sits way lower now booo. stiffer tho, and the struts were "made in england" and are blue.....que?
  11. the distys are different depending on 4wd vs 2wd, not ecu..those should be the same enough. use your old disty would be my advice, however there are more experienced folks on here
  12. i dunno, i suppose ill add it to the checklist. it would be nice to have it be easier. my spare stuff has 90k less on it.
  13. ive only done a couple TOBs but ya, i grease all moving parts in there.
  14. you may want to take the few minutes to check the back of the fork.......the one i just put in a car looked great on the outside but you could see the cracks in the back more clearly. then i filled it with white lithium grease. just pay attention to the clips and whatnot
  15. oh ya, i did the starter fluid dance. no dice. still though i cant help but think intake gaskets, just a hunch. if i squeeze the throttle i can get'er up to 6500ish rpm. stomp on it....puke. it also threw the #1 plug wire (yes it came off)that was prolly me tho. Oh ya, Tom, waffles are tasty with peanut butter
  16. that thing must be really fast with one pouty man power. ill go ahead and assume you looked at the back of that clutch fork too right? capn double check thats what i am
  17. updates: code 34 still gone. car is stumbling still. ive changed filters iac, maf, no luck. this weekend i think im going to swap everything from the intake on up. i cant hear the fuel pump whining so i dont think thats it. also got a new fender same paint code to replace the smashed one caused partially by a crappy spotter:Flame: i take responsibility only in that i allowed Sam to spot me. lesson learned. help? comments? flamming? anything? this is a thread not a journal folks.
  18. your brat is coming along nicely, you deserve your screen name. now get over to my thread and start posting lol!
  19. well, ya got me there Jezsek, i shoulda said "there is no 1987 MY gen 2 wagon"........in the usa
  20. ok folks.......bumpin up the thread about thinking about goin on a cruise and not actually going on one.......... heres the "plan": saturday morning meet @ orting mcdonalds. Time? we'll figure that out if anybody actually wants to go with us yahoos. we're thinking about goin up above wilkeson, dirt roads, possibly a lil trail action. anybody down to get dusty?? RV
  21. thanx for the clutch picks......turns out AZ gave us the wrong kit. matches your ea81 kit perfectly (cept for the roller bearing?). this woulda worked for us.......if we had an 87 ea81 wagon (doesnt exhist). oh well, i shoulda gone not the new guy i guess. I digress............. back to work Tom
  22. waaaay awesome Nico. glad to see a project that involved get finished. needs a factory luggage rack on the decklid though, then itll drive upside down
  23. i second this, a recent addition to my ''cars that i fix'' fleet was bought for super filthy cheap......broke clutch fork (88 gl) runs like a whipped mini horse. that said, the only donor fork came off another recent addition and the cracks were evident, but not yet fatal. that cars getting a rebuilt motor then ill replace the fork. long story long.........lube that pivot with white lithium grease while you have the chance....but you prolly knew that. i digress....
